3:58 Thinking of the jo as coming from the spear and rotating it is a powerful realization. Thank you!

I appreciate how traditional this Sensei and dojo are. The floor tape (and back of hands) very interesting/useful. 👊

It's so helpful to see all the wrong ways with explanations. Thank you! Just subscribed.

The camera perspective is great to illustrate the effectiveness of keeping the jo level. Thanks for the great video!

I’ve been working 31 Jo Kata. And I start switching from Left side to right. Got the right side down. But doing it opposite. Getting better. So easy to get confused or miss a step. But getting there. I’m a firm believer in what you do on the right. We do on the left.

Plus I use the Jo when doing Shotokan Kata’s. Great way to extend YOYR Kata training. And Jo work. Work with most of the Shotokan Kata’s.

I have a steel bar that’s 40 inch’s long. 3/4 with. Stainless steel. Is my bedroom Jo. Small places.. But great workout. With 31 Jo Kata. Actually 62 Jo Kata. Left positions Right Position.

@@EnochDark 6’4 and shrinking. My Jo. Is a Closet Pole. 3/4 thick. About 5.5 feet. Love it. I ordered a jo online. It’s like 48” long. Like a twig. But then again. I have a 5 foot 3/4 inch Steel Jo. Weighs about 70 Lbs. Soli d stainless steel. I’m from Pittsburgh. My first job out of high school. Was Republic Steel. Where the Steelers got their symbol from. That Steel Jo. Is freaking crazy.

@@bigsidable I also use a closet pole... it is a little short for me but not a problem bc part of why I train with it is so I don't bash up my house. ;) i am able to understand the mechanics enough to have my practice translate to longer weapons when in a larger space/outdoors. otherwise i have some maces but 70lbs? why? a hollow one weighing 7lbs seems more efficient to me...
