  • Emory and Oxford College students visit Georgia's barrier islands to study coastal ecology and geology. St. Catherines Island is a restricted research preserve, and its interior is off-limits to the public, but you can follow along on a field trip led by professors Anthony Martin and Stephen Henderson.

I remember when my Biology 1108 professor (Mr. Lessnau) at AASU took our class to St. Catherine's Island in 2002. A fun & educational experience!

I spent my summers growing up on St. Catherine's Island.......I was taught the "mole crab" was a flea crab. The pond with the gators.....we called the mamma, Gwenny, and we would take the jeeps after dinner to the pond and feed them all the left overs. Of course, there were no lemurs way back then.....but there was plenty of magick.
