I think because he did not stick to the style, which became popular. Personally, I loved him for the songs from the album "long way down"

I happen to be a composer of classical music, so I've heard some amazing music in my life, and Tom Odell has given a great gift to anyone who cares to listen, these truly heartfelt songs. Thanks so much for that.

Maybe one of the most beautifully done songs I heard this year. Absolutely magnificent.

Tom Odell is the king of songs about love as it really is... One beautiful mess of thorns and roses that we find so amazing but is bound to hurt us in some way, even when carefully handled.
So refreshing to see young and talented artists, no booty shaking no golden teeth, that's what we need. You know when i listen to Tom Odell i experience such a powerful feeling that humanity will become better. He cheers me up :).
