Just visited Big Sky, Yellowstone, Bozeman, and of course Livingston. We loved the area. I would move there tomorrow save the cost of living, in particular, being retired, the real estate would place a financial burden upon us. I haven't traveled a great deal, but keeping Montana clean, pristine, and untouched would be my thoughts after our visit.

May I ask where you’re seeing the crime rate as high? I’m curious mostly because crime in the area is generally low and yes I do consider Livingston a safe place to live. :)
I mean sure... imagine living in constant never ending hurricane force winds with the occasional dust storms all summer long, while understanding that's the "nice part" of the year in Livingston. But if you're stupid rich you can join the ranks of building a house on the outskirts, realize the entire area sucks (even by Montana standards) and never come back again. You won't be the first or the last.

Livingston versus Bozeman is mostly going to come down to size and resources. Bozeman has MSU and a much larger population, which brings with it Costco, Target, and a lot more dining. However, it also means housing is more expensive. You can get more for your money in Livingston! Is there something specific you'd like to know?
Livingston is full of trees. In fact it's the law: you have to plant trees in the boulevard between house and street, if there aren't already some there.
Dont sell Livingston down the drain. Each person you bring here causes longer lines, higher home prices and destroy the quality of life for the rest of us who have lived here most of our lives. Go sell the Gallatin Valley, Townsend or East Helena, leave our town alone. Those who have made their lives here for decades are being priced and taxed out of their homes, force to move. There is no reason to continue to degrade the quality of life in Livingston. Take a hike!!!
Livingston has experienced growth much like other parts of Montana, you’re right. I’m not bringing people here, but educating those who are interested so they can make the right decision for them. And I love hiking! Wonderful idea. What’s your favorite thing about Livingston?

I've left footprints all over the Absaroka range, lived in Cook City for a bit and done plenty of hunting and fishing in Park County. I love the place! But, after aging and wearing out my body, I cant do those things any longer. It burns me when I go to Albertson's (used to be Buttrey's) and experience the craziness in the parking lot, the gas station lines, waiting at the bank, too many people, so many bad attitudes that have come here with them. Just trying to get through town on Park is a hassle. I'm saddened about the change and of course, the rate of change. I studied the volcanism in Yellowstone for many summers, but now, I cant get around in there any more, buses, elk jams and the like. Look at the rents and home prices in town now, folks grown up here cant stay, priced out of town, it's sad. Livingston is a special place, but as more move here, it's wearing off. Must every hilltop in the county be adorned with McMansions? Such changes, I'm saddened and disheartened. P.S. be sure to tell them about Winter, I love it!!

I also know to some extent it’s inevitable - it’s a beautiful place and as much as we want it to remain the same, it just isn’t possible. Livingston is a very special place indeed. Ps - I tell everyone about winter and have a video about it as well!
Montana overall isn’t terribly diverse. Livingston is a pretty small town as well, with a population under 10,000. I would recommend searching and checking out the census for additional info. Thanks for watching!

Very safe. Young kids bike to school in large numbers.
