Well there's like 3-4 deaths on the TT Isle of Man each year. Since it's a private race by a crown dependent island, they can make this as unsafe as they want, they don't own anybody an explanation for a lack of security measures since they've got their own laws.
Yeah but aren't sidecarts raced in other events aswell? Like the FIM Superside Series? Isn't FIM like FIA for bikes? I will admit to have very limited knowledge about these things. But the bit about the TT is very intressting
But these cars ARE the pinnacle of motorsport technology. The only thing even remotely close to an F1 car in terms of it's technological advancement are LMP1 cars and even they aren't as fast as F1 cars if you go by the official rule sets. F1 is trying to get safer and that is definitely okay and good. I don't want people to die for my amusement and weirdly enough the same people that mourn Senna's death are the ones that say F1 has gotten too safe. I for one think it is great they are trying to make these cars safer. Putting your lives at stake is not what made this sport great and the drivers are still risking their lives every time they enter the car. Halo, HANS and monocoque aside, if you're straight up hitting a wall at 200mp/h you are going to die regardless of any safety measures in place. I think people are just extremely overexaggerating the whole deal. F1 isn't currently on a downswing because of the Halo or safety, it's on a downswing because of weird circuit choices, dirty air, stewards that hand out 10 second penalties if you even look the wrong way towards another driver, budget differences and a number of other factors.
Sidecar racing is for people who don't get enough of a thrill from high speed motorcycle racing. Kinda like how proximity flying is for people who just don't get a buzz from base jumping.
I remember these... I was at TT Circuit Assen and they crashed but one got flung to the track again.. He was sitting mid turn and well you can guess the rest. Sadly he didn't survive. big respect to the people who drive these.
MustagedWorld I have nothing but respect for these people especially the one sitting on the sidecar. They have to be the one leaning in different directions using only a bar..
For anybody who is sitting in front of their screen, wondering about how and why and what. Sidecars were very common in Europe back in between and shortly after the world wars. Cars were too expensive for the common man and motorcycles aren't the most practical means of transport, attaching a sidecar changed that. One could transport his family, just as we see it today from places like India with a bit of ingenuity one can even move his house on a sidecar. As a result, sidecars were everywhere, which also meant that racing them was popular. Back in the 50s sidecar races had more attendants and higher price money than solo bike racing. (Both on and off road). But as cars became affordable these quite strange contraptions disappeared and so did the race series. Motocross Sidecar Racing was quite popular up until the late 70s as it was quite a spectacle to watch, fast racing, big engines, jumps and what not, but it's an absolute niche sport today. If you have a Motocross track locally nearby, go there, maybe some sidecarcrosser is going to let you stand in his sidecar for a lap or too, it’s an absolute blast, and propably the closest you can get to real racing.
Personally I prefer being a passenger than the driver, I compete on sidecar trials at a national level in the UK and being honest I feel safer. Sidecars always pull slightly to the left due to the offset drive wheel what puts me off from driving and if something does go wrong, its easier for the passenger to get away from the thing, especially for those road racers where the driver more wears the bike instead of sitting on it.
A dislocated shoulder for being launched is better than a smashed hip because you get tangled up in it. It's happened to people I know and that was at low speeds.
I remember, about 40 years ago now, going to the Hawkesbury road races to watch the bikes and sidecars race. One particular sidecar outfit had built their bike, an Astuta, with the sidecar on the right rather than the left. On the longest straight on the circuit the Yamaha TZ750s could reach speeds in excess of 170 mpg, around 270 km/h. At the end there was a very fast left/right combination followed by a slower right/left over a bridge. For everyone else this involved the swinger (passenger) being up over the rear wheel for the right and then throwing themselves down to hang out for the left. For the swinger on the Astuta 750 this was reversed and on the first lap of the first race they crashed at that corner. The second year the Astuta, now in 1000cc capacity, crashed at the same corner on the first lap of the first race. Still, they got off lightly compared to the crew of the Kawasaki 1000. The races inevitably came down to the speed of the Kawasaki against their rivals endurance on their Suzuki 738. Endurance because the race was four long laps but the Kawasaki's fuel tank only held enough for three. As a result the Kwaka had to build up enough of a lead to be able to refuel at the side of the track and then try to run down the Suzuki over the final lap, which it usually managed. However, on the last year races were held, things did not go according to plan. The bike came racing in to refuel, the swinger lept off so the fuel tank could be accessed and as the fuel was going in the Suzuki swept in to Bluegums corner and accelerated away. Refueling complete the fuel cap was replaced, the swinger lept back aboard and the driver accelerated turning tight left... and misjudged the turn. Despite realising his error and braking, the front of the bike nudged into the gum tree. Again leaping off, the swinger pushed the bike back, remounted and the driver again accelerated away. Over the rise, through the hollow, round the fast right hander and accelerating down the following straight. It was at that point that the small fracture in the fairing tore open with the result that the bike was dragged visciously to the right sending both men through the wire sheep fence that ran beside the track. They both survived but suffered some nasty injuries as you can imagine.
When you go in a right corner you need to go to the right with the passenger more often so you dont drift in. To get grip on the rear tyre is as important as to hold the sidecartyre down.
Most racing isn't street racing it's around cat and bike tracks. Street races like this can be dangerous. And there's arent the type of sidecars that go on dirt
I've ridden a sidecar for over 35 years now. One big thing is that a sidecar outfit is not a car, its an assymetric vehicle. All the drive and engine braking is on the bike side. You have to think of the sidecar as a weight attached that sort of does its own thing. When you accelerate it wants to stay behind, when you brake it wants to eep going straight ahead. So if you back off causing engine braking in a right hander, the whole outfit wants to turn extremely even spinning. It snaps very easy because it has a short wheelbase. Time behind the cars helps to learn what it does. I love riding my sidecar on loose dirt roads. It looks totally out of control but pretty well always goes where the front wheel is aimed so it is controllable. All that said I've no idea how well the physics of a virtual race sidecar in a game mimick actual sidecar dynamics. Try braking approaching the right handers, then steady throttle around the corner. Slow approach to left handers then accelerate through the corner (accelerate around the sidecar)
Fun fact, we don't typically wear bike boot's as the co-pilot, they don't offer enough grip and they restrict movement too much. Typically we'll wear something like a pair of Sparco racing shoes.
Wow this is cool If you haven’t ridden a sidecar you may not know that it is nothing like riding a normal motorbike, you steer the bike more than lean it A passengers job is critical
I thought all things considered you did pretty good tbh, especially as you don't ride bikes irl which regardless of what anyone else say's "DOES" matter when playing games/simulators like this. Another point worth noting is that even a good handling outfit could only be described as sketchy and that's being generous lol, the fella's that ride these are the bravest of the brave........
Just a quick tip if you want to slow down the bikes i suggest you use dropping the gear plus press the accelerator too. Example i use B for gearing up & X for gearing down if i want to slow down i will ease up the throttle & drop the gear down simultaneously. Try it.
Sidecars have much more grip than a solo. You can absolutely throw them into corners. They have flat floors and so a little ground effect with very wide slicks. The men at the tt go flat though nearly all the corners. Check out the real onboards to get an impression.
2 minutes in to this and the passenger is casually working just before the dip at the bottom of bray. As someone who has actually done it (as a passenger) this makes me LOL 🤣
The sidecar is known as an 'outfit'. The passenger often gets his weight over the back wheel to aid grip, and as you see moves his weight to keep the sidecar down. There is a technique to sidecar racing. You need to accelerate slightly when turning left and not when turning right...
Yes but you can open the throttle in either corner. Spin up the rear wheel and slide through virtually any corner, unless of course the thing is already pinned. Then all three wheels remain on the black stuff, with the rider controlling the cornering via the rear wheel and opposite locking the front wheel.
When you come to think of it, racing like this is tantamount to huge stone walls, trees, people and houses flying at you at 200 mph. You have to dodge them for your very life depends on it.
I'd just like to point out that the sidecars and the regular motorcycles in this game use the same handling model as the rally cars in WRC6. This is especially apparent with the sidecars.
I think becourse of the weight of the sidecar; when you open the throttle the thing will want to turn left, when closing the throttle it will try to go right
me and my father had a sidecar motorcycle for the street. it was not nice to ride and on long tours, it was very exhausting but all poeple were looking and all children wanted to sit in the sidecare. So for us it was like a show bike.
Hadn't heard about it either. Just went to check it out.. Oh my god the sense of speed is so bad compared to something like Initial D. Everything is way too cartoony to make anything look remotely exciting :(
The racing line in this game is just a reference. It's so often wrong and shows "FFS slow down you are too fast". The problem then with it is, the hole track in front of you is blocked in view with red crosses. Therefor i'd say it's harder to play with than without the racing line.
An avid bike rider, though pretty out of shape, felt like he was going to fall off after 3 laps on a regular short circuit. Despite the driver was only going at 30%!. 44teeth has the video.
Can we get a petition going to bring the Prodrive Subaru lap record holding car into the game? I think the physics and handling on these sidecars is just wrong but I reckon Kylotonn should be able to do a decent car. And who doesn't want to run this circuit in a rally car?!
Maybe on the right hand corner, the passenger needs to lean to the left to keep the wheels down. If the passenger leans to the right the weight is all over on the right.
There is no leaning on a sidecar. Horizontal G forces are the go. But unlike an upright bike, both rider and passenger feel all the sideways G force, as they can't lean into a corner as a motorcycle does.
On the right hand corner the passenger leans right to give the rear wheel grip. On the left we lean left to to stop the chair wheel coming up. The game is really unrealistic with the fact that the bike flips on a right hander, the only time that really happens in real life is if the backend breaks away and you spin enough to fail the bike
Don’t press read more. You poor poor fool I told you not to bother Those fingers hurting yet?😘 So close! You’ve come so far Take this medal my friend 🏅
Great looking game, I hope either they make the track available for other games, or they themselves add cars to it. I would love to drive around it in a sim car, and the AC track just doesn't look right to me.
Better still try You Tube for CRAZY ON BOARD SIDECAR SOUTHERN 100 ISLE OF MAN a July evening on the islands smaller circuit and not a Sharon bum fumble to be seen.
I think sometimes you crash because you're counter steering during the corner which completely upsets the balance of the bike. I might be totally wrong I don't know anything more than you do about sidecars :b
My grandad and dad both raced sidecars at the TT my grandad actually won a few I think and my dad got best newcomer. Mick Boddice and Mick Boddice jr (Michael Boddice)
F1 need a halo because the driver is too exposed, sidecart racing? nah he has handle bars, he is safe!
Uhhh, the driver also only has the handlebars. That's not even a remotely fair comparison.
Well there's like 3-4 deaths on the TT Isle of Man each year. Since it's a private race by a crown dependent island, they can make this as unsafe as they want, they don't own anybody an explanation for a lack of security measures since they've got their own laws.

True, but still sidecars are just as dangerous as regular bike racing which is FUCKING dangerous

couldn't have said it better.
JSR Devon what?
My brother is a sidecar passenger..🤣🤣🤣
They put some CRAZY motors in them they don't have alot or rules everything from rotary valves 2t v4s to 1000cc v8s
I swear your voice was born for commentating
Sam Corazzi when he does the vr gameplays, he gets so into it, it almost sounds like an actual racing commentary lol its fantastic
Cyka Blyat yeah!
Sam Corazzi totally agree
Reminds me a lot of Murray Walker
I've been following him for a few weeks now and i really think so too. I'd like to hear him commentating F1 or some kind of professional racing.
To make this more realistic they should include the screams of the sidecar passenger.
No time to scream ! Try You Tube for CRAZY ON BOARD SIDECAR SOUTHERN 100 ISLE OF MAN a July evening on the islands smaller course
And locals, keep your pets indoors
The first 2018 TT practice lap literally starts in five minutes! I can here them warming up from my house
Keep your cat indoors

Google Sidecar racing crash Shane Soutar
If it goes wrong, simple. It is going to hurt.
*On tonight's episode, Jimmer does an speedyboi...meanwhile his passenger does an renault escape*
This channel even gets the cool Porsche 24hrs of Nurburgring ads..
Well played google

Not sure how the bikes get up to that kind of speed, hauling around the riders huge balls
Hunter Isaac "bikes"
john carl trikes i guess?
I was a passenger for a season on the British MiniMoto sidecar championship. I learnt how to hold on well,
The only reason a sidecar can turn is the passenger flinging around their massive steel balls.
this in co-op would be the next level.
When you go in a right corner you need to go to the right with the passenger more often so you dont drift in.
To get grip on the rear tyre is as important as to hold the sidecartyre down.
Reminds me of a supervisor at a previous workplace, he was passenger in sidecars at Spa. A brave man indeed :)
Can't believe this is actually a thing. This is suicidal.
it's super fun to watch alot of it is on dirt and not as fast
It looks worse than it actually is. Once you get going it’s fine. Getting ready to set off you are asking yourself wtf am I doing?!?!

Saw the sidecars at Oulton park the other weekend along with the BSB, absolutely fucking insane

Sidecar racing is for when you want to personally introduce your shoulder to the asphalt without having to try and save a front-end lowside.
They need to hire you for motorsport commentating asap. Would bring a fresh change to the old boys who do it at the moment
When you come to think of it, racing like this is tantamount to huge stone walls, trees, people and houses flying at you at 200 mph. You have to dodge them for your very life depends on it.

It's probably just as scary being the rider because your passenger's life is in your hands and you're relying on him to keep the bike stable.
It is pure teamwork takes both to do the right thing at the right time to go fast.
Left that passenger with multiple fractures and a lost voice box from goin..
"UURGH" 😯😵😣 on impact
I think becourse of the weight of the sidecar; when you open the throttle the thing will want to turn left, when closing the throttle it will try to go right
What is remarkable with this game the detail of the hedges and flora and fauna
me and my father had a sidecar motorcycle for the street. it was not nice to ride and on long tours, it was very exhausting but all poeple were looking and all children wanted to sit in the sidecare. So for us it was like a show bike.
They corner faster than a superbike IRL. My dad used to race these as a pillion back in the 70s.
Jimmy there is a very good anime based on side car racing it's kinda set on the isle of man too but it's all Japan
Its called Two Car
I was utterly surprised that Jimmy hadn't heard of Two Car. What a filthy casual. :D
Hadn't heard about it either. Just went to check it out.. Oh my god the sense of speed is so bad compared to something like Initial D. Everything is way too cartoony to make anything look remotely exciting :(
I checked it out and I can honestly say that it's the biggest piece of garbage I've seen in years. Thanks for poisoning my eyes dude!
Mario Kart Double Dash
I have a friend who used to be the sidecar man for this type of racing. Yes he is quite mad. No fear about anything.
ive decided to be a rebel and watch a video of side car racing before finishing this video
Playing it at an apt time, TT practice week started on Saturday the 26th May.
Just imaging what it must feel like driving one of those and halo in F1 seems like a fcking joke...
Im driving a sidecar on the dirt track and also love this kind of sidecar racing
I have seen sidecar motocross in real life, now thats really interesting
Gives a whole new meaning to hauling ass
Can we get a petition going to bring the Prodrive Subaru lap record holding car into the game? I think the physics and handling on these sidecars is just wrong but I reckon Kylotonn should be able to do a decent car. And who doesn't want to run this circuit in a rally car?!
Jimmy's crash test dummies die:

I guess it's a very big sport in Europe, but youd have to be crazy to do it!
They will be racing them tonight 👍
And sidecars actually corner faster than the bikes, 70% of their lap is at full throttle
01:43 ok so i had something in my mind thought i saw this irl already - EEEEH NOPE XDDDDDDD edit: madness^^
Sidecar subscriber race when?
I've seen them irl, its spooky to see the guys at the back like that!!
A like for the wonderful resurrection skill of the racers.
The thing that is even more crazy is sidecar motorscross
omg it is
Actually I would say speedway or long track grass sidecars are even worse. 1000cc with no brakes.
i guess, but the jumps and the really high/vertical hairpins look like such a fucking rush, just search it up man
it does, search it uP!
Subd love your videos man. Keepem coming.
This game has some great graphics
My friend had a crash at this track. Right where the bump is at 11:48. There's some wicked photos
Jimmy i was think the same thing trolling as the passenger haha , them crashes were fucking hilarious couldnt stop laughing
Hey Jimmy, unrelated to this video. But are you going to try out gRally? It just came out a couple days ago. from some devs from RSRBR
Sidecar racing. Because golf, football and cricket only need one ball
Reminder that there's also sidecar cross
Well, I guess technically you are always just holding to bars for dear life while riding a bike.
It's like QWOP for racing games.
Nice T-shirt mate!
Sidecar racing on the Isle of Man.
For when racing between trees and stone walls at 200mph on a normal bike just isn't bonkers enough for you...
I'm a passenger on a sidecar in real life, it's a shit tonne of fun!
Over here we have an motoX event with sidecars but its dirt short oval and the bikes dont have any brakes
Sidecar- rally on a track but the co driver is manuever and the driver is the driver
I actually did not know people raced these things
Don’t press read more.
You poor poor fool
I told you not to bother
Those fingers hurting yet?😘
So close! You’ve come so far
Take this medal my friend 🏅
Great looking game, I hope either they make the track available for other games, or they themselves add cars to it.
I would love to drive around it in a sim car, and the AC track just doesn't look right to me.
You get 1 like for the "KANSEI DORIFTOOOO" tshirt
I wonder if Jimmy has ever seen sidecar motocross ...
I hope they add time attack cars to this
Check out 44teeths channel, they did a sidecar video a couple of days ago.
