Thank you for your great reaction. Yes, in Indonesia we do have different Gamelan, Balinese, Javanese and Sundanese, some instruments just made different kind of sound. Yes, Balinese Gamelan is played in different events, religious, wedding, traditional dance, welcoming guests, to entertain people in general. Almost in every village of Bali, they do have Gamelan, some are very old, some are new ones. Most plays are traditional types, but some new modern ones are also being created. In the US, I know for some major Universities do have a complete set of Balinese Gamelan like the UW at Madison, WI and there is also a famous group from Colorado, I believe. So Gamelan has been known for hundred of years and becoming popular also among foreigners like Americans, Europeans and other Asian countries.
