This video left out two critically important symptoms that distress women enough to go to doctor: intense lower back pain and a new and unwelcome bloated lower abdomen on an otherwise slim woman who eats little and well. Hugely distressing.

@@hotpinkstars325 I can find no explanation online from any reputable medical source to explain this bizarre bloating. Can you believe it? Science still can't explain the 'permanently pregnant' look's origins. I wonder how many people get dragged through YEARS of arrogant, lazy GP's telling them that they have dietary issues instead? Horrible isn't it?

Since 6 months ago, stomach is permanently bloated despite having quite a slim figure, it looks the same in the morning as it does after eating a meal.
On top of this, I’m slowly starting to have more and more cramp issues.
This latest cycle is worrying me because I’ve had stabbing endometriosis-type sudden cramps triggered by any muscle contraction in my pelvis and ovary areas, making it hard to bend down and go to the loo and almost impossible to pass anything :( ive had these on and off for a week & my period is due. Today was the worst since they woke me up & lasted throughout the day. I didn’t try any pain meds though.
However, my periods follow the pattern of two days heavy, 3-4 days normal/light.
I’m not really a person that reacts to pain with nausea.
For reference, I’m 17. Started my period at 13.5. These problems only really started a year ago.
I also can’t put a tampon in until the very end of my period since it causes so much pain, I can’t move.
      I also have painful sex.
I guess I’ll keep track of my symptoms, fingers crossed it’s not endometriosis… also worth noting that my twin sister has really, really heavy periods…
Not sure why I’m typing this comment, but it was therapeutic to get my worries out there. If anyone has any opinions, I’d be interested to hear.

Yes the back pain is severe and makes you feel like crying, along with everything else. Does anyone else get headaches leading up to or during their time? I’ve had well meaning family members suggest I take essential oils and it’s frustrating because it just goes to show how much they don’t understand the severity of the pain

@@shieldoffaith8798 Haha, people's suggestions about pain management are tedious and almost childlike aren't they? ;D I want to pinch my glabella and sigh in frustration. Good luck with the hokey essential oils. In my experience, they can make headaches worse. I wish you well in continuing being graceful and patient with family members who don't fully comprehend what you're dealing with in life. At least you and I have online forums where people DO understand and so are far more likely to offer advice and suggestions that MAY actually be beneficial. I'm so comforted to know I'm not the only one. I find that knowledge alone helps. xo :)

I remembered going to the hospital due to unbearable pain and I was currently on my period. Anyways, I felt like I was not looked into seriously and on the lab results didn't show anything on the ultrasound (I didn't get the transvaginal ultrasound as they didn't request it) and I felt dismissed and poorly treated by two nurses who used their sharp nails to hurt my stomach area even more. It happened years ago, and I still have the medical reports from that day. Not long ago, I discovered I have PCOS given blood work and symptoms. I had to take two transvaginal ultrasound (one showed something and the other one it disappeared). It's possible I could have endometriosis along with PCOS especially given family history.

I always had symptoms of endometriosis, esp being difficult to conceive was the biggest clue. It wasn’t until I had a procedure called Nova Sure (endometrial ablasion) for my “heavy & painful cycles” that they discovered I have stage 4 endometriosis. That was 5yrs ago, now I’m 2mo’s out from having a total hysterectomy. Since diagnosed I also have recurrent ovarian cysts that have put me in the ER many x’s just to manage the pain when they rupture. So hopefully you don’t have it, but it’s likely considering you have PCOS. My sister has that & didn’t think she could get pregnant but now has a 2yr old! Sorry about your bad hospital visit, there are many jaded healthcare providers out there! Keep seeking out different opinions & definitely OBGYNS till you get answers, you know your body the best.

It’s difficult to diagnose. It took me having endometrial ablation before seeing/diagnosing endometriosis & by then it was stage 4 (severe, the worst) and spread allover. It was then scraped away & now 5yrs later has all grown back and I’m going to have to have a total hysterectomy, which is frightening. So hopefully you don’t have it, but you’ll know when you do & sadly there’s no cure for it @ this time :(

I have a genuine question. I’ve had extremely painful periods I would throw up and feel so light headed to the point of passing out and feel pains like I chalked down to gas pain and had times where I felt like I couldn’t stand up or would have to leave class almost once a week to once a month with this pain. Although I was put on both birth control and levothyroxin for hypothyroidism, I still feel that pain not as hard and not as often but it’s still there and my periods are heavier while in the birth control. Do you think I should get tested for endometriosis?

It could just be that you have reoccuring ovarian cysts, or uterine cysts. They’d have been able to see the endo when you had surgery. That’s when mine was diagnosed & already a stage 4 (the worst) but depending on what type of surgery you had, go get your patient file & look into it. During my surgery that was laproscopic, I had colored pictures of snapshots they took & tons of info as to what was seen, and done.

So I suspected that I might have it because I have pretty much every symptom and it also is prevalent in my family. I mentioned this to my gynecologist, and they said that if I did end up having it they would either have me do physical therapy and put me on birth control which I'm already doing or they would do a hysterectomy which "it's not like they don't believe me that I don't want to have kids but... " I'm 34. I've known since I was younger than 18 that I didn't want to have kids and I've never changed my mind. I also have several other health problems that would make it very difficult for me not only to carry a child to term but to take care of a child afterwards. I don't know what to do at this point. There aren't a lot of OBGYNs in my area that are covered by my Medicaid

But they do leave me in a bad mood. I haven’t noticed any breast tenderness either. Once my period arrives they go away (the bad cramps, I mean). And I bleed for about 4-5 days.

Usually results from an injury to pelvic nerves that blows out the valve between the uterus and Fallopian tube so that the menses spill out into your pelvis.
Injured nerves then grow back to cause pain in response to light touch (allodynia). That “touch” is dilating blood vessels in the build-up to your period.
Ectopic endometrium is incidental to these really bad nerves !

Don’t listen to people on the internet telling you that a simple diet change will cure endo, first off. If a diet change stops the pain, it probably was a gastric issue and not endometriosis. I have bowel endo and diet change does not help. It is excruciating.
Doctors used to perform a full hysterectomy for severe endometriosis cases, but now in 2020 a lot of doctors opt to try to laser the tissue off of the surfaces its abnormally growing on before they attempt a more life altering surgery like resectioning or hysterectomy. And to be honest, even though the idea of having your uterus removed is terrifying and heartbreaking, I’ve spoken to two friends who have gone through with the hysterectomy procedure and they said it practically saved their lives. Endo pain is NO joke once it progresses past the first stages. That’s how bad the pain is, that it’s a relief to go through the surgery for some.
