Issei lay on the cold, damp ground of the forest, his heart shattered into a million pieces. The once-bright sky above him seemed to mock his misery, its vibrant colors contrasting starkly with the darkness that had enveloped his soul. Tears streamed down his face as he choked out words that echoed through the silent woods.
"I helped Akeno... I saved Rias from that arranged marriage... I did everything for them... and I get nothing in return," Issei sobbed, his fists clenching the dirt beneath him. The pain of betrayal burned within him, a fire that refused to be extinguished.
His thoughts were consumed by the image of Naruto, the one who had taken everything from him. Naruto had not only replaced him in the eyes of those he loved, but he had also taken his Boost Gear, the sacred tool that had once made Issei feel powerful and special. Now, he was left with nothing but his anguish and resentment.
In the distance, a faint rustling in the bushes caught Issei's attention. He quickly wiped his tears and stood up, his body tensing in anticipation of danger. Out of the shadows emerged a figure he recognized all too well - Rias Gremory.
"Issei," she said softly, her eyes filled with a mix of guilt and concern. "I heard you were out here. I wanted to talk."
Issei's heart ached at the sight of her. Despite everything, a part of him still cared deeply for Rias. But the pain of her betrayal was too raw, too fresh.
"Why did you come here, Rias?" Issei asked, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and sorrow. "To gloat? To tell me how much better Naruto is?"
Rias shook her head, stepping closer to him. "No, Issei. I came to apologize. I realize now how much I've hurt you. We all do."
Issei laughed bitterly. "Apologize? That's all you have to say? After everything I've done for you, for Akeno, for everyone? You threw me aside the moment Naruto showed up."
"You're right," Rias admitted, tears welling up in her eyes. "We were wrong. We let ourselves be blinded by Naruto's power and charisma. But Issei, you have to understand, it was never about replacing you. We were just trying to protect everyone."
"Protect everyone? By abandoning me?" Issei's voice rose in anger. "I was your friend, Rias. I loved you. And you threw me away like I was nothing."
Rias reached out, placing a hand on Issei's shoulder. "Issei, please. We're here now, trying to make things right. We want you back. We need you."
Issei shrugged her hand off, stepping back. "It's too late, Rias. The damage is done. I can't just forget what happened."
Rias looked down, her shoulders slumping in defeat. "I understand, Issei. But please, just know that we're sorry. And if you ever decide to give us another chance, we'll be here, waiting."
With that, Rias turned and walked away, leaving Issei alone once more. He watched her go, his heart torn between the lingering love he felt for her and the deep-seated pain of betrayal.
As he stood there, Issei made a silent vow to himself. He would rise from this despair, stronger than ever before. He would prove to everyone that he was not someone to be cast aside. And if the day ever came when he faced Naruto again, he would show him the true power of Issei Hyoudou.
For now, though, Issei allowed himself one last moment of weakness. He sank to his knees, the tears flowing freely once more, and cried for the life he had lost and the uncertain future that lay ahead.
