- This video shows you the fastest path from the plane, through the airport arrival area, to the Airport Express Train terminal. It shows how to buy a discounted student ticket or a senior citizen ticket from the vending machine.
Flytoget is the fastest way to get from Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) to Central Station in Oslo. The word "flytoget" simpy means "the air train" in Norwegian, and translates into airport express train.
The regular one-way ticket to or from Oslo Central Station costs 180 NOK, and there is no discount for return tickets. The simplest way to purchase a regular ticket is to swipe your credit card at the gates at the Airport Express Train terminal.
If you have one of the following, you may purchase a 50% discounted ticket from one of the vending machines:
* Proof that you are a student, 31 y/o or younger
* Proof that you are 20 y/o or younger
* Proof that you are a senior citizen
* Proof that you are 67 y/o or older
Children aged 15 y/o or younger traveling with an adult aged 18 y/o or older (any kind of ticket) travel free of charge.
Tickets are not valid for transfer to public transportation in Oslo
For each ticket sold at the ticket desk, a service fee of 20 NOK will be added (10 for discounted tickets).

I recently visited Oslo and can't understand why anyone would use this train since the normal NSB trains are half the price and only take about five minutes longer to reach Oslo Central Station. There are ticket machines for the NSB trains adjacent to those for the flytoget. Once you've got your ticket, head to platform 4 and take the next NSB train. You can also get half price tickets on NSB if you're 67 or over or are a student.
Nice detailed video of your way from the plane to the train!
Flytoget is now only 1 minute faster than the normal train. The only differences are now that you can just swipe your credit card to enter the platform and that there are more Flytogets an hour. If you can wait max. 30 minutes for a local train, you'll save half of the price (90 NOK instead of 180 NOK).
Thanx for the video - getting to the airport of a foreign country and finding our way to the City Center is not always easy! Your video really comes in handy!
Leaving for Oslo tomorrow, this was a great help and has really put my mind at ease! Thanks!
Very clear and informative video. Thanks for sharing. Much needed information for my trip to Oslo next week. :)
If every Norwegian in Oslo speaks English like you, I’m gonna go from fainting spell to fainting spell, and may require smelling salts. You are criminally adorable.
Thank you very much for the excellent information.
Wonderful - thanks.
Will be visiting Oslo soon - feel like I know the place already :)
Great again dude!
Tank you at 🇮🇹❤🇸🇯
Hi Jonas, I like very much your video. Thank you very much I’m going to Oslo on 25th Oct. I plan to take NSB train instead. Is the train station location same place?
The NSB train is the same place. The train station at Gardermoen has been rebuilt and it looks a bit different now.
I literally love you for this video!! just two quick questions: all in all, would you recommend fly to get or regular train? and, does my national student card apply for a student discount? thanks for your videos!
Nathy Mora What do you mean by fly to get? If you mean regular train or the planetrain (flytoget) the planetrain is faster, but also more expensive. The train to Eidsvoll stops at Gardermoen so you could take that train. It's cheaper and comes to about 93kr for students. I don't know if the international student card applies any discounts at all, I don't think so at least. You can ask nsb of course. Travel safe!

On page 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27 you can see the departures with the Eidsvoll train from Gardermoen.
Nathy Mora I would in all cases take the airplane train if you are a student. Then the price is around the same but the airplane express train is faster and goes more often. I just find it way easier and nicer. The trains are quick, with power and wifi and are completely silent.
What about the regular train for NOK92 aprox.? Is that also a good option instead of FLYTOGET?
+SPORT PHOTOS COSTA RICA I've heard many people use the regular slow train. Haven't used it myself, but I suppose it's good.
OsloPro it's very good there is only 5min diffrent between both trains
I'm staying at the airport for nearly 5 hours. Do you think this is enough time to visit Oslo city center and come back to the airport or not?
Going next week hope to not get lost
Sir, 1. can we pay cash while booking tickets from ticket booth instead of visa or MasterCard, for flytoget? 2. Will admission letter of UiO be enough for student discount if one doesn't have student card from university?? thanks for your answers in advance!! :-)
For each ticket sold at the ticket desk, a service fee will be added to that ticket. This amount is 20 NOK per ticket. Any discounted tickets will have a 10 NOK fee. The ticket desk is to the left of the gates, at 02:10, but you cannot see it in the video.
I don't know what the official stance is regarding the proof, but I would just buy the student ticket. I have traveled on a student discount many times, and nobody ever asked me for any proof. I can't believe that they are that strict, especially with foreigners. You could ask them at the ticket desk, or drop them a mail at flytoget@flytoget.no
Cheers!
+OsloPro thank you very much sir for your kind answers, that's very helpful!!
Maybe you would like to check my video guide to the UiO campus, which I made this weekend: ua-cam.com/video/x0pzTPZnQdU/v-deo.html
Just saying, since you mentioned that you have been admitted to UiO.
+OsloPro yeah thanks
So if i understand this correctly. When i want to get form airport to Central station and i need just regular adult ticket , i dont need to buy a ticket from that first vending machine around luggage area , just simply go to customs turn right to turnstile to Express train and just use my credit card to buy a ticket. Did i get it right?
Yes, just swipe your card at the turnstile. The train station at Gardermoen has been rebuilt. It doesn't look like that anymore. But it's still at the same place.
Hi can I pay by cash for the train ticket at the machine ticket?
The escalator is not " painfully slow".It will not " take some time" to receive your baggage at baggage claim if by that snarky comment he means longer than most other airports. False, it's faster than most big city airports. It now costs 190 kroners , not 180 Norwegian kroneers , but though the 22 minute ride is smooth and super fast , take instead the almost as fast , 25 to 30 minute ride via the NSB local train at track 4 there which is a huge savings folks at just 101 Kroners ( or $12.62 in USD , approximately)!
How much is the local train round trip vs the flytoget round trip? are they both located in the airport?
Does the NSB run 24 hours a day? I have a 6am flight so I need to see when to leave city center.
Yeah it does.
I am on a visa in Oslo and I have Indian student id card. Am I eligible for the student discount?
yes
OSLO
How long is a ticket valid?
until it is scanned
