    Over the last 13 years, Tyson has trained multiple times for full planche. Every time it has ended in failure. At 32 years old he nears the end of his athletic peak, and will train to achieve the skill one last time. This… is his final journey to full planche.

    I wonder if there isn't a point to just practising the straddle planche without assistance for a few weeks to build that time and getting the shoulder and pelvis position really dialled in without the effect of the bands pulling your hips up. I know gymnasts can hold a crappy straddle starting from 8-11 years old and then they perfect it by their teens and then eventually build up to full in their adult years. What I'm pointing out here tho is that straddle planche becomes very easy for them as adults, and I've seen many gymnasts holding it with very little warm up for over 5 seconds in random videos they post while on vacation and stuff. Obviously most of them have huge upper bodies and small legs, but even the slimmer taller guys get crazy strong in that straddle, and it doesn't seem to be such an issue for them to progress over time to the full planche.

      I think child/lifelong gymnasts are poor example or poor equivalent to my (and of the viewers) context (starting as an adult). Straddle has drawbacks as a stepping stone to full planche that I will get into in another video but simply put: Straddle is not specific enough to full planche; lower body engagement is different. I would say the shoulder and pelvis position is getting truly dialed in with the banded full planche and is sub-optimal in the straddle I'm holding. The way I use the bands, I am getting assisted but I am not getting so much help that it is different sensation to full planche (only difference will be intensity).

    Hi Tyson, not sure I'm qualified to give advices. I have a good full planche (8 seconds is my PR) but I'm much shorter so it is easier. It seems to me like you are constantly training very close to 1 rep max (or very short holds). When I trained and still train I tried to stay in 10-15 seconds hold zone, which is for me free straddle, light band full. I found this is best to build strength and capacity in the shoulders.

      Thanks. Yeah it might not look it because I am cutting the clips short, but a lot of the holds are around 10sec (coach ideally wants even longer).

    you gotta grab the parellettes on the back end so they dont lift up. dont grab them in the middle.

    Once you get it, you should definitely add planche to your C.V.

    from the calisthenics standpoint, most advice come from doing PPPU, tuck planche pushups then progressions and also static leans. where you doing planche pushups variations aswell?

    As someone who hasn't trained for planche in any serious capacity, is there any reason you don't just lower the amount of assistance you use during training progressively until it's just gone? Or instead of going for 2 seconds full no assistance, going for 2 seconds full with progressively lower amounts of assistance?

    • @TysonE
      @TysonE  Рік тому +1

      I mean, I am doing that just not as simple as linear progression. Because it is such a high level of strength needed to be built I am focusing on spending more time in the position (longer holds with more assistance). I do reduce the assistance at times but if I do it for too long or too soon (where I am only getting 5 sec holds approx RPE 9) the accumulative fatigue will build up and I will need to deload or risk injury.

    your straddle and light band holds are really solid! If I could give some tips:
    - incorporate more planche attempts and straddles in your session. Bodyweight is very taxing but often the best thing you can do.
    - when you're in the position, push back, thrust back with your shoulders as hard as you can

    • @TysonE

      No, but as I said at the start of this series, recovery was priority. Long rests in between, not working to a high intensity on a consistent basis. I've had golfer's elbow before and that was a bitch, 6+months...

      Agh I got that when I started. I wasn't strong enough in general and I rushed into too many goals. It went away pretty quick when I focused on other stuff.
