I went to St Bartholomew’s in the 1960. What Miss Mellon could do with a leather strap on the palm of your hands. Beyond painful. It’s amazing that we never told our parents about her nastiness and no school member would challenge her.

Thanks for this series, left coatbridge 50yrs ago. Liz Morgan, my first girlfriend lived on lomond Rd and I used to to go visit my aunt Mary reilly on dudley drive using the bus temimus terminus. I used to have to run around all those streets looking for Joe Hegarty's van of an early evening. Anybody remember Joe? Would love one on espieside if you ever get round to it, born and raised in espieside crescent till I was 4.great work and thanks for the memories.

Hi Peter i remember Joe well, he worked with the Coop before going it alone. he moved to Mount Vernon to live. After leaving the van he opened a shop across from St Pat`s Chapel on St John Street, my mother worked in the shop, hope this helps. I am thinking about doing Espieside and Gartsherrie to finish the trilogy off.
