Love your videos. Straight to the point without the BS filler content. Thank you!
You just saved me some money! Stuff like this is what makes UA-cam my first stop before shopping.
Thank you! I was looking at both and had no idea the difference was only the 7 additional colors! Great video as always!
Love the side by side comparision. Nice job Paul. Keep up the good work.
Thanks a million. I've watched your videos for a while now, and when I decided on the Striker 4 I came right to you to inform me on the differences between these 2 models. I fish a fairly small body of water and the Striker 4 is all I'll ever need. Striker 4 Plus is on it's way to my door. Thanks again.
@@1Cast1Fish Now I just need to watch your videos on how to use it. Thanks again.
Always great info here on your channel.. clear concise and easy to understand! Great video my friend!
Been looking forward to this comparison, I’ve got the plus cv and was wondering if it was worth the upgrade. Thanks for your honesty and the vid, keep em comin.
One of the advantages of not being sponsored "bought" by anyone....I get to give my honest opinion. Glad you found this useful
Was hoping for so much more. Thanks for the info
I agree I thought the 7 new colors would have at least made it into options for the standard sonar color choices.
Thanks for your honest review. I haven't even unboxed my Plus CV yet, and look forward to using it.
@@1Cast1Fish thanks, your tutorials will help me learn to set it up and use it properly. Your lessons are invaluable
I bought the lowrance hook2 7x this past summer and so far used it once. Kept hearing guys mention the Garmin striker is better for a bit more. So that brought me to your video's and you've convinced me to get a striker plus 4cv! 😂 Well now the vivid since it's same price and get a few extra colors, thanks for providing these helpful videos for noobs like me! I'll be watching your striker classes videos next! 🙏
Great video mate, helped me make the decision for a sounder for my dads boat very easy. Cheers from Aus!
That doesn't seem like much of a upgrade. Thanks for the info, great work like always.
That's the video I was searching. Congrats. It was very usefull. Receive my 👍
Awesome content man, your videos have helped me so much with my striker 4. I took it out to the lake for a second time with the knowledge I got from your videos and I was able to catch more fish thanks to the information I got here. You have a new subscriber now
Thanks buddy that was spot on ime in the UK just about to purchase one of the Garmin products and your video saved me some cash well pleased thanks once again Tight Lines 🎣 happy day's 👍
Man….. have been shopping for another finder for my 2nd yak. It’s for the wife and friends so I wanted GPS, mapping, basic sonar, but this video gave me the disappointing truth about the two 4CV models. Thank you for a clear concise comparison.
Earned a sub for sure. Hope my stuff will be as clear and to the point when I release it 👍
The Quick Draw maps are great for mapping small bodies of water....so thats a big plus
thanks for that. I accidentally bought the 7sv Plus the other day thinking I was getting the vivid (had never heard of the plus!) . Now I don't feel so bad!
Thanks Paul appreciate your advice. still am content with my Striker 4 Plus without the Clearview. I know you're a busy man but still looking forward to your next class I believe it was going to be on the basics of GPS. Come on people push that subscribe button its really easy.
I still plan on putting out the rest of the last class set on the GPS side of things. I think I am going to do some fishing for a bit now though and do a few on the new Vivid.
@@1Cast1Fish good for you man. Was trying to figure out how to send you a picture what we call a sheep's head out here in the West Coast big black and red rockfish got a couple of them about 15 lb out here at the Channel Islands in Southern California. @@theduck9939 I have seen them in pics before, but I think you can send pics on Twitter...I do have a Twitter that I post to as well.
I have loved my original garmin striker 4 that I have had for many years now but I might have to up grade to at least the CV as I do like it.
@@1Cast1Fish I think I am going to try and pic on up. And we need to get together soon and do some fishing this summer!
@@BravoBassin I agree...I just need to get out and do some fishing period...lol Work should settle down after this week, so time to hit the water
I have the garmin striker 4 plus and I’m wondering if I upgraded to the garmin striker vivid clearview do I have to replace the transducer also? Or are they the same. I really like the clear view option
@@Justin-yy6qg you should be able to use the same one as far as I know but I am not 100% sure on that.
Great video, I watched the other one you have made as to how to navigate through the striker 4 menu and play with the fish symbols. I recently just got a native kayak and was maybe looking for other ideas for the mounting options for the display unit itself. I have some stuff from yak gear but I feel it seems to be really bulky and wasn't really designed for the striker model as in a mounting plate seems to not mate up with it very well. I would also be switching from the just screwing to the kayak itself to using track mounts. Are the Hobie tracks comparable in size? I see you have some listed just wondering if you or maybe someone might be able to point me in some starting areas. Thanks again.
Here is how I mounted mine ua-cam.com/video/Vir8gm-meQ4/v-deo.html
I think the Hobie tracks are the same size as mine are.
@@1Cast1Fish Thank you for the great video. I greatly appreciate passing along the knowledge!
Great honest review👍 would you recommend buying a garmin fishfinder with a portable bundle? Many thanks from 🏴
For the price, the Garmin Striker models are hard to beat...the bundles are great
Thankyou for that great information. Do you have a comparison video for the Garmin Striker 5 models?
I do not sorry, I use the 4 and Vivid 4 for kayaking, and the 106 Ultras for the boat.
I'm new to fish finders and have just purchased the striker cv vivid . I wonder if you have any videos on how to set up the transducer on an inflatable boat . Many thanks and great videos
I do not, I normally mount my transducer to the hull or inside the hull, which may be difficult with an inflatable. They do make swing over mounting arms that may work.
Paul do you have a video going over how to identify hard vs soft bottom on the Striker?
Check this out ua-cam.com/video/hJxA0e7nL8o/v-deo.html go to the section on edge feature...hope it helps...it's a great learning tool as well
Tks for share this information i decides to chose 4 plus thanks so much
I am going to be doing some fishing but a lot of boating/skiing/tubing. Instead of buying a depth finder for my 17' boat I was thinking of buying one of these, do you agree it will work great as a depth finder for me, especially once a get good maps drawn?
You have 2 options if you are mainly after mapping and depth. Buy a fish finder that accepts a mapping card...pop it in and you are ready to go, or use a model with quickdraw contours and map the lake yourself, which takes some time.
Thx for the info. I hit the subscribe button right away. Can I use the 4.4 amp nocqua to operate the garmin?
Yep, plenty of people use the 4.4, I use the 10....but 4.4 will work just fine as well
@@1Cast1Fish Glad I found your channel. I started watching your Garmin tutorials
Awesome, glad you enjoy the channel content...I will be getting back to Garmin tutorials here this fall and winter
Ottima spiegazione ...!!!! Bravo ✌️
Quinti la differenza tra il vivid e il plus e nulla ...???? Ho trovato ad un buon prezzo il vivid..!!! Me lo consigli ????
Thanks great video, I just bought a brand new never used plus 4cv for $125, I think the guy was gonna upgrade to a vivid.
His wife bought it for him last year and he never installed it and she doesn’t know he was selling it, looks like he spent more money for a few extra color options, I don’t even like none of the new colors 😁
You got a steal...I agree the new colors are not that impressive...but I am testing them all out and a few have some good merit. I just wish the new colors made it into the standard sonar view as well.
@@1Cast1Fish thats interesting. i ordered a plus cv off ebay but a vivid cv came in the mail instead. can you tell me what colors you found to have some good merit/gives advantage? greetings. thanks in advance sir.
@@normalman23 Color is really a personal preference, I plan to do a video discussing my favorite colors and why...but I tend to like blues.
@@1Cast1Fish did you ever put that video out on the colors, if not what striker colors do you seem to prefer now?
@@ringosty I have not, but in general I like the blue shades for most applications.
If I upgraded to the garmin striker vivid clear view from the garmin striker 4 plus do I have to replace the transducer also?? I really love the clear view option and I’d buy it bc it fits the same exact way on my fishing jet ski.
So the Striker Plus uses the standard duel beam transducer, and the Vivid uses the GT20 transducer. The Vivid transducer is not the same size as the plus transducer. due to the added Clear Vu elements. The fishfinders themselves are basically the same size though. If you but a new Vivid it should come with the required transducer.
Does either unit disconnect from the base? This video was very informative and help me in my search for a fishfinder
Yes they all disconnect from the base, and the bases are even interchangeable
With the Striker 4 and the Striker 4 Vivid cv, can the transducer for the vivid still be mounted inhull for a kayak for the clear view or will it effect the image?
I have mounted my Vivid transducer in hull without issue....its a tad harder to get right as far as ensuring no air gap, but in general no issues.
Come on folks, lets thank the brother for the $$ saving video by hitting the "thanks" button. Extremely helpful content
Can u live chart with the striker?
I have a bunch of ponds that I need contours to.
Yes, the Plus & CV models will do the Quick Draw Maps (Garmin's Name) I use this to map out small little ponds as well.
So I've finally been able to turn my 4PlusCV on. It won't work on the power supply I routed to the unit location but, it works when connected directly to the battery?
Do you have tutorials on just the Plus4CV?
Sounds like a power or wire issue...I connect my unit directly to the battery source.
Can you scroll back in the traditional sonar history on the vivid? I mean can you see the sonar readings that have already past the left side of the screen? Thx
Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to say No...but I had a chance to try it....and YES you can scroll back....learned something new myself :)
Is there supposed to be a pin hole on the bottom of the transducer? If not will it hurt anything?
I’ve been looking at buying Garmin striker4...as a first time buyer..do you think the Garmin Vivid cv is a worthy first purchase?? (Small fiberglass boat)
Stiker 4 is the Best fish finder ever , no need to blow money on something else .😇
I have the striker for vivid was trying to jig for deep lake. Trout, that's 75 plus feet. I cannot see what's going on. What should my settings be at?Please help
Nice video but I need your help. Are the transducers different? Striker Vivid 4C comes with a GT20 transducer and the Striker Plus 4cv comes with a CV20-TM transducer. Which is the better transducer or are they different in application only. If they were the same price which Striker would you recommend?
So I believe that the CV20 is a typo...the Garmin website does not list a CV20 transducer, only a GT20. So with that said, if the 7 extra colors mean alot to you...go Vivid...if not and it's cheaper go Plus 4CV.
@@1Cast1Fish I called Garmin and was told the CV20 is an old outdated transducer and the GT20 was much better. The reason I needed to know is I had seen both on Amazon and now we all know the difference. Good fishing!
@@Autospecialties1 never knew it existed, I would definitely get the newest one knowing it is a older model
@@Autospecialties1 Thank you very much for your answer. Otherwise I was already upset that I bought vivid!
Hi I have a question I bought my first fish finder garmin striker plus 4cv and when I try it I had some electric sound from the transducer
Is it normal?
Should sound like a slight tick… that means it’s working, perfectly normal
Which one would you recommend getting the Garmin striker plus 4 or the 4 cv?
Depends on your need for the CV and your budget. You can sometimes find the Plus 4 cheaper, but if the CV imaging interests you....then that is the way to go.....buy once, cry once
Only the Huge change for vivid series is the u grtt loaded maps! When u go to the upper size screen. At a entry level price point
They are all great fish finders for the price can't go wrong for the price point
Hey man! I’m from brazil and i’m learning many things whit you about the striker vivid 4 , i bouth one and i’m excited to go fishing soon! I’m just writing you to apologize for the videos! Sorry about the english!
Wow basically no difference at all but the Vivid CV is my first fish finder ever so I can’t complain. If I upgraded I’d be pissed.
The Vivid CV and the Plus CV are both great, but definitely save your money if you already have a Plus CV.
which model allows you to see best when its sunny
Neither really, all fishfinders IMO are harder to see in direct sunlight...the best thing is either a sun shade for the unit, or increase screen brightness.
I was only able to get the Vivid. I wanted the 4cv plus and save a few bucks but all I could find was the vivid.
For kayaks, is the 5cv any better, or is it just a 1" bigger screen?
@1Cast 1Fish maybe you have found a way to put a leash on the garmin stryker 4, maybe?
I use a Ram mount without a leash....never had issues, but I guess it could happen
I have the stiker 4 plus and I constantly get noise at 12 feet to the point it marks it as fish sometimes. Any recommendations?
Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/hJxA0e7nL8o/v-deo.html
look at the section on noise reduction. It may also be the thermocline...which is a goof thing to know.
@@1Cast1Fish oh yeah watched that video a few times already trying to figure out if it's something I was doing wrong. How could I tell if it's the thermocline vs random noise?
Experience or take temp readings at the depths. I would look up thermocline pics on the web to compare to. My guess is that if it is a thin line of "noise" at a constant depth, likely it is the thermocline.
I just got my garmin striker 4 vivid today , i use a kayak what scroll speed do you recommend i use?
Depends on your moving speed of the vessel...for most idle motoring or kayak fishing I like a slow speed
What’s your favorite color scheme for CV? Are they the same for 400 & 800? Any tips on setup for CV to get best results? Thanks. New Sub with black bell notifications 👍
I will be coving the CV in depth, but I like the blue tones the best for the majority of use.
Do you guys think it's worth the upgrade from a striker 4 plus to a vivid cv?
Depend son the types of areas you fish, and what type of fish you primarily target. If your mostly fishing small creeks or shallow water (less than 5 feet) you probably will not gain alot from the CV. The CV shines in deeper water for structure ID.
Can you use the striker 4 transducer on the striker vivid CV. The reason for asking is I mount my striker 4 transducer to a 30lb thrust mini kota trolling motor and that being said I do not think the striker vivid CV transducer will fit on my 30lb thrust mini kota trolling motor. I use a 14 foot square stern sports pal canoe and I would not want to drill holes to mount it on the canoe itself. Are transducers interchangeable with some models?
Not sure of the ability to interchange the transducers....I know the CV model transducer is different, so it may not work...with that said I do have both models and transducers....so I can check in the next week and try them out and see if you like.
Interesting to see if it works. That would be great if you have time to try. Thanks not sure if they both have the same 4 pin connectors.
I see it looks like you beat me to it, but I did get a chance to try it and yes you can switch them and select the correct transducer...you do lose down scan.
@@1Cast1Fish For ice fishing it is nice to know that Garmin will allow us to use other transducers if the option is there to select. Garmin had done a great job with their product now and they packed so much into their units at an affordable price.
@@tommycodfish Agreed...wish I had ice to ice fish again....I miss being in the midwest and sitting on the ice
Does the Striker Vivid have side imaging
No it does not, in the Garmin line up side imaging is called Side Vu...I also believe that within the Striker series you have to go up to the 7" before it is offered.
I want to buy a fish finder with a depth of 500 to 1,500, for the sea, can you please recommend a marine chart for El Salvador, Acajutla, Sonsonate
I watched this because I was curious about the Garmin Plus CV, mostly because I have never heard of it. After searching Garmin's website high and low it looks like the "Plus CV" is only offered in Australia. Perhaps I'm missing something
The Plus CV has now been replaced in most markets with the Vivid. You can sometimes still find them discounted though.
@@1Cast1Fish Thanks for the reply! I own the vivid cv, got it at the end of last season and wasnt able to take it out until last week. I was concerned maybe a newer model had come out in the meantime that maybe I had missed, but I now see that isnt the case! I know some mapping features have different licensing for Australia when it comes to Navionics and such so I figured it wouldnt hurt to ask. Your videos are great and have helped me a ton, from mounting my transducer with duct seal (something I already use to make bullet/pellet traps) to which frequency/gain settings I should be using in different depths and clarity I still go back and watch your stuff all the time. Thanks!!!
I am looking for a translation in Arabic to explain this device, I hope you can help me💙💙
The Garmin Striker plus 4 cv the same as the plus 4 duel beam right?
The CV has the Clear View down imaging feature....The Plus 4 does not. They both have the Quick Draw Contour Maps
