Gamla stan (The Old Town), until 1980 officially Staden mellan broarna (The Town between the Bridges), is the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Gamla stan consists primarily of the island Stadsholmen. The surrounding islets Riddarholmen, Helgeandsholmen, and Strömsborg are officially part of, but not colloquially included in, Gamla stan. The word "stan" is simply a contraction of the word "staden" ("sta'n"), meaning "the town."The town dates back to the 13th century, and consists of medieval alleyways, cobbled streets, and archaic architecture. North German architecture has had a strong influence in the Old Town's construction.
Gamla stan est la « vieille ville » (traduction littérale du suédois) de Stockholm en Suède. Elle est répartie sur trois îles de Stadsholmen, Riddarholmen et Helgeandsholmen, situées à l'extrémité est de la baie de Riddarfjärden. Ces îles sont reliées entre elles par de nombreux ponts, ce qui permet à Gamla stan d'être également surnommée « la ville entre les ponts »Elle a été fondée au xiiie siècle et est de nos jours formée de rues pavées et de ruelles de style médiéval. Les premiers habitants de la ville étaient d'ascendance allemande, et l'architecture de Gamla stan s'en ressent.
I've never been to stockholm, i only get to see it through amazing videos like this but for some reason i've always felt attached to it, people are usually in love with the most global cities like Paris and London and New york but there's something that makes stockholm so beautiful and unique that i still can't figure out even myself. It seems like a place you could comfortably settle in for years .

If you visit Gamla stan in Stockholm and want something to eat. You should visit "Den gyldene freden". It´s an old restaurant. Has been that since 1722. Or Aifur, the Swedish viking gastronomic restaurant.
Looks fresh and clean.Compare to the dirty London it's like the paradise.
The streets are clean cause they clean them two-three times a week which makes parking fucking torture. Don't go near the water though, the Ganges of the North.
