Beautifully shot and composed once again Scott!...you do realise, that seeing MRL and BNSF on the same train means I can now double my Loco roster!!....I've allways had a liking for MRL colours??? Thanks for sharing mate, top stuff. Cheers Gregg.
Thanks for this very impressive pictures. Speciely in the first seconds. It looks for me, like the perfect modell train, that i wish to have at home ;)
Excellent video! Your camera work is great. Nice smooth pans and zooming. My cheap gear doesn't allow me to get such smooth shots, though I try my hardest to. Gotta get off my wallet one of these days and get some good quaity gear. I love the consist too. SD70Ace's and SD70M-2's look so macho and pump out that beautiful 2-stroke EMD sound!
Thanks Fizzlejibbs. Westbound, from Helena Junction at the bottom of the hill to Blossberg at the top, around 17 miles, is almost all at 2.2% Comp. Eastbound is much more gradual, at about 1.4% comp.
Thanks Hans. CN has a contract to deliver coal from mines in Montana and Wyoming to Prince Rupert BC. So this train would follow MRL to Spokane WA, then through the gorge and back up the west coast though Blaine WA on BNSF trackage, and into BC.
That is a monster load of coal buckets. What is an average size coal train up that hill? The largest coal train I've handled here is about 130 or so cars, 20k ton.
Here I’m running a fiat Alice tug boat engine with full inter axel wheel lock deployment and sand spreader on the ready. Bout 850,000 tracktive drive to dah rail. Can I get a throttle up please notch seven please. Let’s go with throttle up. Pulllll
I noticed different names on the power units, does this mean that various companies owns the power unit? How many tons in this train I counted 87 cars.
Ok cool. Do you happen to know what the steepest part of the grade is? I'm out east and ran trains on sandpatch grade. The steepest point there was 1.68%. Great videos by the way.
god i just love the sound of a EMD SD70M-2 & the SD70ACe & the SD70MAC locomotives all in notch 8 pulling as hard as they can
Thanks for the comment, CN.
I'm not sure why direct current traction would be used on a heavy coal train going over mountains.
@@Jemalacane0 Just depends on what is available, although DC motors can't take the punishment on heavy bulk trains like AC can.
Wow, outstanding! when I read the description, I cranked the speakers all the way ! Great catch and more beautiful country ! great work !
Excellent video. I liked the mixture of BNSF and CN motive power as well as the MRL mid train helper units.
Thanks for posting.
John
It's rare to see only EMD power on a BNSF train. Great catch on the CN run through power too!
Great camera work Scott - and the interesting combination of locos was a bonus!
Thanks Herr Scott for the outstanding vid and sounds so.. Unmatched.Bliss

what a wonderful loco combination up front, excellent

Awesome video, awesome sound. That's all I can say.
Another MEGA train beautifully captured... thanks for sharing, Scott!
From my recollection, fizzlejibbs, the average is around 110 hoppers. I've seen plenty of 125 car sets, and some 100's. Thanks for commenting

Thank you amigo for you beautiful video saludos
I figured it must be pretty significant to need all those horsies. We usually only needed 2 big ones up front and 3 on the rear.

Another great video. Those MRL SD70ACe's look really sharp, I wish Kato would make them in N scale.
У вас также как в России локомотивы ставят в начале в середине и в конце.в самом конце ставят толкающие они помогают преодолеть подъём мощный
I haven't sure. Are they going down or up???
So relaxing to watch.
Nice vid love the variety on that train

I’m guessing that is coal from the PRB?
Привет из России!👍👍
Very nice! Keep posting!
I love those EMDs. Nice FJ Cruiser.
Love those EMD's! Very amazing video! Where is it at?

each loaded car is around 100 tons

Esse sabe filmar, parabéns!
This is west of Helena, toward Mullan Pass, between Birdseye and Austin. Thanks for commenting
Not enough coal. They needed one more coal car.. that would have done it.
Fav'ed too!
Thanks Z. That FJ has crawled all over Mullan !!
Thanks 8162print47, and I apologize for the late reply.
👍
Too bad you had to stop short of showing the entire train.☹️
was this one of the trains that came into alberta a few years ago? facebook me. alex fried
Love your videos
