It's great to see Bryan Adams given his due by one of his fellow musicians. So few people ever talk about him. An incredibly underrated songwriter and musician.
'Underrated'? Dear God, this 'underrated' youtube comments section psychosis is truly like some sort of fetish. It's very odd, but also quite intriguing. I wonder what drives it psychologically. 'Underrated' - a meaningless term applied to literally almost every single THING on youtube.
Bryan Adams original soundtrack for the movie "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron." SLAPS HARD. His music alongside animated horses with expressive human eyebrows is something I didn't know I needed in my life until I had it. Now things will never be the same.
Sounds very bland a samey, but then again, I'm not a fan and just listened to the first 30s of each song to be fair.. All very well executed, performed, recorded and Bryan Adams has always done a great Rod Stewart impression, voice-wise... and lyrics-wise too - love-rock.. Almost all his songs seem to be about relationships... Boring, from an altertnative standpoint, but accomplished, polished boring, bland samey easy listening, pop-rock kind of way.

I first heard of Bryan Adams in the summer of 1985 when our family was on holiday in Canada. He was on all the radio stations and when we got back to the UK, my dad went out and bought the Reckless album. It was a mainstay album in our family car ever since alongside The Joshua Tree from U2.
Bryan’s songs…and voice taught me what true love could really be like. I remember listening to his songs on my Walkman, before falling asleep….as a teenager. His songs will always have a deep and personal connection with me. Whenever someone tries to justify today’s modern pop… I respectfully direct them to a Bryan Adams song.
@@derekpink There are certainly some real killer songs on here but I always thought of it more as a Mutt album. His songwriting and production smothers BA’s ‘edge’. It’s like 75 minutes of bombast. 😅
Reckless is an absolute monster of an album. The drum sound is still hard to beat to this day. It’s well known that the goods lift was involved but apparently the kit wasn’t set up in the lift, they put mics in the lift ( it was metal ) and opened the door from live room to let the drum sound travel down the hall to be up by the mics in the lift.. The snare hit after the line “everywhere I go the kids wanna rock” is like someone slamming a castle drawbridge in your face! Genius..
Bryan came up to me while i was playing bass on the streets of london and asked me to possibly play live for him for a euro leg of a tour a few years back for Get Up! i did infact end up trying out and spent 3 days with the band in the UK, didnt get the gig in the end but got to learn a lot of Bryans songs anyway!
@@RichRobinson i spent way more time with the band and crew but he is a great guy, (and also vegan like me) but more so.. his crew do an amazing job keeping the show on the road and are all very kind and hard working and his band are top top fellas
My father introduced me to Bryan Adams' music when I was 12, and since then I've been listening to him. One of the best! Simple, lovely, good music. Great. Also, my father is a genius choosing singers and bands to show me.
The summer I did my GCSEs, he was no.1 when we broke up at school (way back in 1991, kids). He was no.1 all summer. When we came back in the Sixth Form in September, he was still number one. Just crazy. Great voice. Writes rock solid songs. And just keeps going.
"An album where every track is a floor-filling mega-banger" is how I would describe your own Permission To Land. Literally plays like a Greatest Hits album!
I got to see Adams perform in concert a few times... His guitarist Keith Scott is a really tasteful yet understated guitarist.. always putting the song first. Super tight band.
Waking Up the Neighbours was the first album I ever wanted to buy. I remember being 7 and seeing it in an overpriced mall shop and my parents said no. I was gutted! But there it was under the tree at Christmastime. Still love that album 30 years later! I am so happy to see you singing his praises
Reckless was my introduction to RocknRoll when I was about 10. Saw the first single on a video on CBC it was "Run to You" which my cousin thought he wrote for his guitar and I staunchly denied that at the time but now think its true. Thanks for reminding me how much I love that Album. Still remember all the lyrics to "Summer of 69" also he introduced me to Tina Turner on "Its Only Love" When I left home I routinely had him singing " She's Only Happy When She's Dancing" "Looks in the window fixes her hair/ nobody notices, nobody cares" I sort of fell off the Bryan Adams fan wagon when my head was turned by Grunge and Soundgarden and Chris Cornell. So thanks for reminding me how great he really is
I discovered Bryan in 1992 aged 15 and he’s provided the soundtrack through my life ever since. Seen him live countless times, own just about everything he’s ever put out single and album wise. I own and listen to lots of different types of music and bands etc but always end up back to Bryan Adam’s! Consistently brilliant.
So agree with this. The version of "Fits Ya Good" is incredible as well and you can't talk about that unplugged album without mentioning the masterpiece that is "Back to You".
As a Canadian, I would also like to point out that he also wrote my personal favourite Rememberance Day song as well. Brian Adams is the responsible artist for the first tape I ever owned as well.
have such love for BA!! My dad used to work security at the Brighton Centre back in the day, sometimes as artist liason, and he always loved it when Bryan was there as he was always apparently the nicest man going and as my dad would always tell me 'He's the only man ive ever seen come onstage for soundcheck with a pint mug of tea' and that love of him has passed on to me, as im going to see him 4 times in one week! the 3 nights at the albert hall, and then hes back at the Brighton Centre a few days after.
“Reckless” is a must-have in anyones music collection. Even though Bryan has had so many great songs from later albums, he’s never released an album as good as this one. Thank you Justin for covering this one. Very spot-on review. I wouldn’t mind hearing The Darkness covering the whole album based on how you sang in this video. 😅
Bryan Adams is a class act - I saw him many years ago in Brighton and after the gig he spent time chatting to fans at the stage door, kindly signed an album cover for me , which in a move to New Zealand I fear has now been lost sadly .He also campaigned against hunting whales . I once saw him play an open air gig in Guildford when he pulled a guy up to duet on the song that Mel from the Spice Girls sang...the guy worked in a camera shop - I can't help thinking Bryan had visited the shop during the day being into cameras and had asked the guy to sing - they must have rehearsed it as the camera shop assistant knew it word perfect !
Wow. This was awesome. As a Canadian who grew up with Adams, I had no idea how far reaching his music was. Hearing you go through this album, I was struck with how many incredible songs there were. Reminds me of Mutt Lange’s intention when he produced Def Leppard’s Hysteria: That every single song should be hit-single worthy.
Just went and watched him last week with my old band mate. In our hometown Vancouver. :) great show and back with his original drummer Pat Stewart. It was a treat to see them back together after so many years. Stripped down bare stage and just rock. Cheers.
His work on Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron with the genius Hanz Zimmer(who wrote Video killed the radio star) is JAW DROPPING GREAT Some of the most beautiful songs you ever done heard GUARANTEED Just Amazing
I can find no evidence of Hans Zimmer having any involvement with the composition of VKTRS en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Killed_the_Radio_Star He (Hans) played with them (Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes) and was featured in the VKTRS music video but he doesn't appear to have contributed to writing the song.
Bryan Adams is the best live singer I’ve ever seen, he has yet to capture that performance on a record and that says a lot because the records are amazing. I never miss a show when he comes to Winnipeg.
I saw Bryan Adams support The Police at their Final concert in Melbourne Australia back in early 1984. He only had 1 minor hit at the time. (Cuts like a knife) yet he commanded the huge stage (it was a 1 day festival) and absolutely slayed the 80,000 people who really didnt know who he was. I knew then we'd be hearing more from this dude. As far as his songs go, he co-wrote War Machine and Rock n Roll Hell with Gene Simmons foe Kiss' amazing Creatures of the Night album those are my 2 fave Bryan Adams songs.
I heard that Run to You is about his guitar Justin, I have been mocked when I have relayed. Whether Bryan was joking when he said this I cannot confirm. But I did hear him say this in an interview a very long time ago. I really appreciate you revering Bryan Adams. I do hear him admired within his peers by admired I mean shown respect. But with further public who only listened to Everything I do I do it for you and When you're gone, they do not appreciate his sound. I have won many over advising go see him Live and then you will know. To hear someone like yourself a such a talent of rock himself, speak so respectfully of the man is heartwarming.
My band had the good fortune of supporting Bryan Adams on Feb 8th, 1997 in Launceston, Tasmania. I will never forget being at soundcheck and walking past Bryan. He gave me a friendly, warm smile and a nod. To be in the presence of someone who'd written the soundtrack to my teenage years was mind-blowing. Sadly, I didn't get the courage to chat to him but I would probably have been a babbling mess anyway :)
Probably the most amazing thing about Bryan Adams is his incredible, shredding voice. Notice Justin goes into falsetto to hit those notes but Bryan just screams it out in all his chest voice glory.
Raised in Montreal in the 80s so I was lucky to see Bryan play LIVE there many times as he was quickly becoming world-famous. He was then and still is an incredible LIVE performer .. The album before Reckless, 'Cuts Like a Knife' is also brilliant .. well worth a listen if you enjoy Bryan's music.
Bryan Adams was a co-writer of one of the band KISS’s heaviest songs called War Machine off the creatures of the night LP. Good songs are good songs and they can be played in any genre. Also the darkness is an amazing band and I can’t wait till you guys reschedule your California tour dates. I’d love to see you again.
Reckless is a masterpiece of catchy rock songs .. some great guitar tones throughout with Keith Scott ripping some fabulous lead guitar .. always been one of my favourites.
Oh... and you are so right about the way "Kids wanna rock" drops on to "it's only love", but it works even better on "so far so good" where on it lays the path for 'Heat of the Night"... f'amazing!
I would never have considered myself an admirer of Bryan Adams, but back when I was a hip youngster, I would always sit down with my guitar and play along whenever his 80's classics came on MTV... That duet with Tina Turner is, jeez - a total tune. Stonking guitar riffs and a solo near all the way through.
So many of the people I admire admire Bryan Adams! Bryan's unique, raspy tone is often attributed to his ability to sing through his polyps, which can arguably be judged as a natural gift. Still, living up to one's innate talent can be a genuine challenge - I wish... Though I'd have to work my butt off to grow a voice half as great, I still cherish the thought that Bryan and I share a common trait: a taste for deli meats - I'll get my hands on Reckless, for sure. Thanks!
I was thirteen and played this album on tape over and over till the cassette deck ate it up. Love the memories. I played Run to You in a cover band some years ago. Love Bryan Adams.
I forgot (until you reminded me) all about those songs on Reckless. Every time I hear them on the radio I sing along and know them by heart - the mark of a great song/songs. I saw him at a festival in Ireland in the early ’90’s and he rocked the place. Great video Justin - keep them coming.
I always say or write that whatever I am currently obsessed with is the greatest and best thing of all time. Denis Leary movies. Damien Rice. Car Crash While Hitch Hiking - Another Denis, Denis Jonhson you jerks, Razorblade Suitcase by Bush, and Three Days by Janes Addiction as the greatest 9-minute-plus song on an album that has 3 songs that long. This is the greatest UA-cam chanel and I love how Justin pronounces timbre. Thank you, amigo, and your intro song is the greatest of all intro songs. And, Bryan Adams is an international treasure - Thanks, dude.
BA is a quiet over achiever who has contributed so many great songs to the world over the years. I once played/sang in a BA tribute band and it was so much fun and it’s not till you break down the songs and try to play them that you realise how clever they are!
Reckless is one of the masterpiece albums of the 80s and Bryan is surely one of the greatest pop-rock songwriters/singer/performer out there - and still churning out amazingly good records! His live concerts are not to be missed. Awesome tribute video to this album, Justin! Huge fan of the channel and your work with the mighty The Darkness!
I think Reckless is one of the best hard rock albums of the 80s and the last 40 years. One Night Love Affair, Run To You, Heaven, Somebody and 69 are bona fide classics. Keith Scott is an unsung guitar hero. It’s the ultimate driving album. There’s a great Sound On Sound article on the recording of songs from Reckless. It’s a great read. Heat Of The Night from 1987 LP Into the Fire was in an episode of Miami Vice! I’m so sad that The Darkness are playing on my birthday in a town nearby but it’s SOLD OUT!!! Justin please wrangle a ticket for me!!!!
I wasn't crazy about Bryan Adams back in the day until around the early 2000,s when a friend who doesn't drive persuaded me to drive 160 miles in my 72 Bug to see him live firstly with Counting Crows in support and I enjoyed both so much that when Bryan returned approx 5 years later with the amazing Cranberries support I didn't have to be asked twice! He truly rocks, straight from the 💖!
His guitarist Keith Scott has always been one of my favorites. His playing and solos are always so complimentary to the song. Great tone as well. Cheers.
Bryan Adams was my go to through my teen years when it came to making it with the ladies. Be Canadian meant that all the girls loved him and his music. Bryan wrote so many amazing songs and I still listen to him regularly. Thank you, Justin for giving Bryan the credit he so rightly deserves
Thanks Justin! ❤️🤘🏻

He's great, such an unmistakable signature style.
Great tribute!!
Back to you.... what a song!
Reckless is a masterpiece of catchy rock songs .. some great guitar tones throughout with Keith Scott ripping some fabulous lead guitar .. always been one of my favourites.
Oh... and you are so right about the way "Kids wanna rock" drops on to "it's only love", but it works even better on "so far so good" where on it lays the path for 'Heat of the Night"... f'amazing!
One of the few big area concerts I have been to was Bryan Adams - he was amazing!
Its Only Love is one of best rocking duets, imo.
I would never have considered myself an admirer of Bryan Adams, but back when I was a hip youngster, I would always sit down with my guitar and play along whenever his 80's classics came on MTV... That duet with Tina Turner is, jeez - a total tune. Stonking guitar riffs and a solo near all the way through.
oh my Gawd i forgot how many great songs there are on this album!!! wow!!
Bryan has been blessed with great songwriting partners. Jim Vallance and Mutt Lange are two of the best to ever work in the arena rock genre.
The guitar intro is amazing, clever, and funny...That would be the hit of any UA-cam channel, but then he talks, and we're all mesmerized!
I saw him live in 1989, great show!
Bryan adams unplugged is one of the greatest cds of all time
Best album ever.
1984 was a stellar year all around, it produced me
FACTS - brilliant album and it still holds up
I wasn't crazy about Bryan Adams back in the day until around the early 2000,s when a friend who doesn't drive persuaded me to drive 160 miles in my 72 Bug to see him live firstly with Counting Crows in support and I enjoyed both so much that when Bryan returned approx 5 years later with the amazing Cranberries support I didn't have to be asked twice! He truly rocks, straight from the 💖!
So cool to see Bryan get a nod for how awesome Reckless was.
Bryan Adams - Native son is a great tune. 👍 from the Into the fire 🔥 album.
Bryan Adams is 62 and still has a great voice.
Canadian Legend that we gave to the world.
My favorite song from Bryan, I always saw the love for his craft/his guitar as his mistress. Cheers! from Fort Lauderdale. Come back around soon!
His guitarist Keith Scott has always been one of my favorites. His playing and solos are always so complimentary to the song. Great tone as well. Cheers.
TOTALLY AGREE. And that song Somebody! MAN!
Don´t forget "Back to You" one of his best songs ever. Saw him in concert playing the bass all the tracklist
I saw him on the Reckless tour way back. Fantastic. His Bare Bones tour was fantastic too. One of the best voices in rock music.
"The tears go into my ears" well played sir!
Every single song on Reckless is a certified banger. It's as close to a perfect record as it gets. Great stuff.
Me and my wife listened to Reckless over and over when we were dating at age 15. We danced to Heaven at our wedding. Every song takes me back.
Love Bryan Adams 💕 part of the soundtrack of my life. Love you too Justin. You are a blast to listen to, now I need to see you in concert 🎸
I love Here I am. What an absolute gem. Still gets me every time!
"I'm Ready" from the Unplugged album is so beautiful
Summer of 69 is the cats meow. Bryan Adams Rocks. Thanks for doing this video.
