I actually found out this version existed when I picked up a vinyl copy at some store. Saw ‘blame it on the boogie’ and ‘Jackson’ and was like “oh yeah! I love the Jacksons”. Was very confused when I got home and this started playing instead. Warmed to it over the years. If the Jacksons version is a straight up disco funk dance floor filler, this is a cheery slice of soul rnb fun. Both fantastic songs
The universe works in mysterious ways. I watched a documentary on C4 about this guy, and if not for that wouldn't have known of his existence. Not really. His label offered the song to the Jackson's without his knowledge. This was back in the day where publishers would trade and offer songs to other artists and publishers at trade shows. On my top of the pops playlist both versions of blame it on the boogie back to back
Can you believe there was a period in time where two versions of Blame It On The Boogie by M. Jackson were in the Top 40 at the same time?!
it was The Jacksons and M. Jackson
They are also called the Jackson as well. As mentioned by Mick Jackson.
I can, My wife just found out.
It’s funny cuz many people say they accidentally bought the wrong album
He wrote it and released, they released their version a week later. Credited to The Jackson’s!
What a beautiful rendition. Very similar rythm to Leo Sayer's "You make me feel like dancing"
this is the original not rendition
Great stuff, the original
