    In this video I bring the outdoors indoors and concentrate on making photographs of some conkers and a leaf
    for wall art in my home. But, instead of one lens I used a bunch of lenses to see the different results.
    Ilford FP4 was the film of choice which I pulled to 50 ISO to save my shadow details and make a less
    contrasty print.

    Rog, you are becoming the ‘go to’ channel for analogue photography. Few out there on this platform have the skill and creativity to show your complete workflow, from gear to the snap, from your pop up studio to the darkroom, and a deep dive into your developing and printing. Kudos to mate!

    I just LOVE the Nikkor 85mm 1.8! It is probably the best lens I own (for Nikon F). That's it, that's all I wanted to say! ;-) Keep up the great work!

    Another really good video. I do enjoy the way you present the topic in hand, and even for old hands at photography you can always prompt some interesting thoughts.

    Lovely stuff. Thoroughly enjoyed this and inspired to muck about with some indoor still life in the same manner w/ my FE2 and AIS lenses as you did with a single roll, might even adapt the AIS lenses to my D200 or Z8 for comparison. Thanks again for great content, Cheers ~ Peter

    Gorgeous prints Roger! Thanks for sharing that with us! That Zeiss jumped out at me. Looks like that thing is wildly sharp with really nice micro-contrast. I shot some still live plants last week to finish off a roll before going on my trip but I thought I had 400 speed film loaded and turned out it was 100. Ooops. Oh well I can do those again.

      Ha ha Tim! Sometimes putting the label on the camera can be a good idea! Even though I've made the same mistake

    Our next door neighbour has a horse chestnut tree, its been shedding its conkers for weeks, the resident grey squirrels gets them and runs across our back fence. I finding conker shells in the garden 😂 I picked a few last year in the cul de sac and have got a couple more this year. I'll have to take some pictures too. I have the Nikkor 55mm macro for my FM2.

    Another “Boss” video Roger. I always thought I had a creative imagination where photography was concerned, but I never think of the obvious things to try, especially this time of year. Thanks for the ideas and keep doing your great videos, they’re very inspiring for me in my film journey. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🎞️ love your channel ❤

    Nice pics there, Roger!! Good camera too...got myself a F501 as well😊 Don't have all the swish lenses for it, but I have a few. Want to get some more lenses.

      Cheers Carl. I only used all the lenses for fun. I only ever take out one or two depending on what I'm shooting.

    The Zeiss lens looks to me to be the best but what do I know I can’t afford a Zeiss lens and have never used one. I did learn one thing that the lens matters a lot.

      The Zeiss I can see a massive difference over my canon lenses when I use it on a DSLR for video filming. Very sharp

    Hi can you also scan the negatives with a decent scanner and set up, instead of processing the traditional way?

    This is uncanny… Did the very same shoot myself this week when our conker tree dropped its nuts…. Used my EOS 5
    & Electro 35 then cheated and used my R6 for some digital variation… Nice one 👍

      I often take a digital pic if I've taken time setting something up. Sometimes just to see how it looks. Same as back in the day when a polaroid back was put on the camera as a test 🤞

    What was the paper Roger. It looks tinted and slightly warm on my tv. Lovely prints.

    Wow! Well done. Reminds me of my darkroom from the eighties. Didn’t think all that stuff was still available . The old manual lenses on that camera, does the light meter still give readings, or is that why you went with handheld meter?

    • @ShootFilmLikeaBoss
      @ShootFilmLikeaBoss  9 місяців тому

      The meter still works well but I went with the handheld meter for better accuracy (or at least in my mind) I didn't actually check the internal meter

    Dilute D-23 up to 1+3 to get a "compensation" effect in order to have more shadow detail and a fair amount of HL detail ;)

  • @chesslover8829
    @chesslover8829 9 місяців тому

    Great video! I'm hard of hearing. Could you please repeat the D-23 dilution you used to develop the film? Thanks!
    Okay! This old fart got it! You're using D-23, diluted 1:1.

    • @ShootFilmLikeaBoss
      @ShootFilmLikeaBoss  9 місяців тому +1

      Yes mate. 1:1 on the rotary processor. So 100ml of water and 100ml of D23.
