I just purchased that exact welder (before seeing this vid.) Spent more on all the accessories and stock needed for a simple repair than I did for the welder. Was concerned that the machine wouldn't live up to other testimonials, so I'm glad you did in depth testing, and posted your findings. I'll begin the repair tomorrow with less worries. And, now that I have the welder and gear, I guess I have no excuse for not building your 2x72 design... Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the video. I use .035 flux core wire in a Campbell Hausfeld welder and have learned, while it is Smokey and spatters a bit more, flux core welds just fine. I use reverse polarity, remove the gas nozzle and give myself 1/4-1/2 inch lead and I get very nice welds.
Thanks Brian, looks like I have been running my polarity backwards for some time, welds.much better and less spatter now. Thanks for making this video!
Yes!!! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Thanks for the education. Being new to welding this is a good help
Dude. I had no idea this welder existed. Im really tempted to sell my Chicago electric 170 and buy this one. It’s cheap! And seems to work well. Thanks for the video.
- Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Awesome video! I definitely need to practice. I know having a welder doesn’t make me a welder. Lol
For sure. 😂
Great video, Brian! If I was in the market for a new welder I might consider it. I’d really like one that does HF start for tig though.
Definitely. I have a bunch of welding companies wanting to have me test these. I'll see if we can find one like that.
Thank you sir! Love tool videos.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Excellent video. Thank you
Thanks Matt! 🤙🏻🙏🏼🤙🏻🙏🏼🤙🏻
had this welder for a while now and its never let me down , never overheated , even left it out in the rain and was fine after. as for flux core thats what i use a lot and the welder is good for it. but it can also make some really nice normal mig welds just like any other high end welder
I have found the same. For the money it is worth it.
Great video. Thanks.
Thanks my doood
Good information.
Thank you 🙏🏼
My titanium 170 says for flux core to hook the ground lead to positive and the wire feed to the negative yet I still seem to get a decent amount of platter.
Thanks!
Thanks Manny! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Nice video i built my revolution with a flux core welder
Nice 👍 - I am really impressed with this machine.
With mig and flux core wire welding, push your beads instead of pulling, this allows the arc to get down to the work and not just pile up a bead or fill , nice video Brian!!!!
Good advice Gary. Thank you.
Mmmm... not great advice. There's an old saying, "if there's slag, you drag". This applies to both SMAW and FCAW which use flux to shield the weld pool. The flux is what creates the slag deposits on the weld which need to be chipped / brushed off. Dragging helps to prevent the slag from getting ahead of the weld pool which can create inclusions and contaminate the weld which is undesirable. GMAW (MIG) can definitely be pushed or pulled since the shielding gas does not produce any slag, but FCAW should be dragged. In order to ensure proper penetration into the base material, focus on getting the settings dialled in correctly.
@@a.macdonald4313 forget that, try it. It works better.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you John! 🙏🏼
Good morning Brian. 🤘
Morning sir! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
@@HouseMadeUS so... how much are ya selling a used vevor welder for? 😁
Thanks so much. Very well explained and very information video. Very nice. Hopefully you get great use out of it for many years to come my friend. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On.
Keep Making. God bless.
Thank you Jared! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@HouseMadeUS your very welcome sir.
Brian, what is your go to flux core wire?as a novice welder, I’ve had a lot of success with the blue demon .035 in my Lincoln pro-mig 140
I use the Hobart stuff from Northern tool. But...I typically never use flux core. Always solid core with gas. This was fun because it's so easy to setup. I'll try the blue demon next! Cheers!
Great video Brian thanks for sharing
Thank you Jerod!!
What replaces this welder, since it is no longer available. And that makes me wonder about buying inexpensive Vevor stuff that may not have parts down the road.
I'm guessing your running it on 220 in the demos? I think that alone makes a huge difference on weld quality.
I did 1/2 with 110 and the other with 220. For the shorter welds I saw no difference. Pretty impressive.
Good job on the video. Maybe you'll be fortunate enough to get some trolls up in this place to drive this thing to the moon. lol I thought about kicking things off with the BS but just didn't have the energy this morning. hahaha
Edit: I just noticed their MIG270 is only like $30.00 more than their MIG160! That's amazing! That's a lot of welder for the $$$
😂😂😂 one can only hope. I figured I'd get bashed a bit in the comments for something. Fingers crossed! 😆 and yeah for the money this thing is a beast.
Forget the welding shwelding...where can I order the glasses like you're wearing??😅
I get those on Zenni Optical. Cheap too!
Thanks loads...you just made my day!
thank you for supporting Ukraine
Didn't you use to own a PC shop? Did you build, sell, and service PCs? Have you ever heard of "Totally Awesome Computers" and crazy Dell Schanze?
I am looking into a new desktop for the family and want the best deal on good quality I can find. Any suggestions?
I have both a dell and HP and like them both. Back when I owned the shop those were the higher quality machines (consumer based) Dell ships surprisingly fast too.
So... if you practice you will improve? Got it, thx!
Yes exactly. You got it.
I love you, man, but I think you are pushing not pulling, which is totally wrong on FLUX 😢 put some filter so we all can watch what you are doing.
I'll give that a try. Thank you.
Yeah great Vevor, China Trash.
What do you do to get rid of bb's so far nobody can seem to explain
Chisel works great for that.
Get some argon and mig it 💯 better weld. I can make my weld look like a stack of dimes with a mig.
Bro get yourself a long sleeve welding shit. Those welder sun burns suck
