In this film, Marilyn Monroe proved she could handle serious dramatic roles... and this was in 1952 "The Studio" might not have known or cared at all... but we do!❤❤❤ 💓MM💋
They exploited her beauty rather than let her prove she could do dramatic roles.but nobody remembers the men and studio bosses that used her but we all of us the world over remember marilyn .r.i.p beautiful lady
She started out with these dramatic roles. This was a good movie, I thought. But can someone please explain to me the scene where the woman looks up at MM and the little girl and screams? Why does she scream like that? Did she think they were gonna fall or what?! lol
I will send you a copy of the United Arab and I am sure you will be a good fit for the position of your life and your life is the way I see you and miss u too much and I will have a better idea about what you 😊
Wonderful to see Marilyn doing the dramatic work she wanted to do and was capable of doing. I've read how "Don't Bother to Knock" was filmed on the proverbial "shoestring budget" but was a big. Roy Baker the director, quoted in "Marilyn--The Ultimate Book" by Mike Evans said, "One thing was clear to me at the time---I wasn't TOTALLY innocent---I went into the history of Marilyn's adventures up to that time, and she'd actually acted in fifteen pictures. She'd been around, so in many ways it was the last chance saloon her". Sounds like Marilyn needed something to move her up and forward in her career and "Don't Bother to Knock" was it. The author of the book mentions that it was believed in the studio that Marilyn was cast because of her relationship with Joseph Scheck. "Zanuck---who never particularly liked Marilyn---felt that if they were going to make it with her, they would make it on the cheap". Marilyn was thought to be wrong for the part and that Jane Wyman would be better "...or if there's another Jane Wyman; a bit younger, better still..." The director acknowledged that, "Her background fitted, and I think she knew what she was talking about". Natasha Lytess had to be banned from the set and Daryl Zanuck told Marilyn, maybe in writing, "I think you are capable of playing this role without the help of anyone but the director and yourself. You have built up a Svengali and if you are going to progress with your career and become as important talent-wise as you have publicity-wise then you must destroy this Svengali before it destroys you. When I cast you for this role I cast you as an individual". Though Zanuck didn't like Marilyn and, from what I've read over the years, his feeling for her may have been even more than dislike, he gave Marilyn some excellent advice.
I never understood Zanucks absolute hatred for her! I wonder if she reminded him of someone in his past or something. I guess we've all run into those people. People who absolutely hate us from day 1 for seemingly NO reason. 😒😢
I suppose it will remain a mystery why Zanuck was so against Marilyn. Maybe he made some some kind of casting couch advance toward her and she turned him down? Maybe at least part of the reason was because she was not intended by those in charge to be a major star but became one anyway because the public liked her so much and responded to Marilyn on such a great scale. I read in a M.M. biography that someone at Fox, probably Zanuck but I don't recall for sure, said Marilyn was "...a dumb tomato and half crazy". Too Marilyn had the courage to say no to working with second-rate material and to go on strike against the studio. A quote from Marilyn from 1955 is "If I am a star, the people made me a star. No studio, no person, but the people did it".
I really appreciate all the work you put into this for everyone to see. I don't know what i would do without this channel. Thank you. I've also made a tribute for Marilyn, if it could end up here somehow for everyone to see that would be amazing. She will never be forgotten.
Love to hear your voice on your voice on my phone so I will try to call you on Monday on Skype if I can make a trip to the best 👌😉😊😄😀💕for the first favorite of this year and we will see if I have the kids ❤♥😊💜for me and my family and I am not a big fan or something ❤♥💙😊💜I don't want you all the way around and it ❤me to be able to get a good feel for the way I look forward to the hotel
One of my favorite Marilyn movies. She was a good dramatic actress right from the beginning. Too bad that she got pigeonholed in musicals and comedies. She was great all the way around?
There was so much talent, expressiveness, grace and sensitivity in her demeanor but the studios were too blind and cruel to see it. She ended up becoming a caricature of the dumb blonde she never was !
I will be in love of the day ffffff I am going through a hard work and the way I look for you is a little more help and will give you the opportunity and to make ❤
There's this photo of external fire damage around a two story room's window, I am in the foreground on the roof of a two story restaurant. Restaurant owner shot it with his nice camera. We were a hundred yards away, and commented on why it was so noticeable months after the fire I fought there. (It was one night lodging when the turnaround for trolleys was its nearest intersection) town history, long forgot when I saw flames returning to the pull of my finger on an extinguisher good enough for the kitchen possibilities a 100 yards away down stairs
I have a lot to learn and I miss u too too and I will 💪👷you are not going to be a little girl for you as you are not going through the process for a few days now and then we can will more ❤to be able ❤and the world of the United Arab ❤have no doubt that the first thing 💙❤💖was that 💙and I 😅💙❤and the way I look forward for the future of yours is not a good idea for you 💙
She looks like she has a million ideas in her mind all at once
I think she was very sensitiv and in her own her very creativ and open minded ...

It's nice to see Marilyn not all sexed up, she looks so natural and innocent here.💖
She also speaks differently, not using that breathy voice that she put on for her "dumb blonde" roles.
They exploited her beauty rather than let her prove she could do dramatic roles.but nobody remembers the men and studio bosses that used her but we all of us the world over remember marilyn .r.i.p beautiful lady
Denise Evans Never thought about it that way. How true that is! 💕
Oh my god.
When she first walks through the doors. O_O
I agree. Excellent acting and Marilyn never even said a word.
One of her best performances/movie... Sooo under rated!!!!
Hard to pick between this and her sensational performance in The Misfits.

Yes .In this movie Marilyn played as an pchsiotic babysitter and they thought she was throwing her out .
She was trying to coax her out the window
my favorite of her films. 1 reason is cuz of her incredible performance. And 2 is cuz it proved even plain looking shes still stunning
