    27 years ago I used to work in a bike shop, now here I am watching bikes being built on the inter web. Back in my day (: we had steel frames with rear drop out screws. I'd have to tap out the threads with a 2mm tap. Woe betide if I snapped off the tap in the drop out. I'd love to do it all again with these new systems.

    i think the most unique thing about bike is you can go crazy with the money yet the machine is still your body and your mind.
    i've seen few local races in my country, and watches those $10K Trek & Pinarello dusted by some $600 bike.
    yes, expensive things are beautiful, but in competitive money doesn't give you that much speed

    For man, death is the great equalizer. For road bikes, it's the tape that fixes the bar tape at the end. The bike's price doesn't matter, the bar tape still gets taped up on the tops.

    • @builtbydylan8315
      @builtbydylan8315 4 роки тому

      kswsquared lmao beautifully stated

    • @ianh9696
      @ianh9696 4 роки тому +5

      That's why when I tape a bar I start at the TOP and end at the BOTTOM and use the supplied bung to keep the tape in.
      I personally have had no problems with my tape coming undone or water penetration.
      I used to work at Raleigh and this was the way back then, many moons ago.
      I can comfortably say I have taped over 30,000 bars this way.
      Before anyone shouts bull sh*t you do the maths.
      Quote for a day was 125 bars taped, that is all we did, someone else built the bars.
      5 days a week.
      52 weeks a year.
      And I was on that job for well over a year.

Never miss a bill payment, Downsize and don’t spend money on anything you don’t absolutely need and focus on really improving your credit and you could finance a bike like this and make monthly payments. Of course, Paying in cash would be ideal, But financing is wonderful if you’re a financially savvy individual and are very smart with your money and spending.

      Benjamin Hoffeins That is definitely something to think about before financing a bike, You’re absolutely right. I financed a 2020 Cannondale SuperSix Evo Ultegra disc recently, And that was in the back of my head while doing so. But I wasn’t able to buy it with 4,000$ cash and O figured I’d risk it. I’m a very aware rider though. Always aware of the terrain and my surroundings, Observing drivers behavior all around me as well as other riders so my odds of totaling the bike, While still there, Are slimmer than for others’. Financing a 15,000$+ bike like this though, You are right, May not be worth it. I’m sure you can get some sort of bike insurance though?

      Cuz expensive bike componies refuse to make factories in china they still do it in there country with higher cost for labor making them more expensive same as why nikes is cheap cuz its made in china.
