I like that little "secret" cloverleaf ramp from 75S to 285E that you took. Much easier to navigate at peak times than the flyover ramp, which is often choked with traffic. Coming from someone who once had to commute from Gwinnett Co. to Cobb Co. for a week and found it the longest week in his life, spent mostly in traffic.
I remember traveling on this route, the portion that was completed, on Christmas 1973. I was 11 years old. Dad took us to Florida to visit our grandparents who had just moved to Florida from Wisconsin. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane!!
I've grown to really like your videos and I'm eager to see where you're going this season! St. Louis has 1 big surprise for ya on the Mississippi if you're going to the Midwest or beyond...
Welcome back! Nice ride through Atlanta and to see the improvements in progress- as I have always loved seeing how freeways are constructed! Sorry about the delay- been kinda of busy with a few things- but nice ride! Really enjoyed it! Always good to see your vids and your commentary about the roads as I learn a lot!
I'm going to back home to ATL soon (military) and I've been binging on your Atlanta Videos since last night! You've must've heard my prayers because you put out a new video ! Thank you !
Alan Fox It certainly does...when I first went live with it this afternoon it came up at 480 but I was able to change it to 1080 with no issues and it has stayed there since.
benlonghighway It's not the 15th season, the "15" is for 2015. What do you mean "hopefully we'll see something new" I filmed different things last summer and even if it was something I filmed before I did it in a different way with a different camera....I'm only taking a 7,500 mile trip this summer you know.
Oh, sorry! I wasn't quite sure what else to say about this trip. It's hard for me to explain this in detail, but there might be cities we haven't seen yet (such as Omaha, NE). Or, there might be areas we've seen, but with better cooperation, if you know what I mean (for example, I-70's resurfacing project at the Glenwood Canyon). It's just a guess I have.
benlonghighway I got rained out in Omaha in 2013, can't help that...I think you've seen enough of my videos to know that I can present the same road in different ways but I try to film new things where I can, It's not as easy as you think, there are factors to consider like weather, time of day (lighting conditions) and traffic, I get what I can and go from there, I don't have unlimited time and money you know.
Very good point. The lighting conditions are especially key here, as I would tell you from my point of view; every time I try to take very good road photos, I need to make sure I'm not facing the sun at all, and I wanna try to avoid glare. It's not that easy. :/
FreewayJim, You need to have your own show! I watch your videos or Garbage Reality TV any day! Oh Yeah Go Braves...Im Sure you are going to Turner Field to see your Red Sox?
DTD110865 8TB is more than I need for right now but I'll be set with it for some time. What's cool about this drive is it has two swappable 4TB drives inside it so when one fills up, just buy another and keep on rolling.
I would wager that a lot of folks are like me - they heard of Cobb County via the fictional WWE "Big Boss Man" - a former guard at the CCDC (Cobb County Detention Center). The CCDC exists; however, Cobb County is not "Hicksville" - looking at Cobb County on Google Maps would disabuse you of that! If anything, Cobb County, GA is like Anne Arundel County in Maryland upsized.
redstar71 I-285's Control cities are based on the next interstate interchanges, Greenville for I-85 North and August for I-20 East and on the west side Birmingham is for I-20 West, Montgomery for I-85 South and Macon and Tampa for I-75 South, they mark that with long distance travellers in mind.
jcunninghamsts At 3:18 there are some construction cranes in the distance to the right, that is the spot. The overpass at 3:26 takes you directly to the stadium area (to the right of I-75). www.mlb.com/atl/ballpark/suntrust-park/
"Atlanta Bypass." Really? The wrong time of day, and you're not bypassing anything on 285 on its northern section. Obviously there's a SB 75 to EB 285 flyover, so is the old loop ramp, which you used here instead of the flyover, left just through pure omission or accident?
countenanceblog Not sure why it was left in the beginning but since ramp adjustments in the early 2000's it's the only way for Windy Hill Road traffic to get to I-285 East so it does have a purpose.

+gootchie Yes, it was smart of GDOT to keep it open.

Robert Hughey Thank you!
Nice tune! And nice touch at 2.47:)
*****Thank you!
Great video! And I noticed you changed your scenery in your intro! Cool! :)
tall32guy Thanks, actually it's the same scenery in the intro as last year, just a different time of day.
Yeah that's what i figured. :)
I hear about this construction on morning radio before work. Nice to see it captured on video, but glad I live in the quiet little antebellum capital.
luvcarsgay I'm sure I'll film this stretch again in a year or two to capture the progress.
I've grown to really like your videos and I'm eager to see where you're going this season! St. Louis has 1 big surprise for ya on the Mississippi if you're going to the Midwest or beyond...
Schwenda Productions Thanks, I'm going out to California and will be coming back through STL and yes I know about the new bridge :)

cjs121675 Thank you!
Great video pleasure to watch 👍
Sally LathamThanks.

maylene spann You are welcome! Safe travels and thanks for watching!
Yeah! It is about time!
Great video and an AWESOME Sammy Hagar classic in his days w/ Montrose. Bad Motor Scooter is a great road tune for the Interstate.
speedy621972Thank you, I thought it fit.
I just moved to Pittsburgh from Atlanta. I sure do miss those wide open and smooth roads!
cosmo Yeah, there's quite a difference between those two cities when it comes to the roads.
Awesome video!
dave11686 Thank you!
Another video that brings back memories from the quite a few times I've been on this stretch. Thanks for posting this one!
kbw1970 Thanks for watching!
good drive, love it
BNforever2009 Thanks!
Welcome back and good show as usual! Nice to see the "true" 1080p 60fps. It pops!
TheSolarcatcher Thank you, yes video resolution sure has come a long way over the years we've been doing this.
Freewayjim My resolution defaults to 480p. How do you set it to 1080p?
Alan Fox I don't know, usually you can do that by clicking on the gear on the lower right of the video player, I have no control over that.
Yes it seems to always go back to 480 no matter what it was set to when it was closed last. It does make a difference with video quality.
Alan Fox It certainly does...when I first went live with it this afternoon it came up at 480 but I was able to change it to 1080 with no issues and it has stayed there since.
And so the fifteenth season begins. Hopefully we'll see something new this time! :)

benlonghighway That is very true.
I thought the Alligator Alley was the final missing piece of I-75. It was completed sometime in the 90's.
dvferyance That was an add on and not part of the original path of I-75.....I-75 was initially supposed to end in Tampa
Very cool!
socarboy Thanks.
Yay, Atlanta stuff. My favorite! So stoked, how many Atlanta vids will come this year?
cjsnibbor I don't know, two for sure, it depends on if I decide to get out and film any more before I head west in June.
***** California.
Freewayjim Can't wait for the Cali ones!!
Thanks Jim.
BONITA A CIDADE DE ATLANTA JIM.
2015 season underway. A sure sign summer is almost here
Good one
FreewayJim, You need to have your own show! I watch your videos or Garbage Reality TV any day! Oh Yeah Go Braves...Im Sure you are going to Turner Field to see your Red Sox?
John Stotts Thanks for watching but no, I don't really enjoy large crowds, better for me on TV.
Awesome,as usual. :)
An 8TB external hard drive now? Damn! I thought a 4TB one was something I should strive for. My 1.5TB is a joke!
DTD110865 8TB is more than I need for right now but I'll be set with it for some time. What's cool about this drive is it has two swappable 4TB drives inside it so when one fills up, just buy another and keep on rolling.

Ah Sammy Hagar....I was surprised to see Augusta a control city for 285 seeing how only 20/520 go through there. Hmm.

FWJ, from this video....where is the new Braves Stadium supposed to be at???
