You know I'll be honest, if demon slayer had this many females and they were all just as property written as the males in the original, it be one of my top favorite animes. So many animes have female badasses as simply that, badasses. But there's not much else to their character outside of that. Like could you all imagine if Tanjirou was originally a woman in this anime? I'd be shouting "YEAH GO GIRL GOOOOO!!!! KILL THAT FUCKER!!!" Cause she would've gone through the same thing as the Canon Tanjirou. Other than her gender nothing much would be different. We are all used to seeing well written male badasses, but I would love to see a female badass that was just as well written. Yeah I know demon slayer is more targeted towards boys then girls (so is anime in general tbh) but it’s something I’d just like to see more of ya know?
I recommend the Jujutsu Kaisen manga then, it’s got a great female cast. And yes, shounen is, as it’s name implies, a genre targeted toward teenage guys. I wouldn’t say all of anime, there are other genres made to be enjoyable to women
Gintama's female characters are so well written. All of it. I have no words to describe it but basically the mangaka is so good to balance the script not just to make man good, but also female. I really recommend you to check it out!
