No joke, Bernth's picking tips and hand synchronization course has completely transformed my playing. Changing my pick grip and fretting hand position felt really weird, so I went to the extreme with it. I stopped everything. No playing songs or writing. I only did Bernth's exercises for about a month. My reasoning was that if I went back to playing the songs I know, I would fall into my old habits. I had a practice plan set for three 20 minute blocks, but it ended up being 30 minutes in the morning before work, and between 1-2 hours in the evening. Once I got my hands whipped into shape, I picked new songs to learn, focusing on keeping good technique. Metallica was my bread and butter for that. I learned Of Wolf and Man, Lux Aeterna, Fuel, and currently relearning Master of Puppets. Disposable Heroes is next on my list. I am far better than I was a month ago. I finally broke through the plateau, and I can feel that I have a long way to go before I hit another one. I am excited about the instrument in a way that I haven't been for a long time.
Hi. Congratulations on your progress. I have a question. Did you practice only these exercises shown in this video or did you practice other exercises as well?
I agree. Other exercise videos are nice too, but they can show what skills I need first to start before attempting the main practice... not here where it feels you start from the start. ... it is hard to bridge the gap
Ah, that's my problem. I'm not married to Bernth! 😂I do have the second best thing, which is being a member of his Patreon. Good luck with your shredding, Nata! We need a Bernth / Nata guitar collab.
Glad to see Bernth doing beginner exercises. Its what I try to provide in my channel as I progress forward with my journey. Something that is in fresh mind and the problems I solve, usually I take a notes up to make a video about it. But going back into roots is really great to see here! Keep doing these!
At the pace she is going , we will most likely be seeing collaboration videos with she & Bernth !! I would truly like to see that as well as her progress!! Please keep updating us with her achievements !?
Keeping your fingers close to the strings is something im struggling with. Many years playing improperly has really cost me here with picking speed... glad it was one of the points in the video!
This was awesome and help people like me , I get frustrated cause everything is a little out of my comfort zone as a drummer trying to become a guitarist. More of these please 🙏
I am also a drummer learning guitar.I have also been a bass player for 20 years and the transition to guitar has been very smooth except for the picking techniques.I only played bass with my fingers.Being a drummer really does help when learning guitar,I think.Playing with a pick on guitar strings feels like the same motion playing on hi hats or a ride cymbal. Also string muting techniques make the guitar sound like a percussive instrument.I really enjoy guitar.
Thanks a lot for your lessons! If I may suggest, could you please add finger positioning along with your tabs? Sometimes it is difficult to follow what the correct finger order of the exercise is
OMG she’s so beautiful and sweet, and you’re both very lucky! ❤ I can tell you both respect and adore each other 🥰 🖤🤘 It’s a very great idea to teach her guitar as well! I’ve done this in relationships and it can be very rewarding.
Such a short and simple video but so many great tips. I needed this 15 years ago and I still needed it now because I did not have Bernth as a teacher ( Or husband :D )
I bought a guitar course from Michael Angel Bateo about 2 years ago. Havent even past the first two lessons. He seems like a nice enough guy he just talks a lot about himself and how good he is. Steve Stein is a also terrific but no one out there seems to be actually showing you technique. I liked this vid. Useful tips on not moving your pinky too much etc. The finances are a bit of a problem these days but if I get the cash together in the future I might try one of the courses here. Im sure y'all been. You pay for endless courses in recording, mixing, singing , playing. It's a never ending stream of signing up for courses.
Let’s watch Nata turn into a shredding machine - or at least improve her technique like us mere mortals, lol. 😉😂 Cool video, Bernth. It’ll help people see that nearly anyone can do it with some hard work and persistence!
That is a lovely video. It is so good to go back and think about the basics even for players who are not beginners. I look forward to the next instalment. Thanks for all that you do. David.
I have seen the recent video for the Beginner with your Beautiful student, but is this really suitable for a beginner, i can play all the open chords some scales and barre chords but I cannot do anything like this, and I would like to
Thank you so much could you do a few more like this please .. I actually started out with you videos but they were much to advanced for me so ci put you on hold .. and congrats on getting married last time I seen her you called her you girlfriend

"I'm familiar with all the terms, I watch all your videos." That's unironically super wholesome. 🥰 What supportive relationship! ☺️

As a beginner, this was super helpful! More beginner videos with your wife, please!
Dang way to go Bernth. Lucky guy and great teacher. She is amazing. Good idea 💡 having her in the video.

Came here for the lesson. Stayed for the love and respect. Just beautiful to see.
Seeing her face light up when she gets it correct. Is pure joy ❤😊
Calm down.
@EyesOpen369 agree, and this is why I love so much to teach to my students.
Be very careful when critiquing your wife, it will be brought up again 10 years from now.
Shitty misogynistic joke tbh
That's totally my mom
Awesome, this was so helpful! I’d love to see more beginner videos like this, you’re an excellent teacher.

It's great to have the teacher at home 😄

As someone who plays mostly fingerstyle, this lesson helped me so much with alternate picking!
I like this style of video. If she keeps practising I'd actually like to see a series of seeing her progress using your excerices and coaching.
Keeping your fingers close to the strings is something im struggling with. Many years playing improperly has really cost me here with picking speed... glad it was one of the points in the video!
I wish I had this detailed instruction when I started. It would have saved alot of grief.
its realy clear that Bernth got realy excited when Nata hit the notes currectly, he got insta happy

Thank you for sharing and reaching out to beginners as well as seasoned players
Gonna share this with my son who wants to play. He's 13 and this material will be excellent for him.
Pure gold, very very valuable video for a beginer like me! Thank you!
One of the best on UA-cam, and Patreon! 😎🎼🎸👍
I’m a patreon member as well.
Thanks a lot for your lessons! If I may suggest, could you please add finger positioning along with your tabs? Sometimes it is difficult to follow what the correct finger order of the exercise is

She can become an insane shredder, because she has the best teacher.

Telling your Wife that she is doing something wrong is a bold move.

What the hell, she's gonna surpass him in a year 😜
If only my wife would listen to me, I'd have taught her guitar 🤭
I want to be his "wife",teach me to play a guitar

Male shredsplaining
Useless fact nobody cares about: Nata means "cream" in Portuguese.
You guys have kids? ❤
Österreicher, merkt man am Akzent 😄
Haha, hope she has a $200 guitar for added realisim 😅
That's the Ibanez AZES40 he featured in another video about playing a real show with a cheap guitar. Not $200, but not much more.
