The sound this organ produces is just incredible. I speak 5 languages, yet have no proper words to describe how I feel listening to this. Small? Lifted up? This triggers so many feelings on so many levels, I come back to this recording every other week. Thanks for uploading!
This was an absolutely incredible performance by miss bish, who being the worshiper, and vessel of God that she is, completely immersed herself in the spirit of the composition!!! The combination of miss bish and this great instrument, was truly a meeting of the Titans!!!!!!!
Thanks soooo much for uploading the Frieburg tapes. I saw that organ in person. The quad effect is so impressive. With Dianne at the console, the experience is truly amazing. Timeless.
Bless you, Ms. Bish! Once again you have redefined the word "outstanding," and it's spelled "Diane Bish, Organist" -- and wonderful person, with intellect of scripture and organ and music and musicology/music history! Cheers to you! marc
Not just a national treasure, but a global one. So under appreciated. Her adeptness and great skill is the wonder of my life. I cannot imagine how anyone can aspire to such hights. Her skill is forever unmatched. I simply adore her.
Diane obviously enjoys playing thus wonderful instrument, & in so doing, brings every note she plays into joy & harmony, as she progresses through her music piece., especially during this particular melody.
Wow! The grandeur of that sound has such impact even through a UA-cam upload of an old video tape recording. I can only imagine what that sounds like in person... And what impact a grand church organ like this must have had on listeners in the old days, when there was no audio recording, or noise pollution, and this was one of your only exposures to music, or even to sound of this volume. It must have inspired feelings of divine communion.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING Ms.Bish still one of the finest organists in 2 centuries.....I miss hearing her on PBS on Sundays, I always enjoyed her commentary on the organs and locations. I have had a chance to visit several of the churches in Germany she has played at.
This does something to my soul!! Sends shivers down my spine..Never get tired of listening to this...Absolutely magnificent...What a fabulous organ and such a beautiful case too. Wow
Lovely! I don't much like talking about technique, but Diane's double notes in each hand are so beautiful to watch, amazing in every way. The organ loft looks like the crow's nest on a pirate ship. Talk about living on the edge!
Nobody can play the organ like Diane Bish. I.hope she gets to see these comments and how much people across the entire world appreciate her immense talent and her huge lifelong commitment. Shaun Caton.

I walked down the aisle to this lovely piece from G.F. Handel, when I got married to my late husband on 12-20-80 at Grace Memorial Chapel on the grounds of Whicta State University. So listening to her play Theme From Water Music brings back sweet and happy memories for me. Thanks for sharing the video.
This gave me goosebumps. Very nice work. I can only imagine the effect in person or in quadraphonic sound, so the listener could distinguish which organ was playing. I think Bach would be proud.
I see you standing before our Almighty God and Lord and you resounding awesome praise and worship before Him. He loves you Dinah with all of His Heart. Continue to give magnificent praise and worship! The organ was Bach’s pulpit!!
Dearest Diane... thank you! Understanding and having a "feel" for the speed and attack (more staccato, and having the acoustics add to your symphony) is a gift few have received. You were blessed with this gift in abundance! And ever so graceful. 🎶🇿🇦
I recently sent this to a friend of mine who is neither into organs or classical music, but even he had to admit that the entire compostion (the way it is played, the notes, organ and sound) are just incredible! Good job Mrs Bish :)
God Almighty has so anointed your gifted hands in performing this awesome masterpiece! I can’t imagine what you will perform before God Almighty in Heaven!!
I will never get bored of this composition. During college I would sit down in the computer lab to work on assignments and just feel brain fried from studying. This song would jump start my creative thinking.
Every time I hear this I hear God’s royalty coming out of the heavens with Jesus, Mary and the Saints and other heavenly courtiers such as the army of God.
Thiss is an absolutely magnificent performance that shines despite being an abysmal VCR recording (the format itself being to blame), then compressed to death by YT. It's almost like a good novel. But instead of pictures in your head, this creates the idea of amazing this must have sounded vor Ort.
Yes, this lady has to be among the best we have ever known in a field seemingly dominated by men, great though many of them are. Perhaps my favorite organ video of all time was a number of years ago when she & her film crew went to Scione (did I spell that right?) Switzerland to record the oldest playable pipe organ in the world. Don't know exactly how much of it is original, having, I'm sure, an extensive amount of work done to it since its 1390 origins & it's a relatively "simple" arrangement, having only a short single keyboard. After all in 1390 one didn't run down to the local hardware store to buy anything. Every single part from the largest pipe to the smallest piece of mechanical hardware had to be custom made, by hand, for its specific application. So, no point making the thing bigger or more complex than absolutely necessary. However the finished product is truly amazing & with whatever limitations it may have is one of the best sounding organs I have ever heard & is superbly showcased by Ms. Bish. Simply awesome!
Hornpipe was an English sailor's dance which was danced aboard ship to the accompaniment of a flute -it was Handel and his patron's tribute to their English adopted country and the English audiences understood the compliment and absolutely loved the piece.
Could you imagine just being on a normal tour of the Cathedral on the day she played this - all the sudden that SOUND. I'd feel like I died and gone to heaven.
Beethoven: Handel was the greatest composer that ever lived. I was in Westminster in May 2016. Of all the famous people in history entombed or remembered in that building only one had fresh flowers on his memorial. G. F. Handel.
In 2006, on my first trip to London, I went to Westminster Abbey and knelt in front of his grave, remembering Beethoven's phrase "I would kneel in front of his grave"
Really? I did not know that Ludwig was an admirer of Händel; I must admit that I fail to hear many (if any) similarities/inspirations in Beethoven's music coming from Händel... The Mozart and Hayden influences are much easier to discern.
This was played as the recessional at my wedding. When I was in college choir, one of our directors was also an organist and played this piece often at the end of our tour concerts. We affectionately called it "The Superman Song". (To be honest, none of us really knew the title but we all loved the energy!)😂
As a longtime piano player I must admit that the organ is the best sounding instrument of all time
THE OLD
😊 Well! The organ is not called the king of instruments for nothing.
Nothing gets me turnt like Handel on pipe organ.
No other instrument could resonate round a massive cathedral like the organ. Diane Bish is magnificent.
That has to be by far my most favorite piece she’s played on the pipe organ!!!!
I share your sentiment. She is one of the Old Legends, of the Pipes.
The sound this organ produces is just incredible. I speak 5 languages, yet have no proper words to describe how I feel listening to this. Small? Lifted up? This triggers so many feelings on so many levels, I come back to this recording every other week. Thanks for uploading!
I have had this piece stuck in my head for YEARS and couldn’t think of the name! Thank the algorithm gods!
She is a treasure, more than a national treasure, a treasure for all humanity.
one of the best organists i've ever heard. in awe
So totally incredible!!!
I honestly don't know who Diane Bish is. but a TV show only about Pipe Organs, and Church Bells sounds beautiful and welcoming.
This was our exit music for our wedding 44 years ago.
Congratulations.
VERY,VERY GOOD CHOICE@@caesarillion
Followed by playing some water music on your wife’s 🦪 for honeymoon 😂
If fills me with Awe how one instrument can glorify the King of the Universe. Thank you for inspiring younger generations with optimism.

Bloody superb. You can tell Bish loves Handel. Her face says it all!
She got to try Organs all over the world. That was great watching her on PBS.
I watched her too, on PBS. That was some time ago!
Indeed. Her playing was seen in Republic of Korea, 25 years ago, the year of 1995.

Handel and Bach, 2 of the big dogs in organ music compositions that ever lived.
@EF I love Beethoven but they sure are the kings of classical music
They were born in the same year in Germany but they never met. Vivaldi was also a contemporary of theirs.
Two of the many great Lutheran composers of the era

Thank you Diane. I remember you from our home study group of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
Splendid!! Ms. Bish is truly the First Lady of the Organ!!! God bless you!!
Bravo! Bravo! Love how the ring on her left hands slips down and under her finger as she blazes away! Superb Dr. Diane Bish.

In fact, he was buried in Westminster Abbey following his death.

Simply awe-inspiring. The organ, the composer and the organist. I wonder whether Handel ever imagined his Water Music sounding so grand.

it's the "allegro maestoso", not the "theme".

then, you must know this is not the "hornpipe" but the "allegro maestoso", eh? why do so many trained musicians "stand by" this obvious mistake?
