"The camera adds ten pounds!" "How many cameras were *on* you exactly?"
ISHKA just 1 big camera
ISHKA haha chandler saying to monica
ISHKA oh friends
well, really it's: 'huh, so how many cameras are actually *on* you?'
ISHKA F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
no wonder, cameras always makes me look hella ugly compared to when i see myself in the mirriors.
Cryptic 90 Are you sure it's the camera 🤔
***** Geez it was a joke
fox_in _xxs_clothes Woaahhhh there buddy
+• ѕleep lord • That reasoning doesn't make sense. Then you also need to perceive pictures of yourself as more attractive.
+Linet Durmusoglu Yeah, I've found out that that was wrong. Sorry.
"Yea, if you wanna get Metric about it" new tshirt design.
*+*
It needs to happen
"Lets get metric about it"
2ossy As an Aussie - I definitely agree! I'm sick of converting back to old school systems.
+Anna Vaughan
Like... Do you mean physical distance? 'Cause I know what the perfect distance for that would be.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
"The camera adds 10lbs"
Then stop eating cameras.
Ba-dum-tish
Finally. A sensible response.
Yeah ,eat mirrors
How do we feel the difference between having to fart and having to poop? And why does it sometimes go "wrong"?
Censtudios 😂🤣😂
What xD Have you never heard of someone who accidentally pooped a little when they wanted to fart? :D Or just start farting super hard when they think they need to poop
Asking the real questions here.
Experience. I've shit my pants enough in my life to instinctively know the difference between shit and a mere fart. I was on these anti-depressant meds for about six months years back and during that time my ass was on a slow-leak of semi-diarrhea.
João Dowsley thanks for sharing.
You know what else adds ten pounds?
A puffy vest.
Then why don't cameras just have two lenses
expensive, complicated and uneccesary
neonlent There are cameras with two lenses, they are called 3D camera or stereoscopic 3D camera.
It wouldn't make a difference on a 2D screen. You would need to see the picture in VR to see the effects of two lenses
Blan Klein it makes a difference on video at least.
Thats a 3d camera.
I wonder if theres anyway they can make a two lens camera that's more "true to life"
It does if you decide to eat a bunch of cameras
But I would bring you back. :-O
Tell that to Michel Lotito. That guy ate an airplane.
I'm convinced that this is true. I've seen photos of very slender people irl look bloated on particular photos. I'm on the leaner side and I can look at photos of me when I was 18 and certain body parts (upper arms) look bulkier than the rest of me. It's usually crazy stuff on selfies now like bloated looking fingers or a wider nose. I believe cameras were meant to do this...
On the flip side of things, there are people who look stunning in their pics, but not so great irl.
I just figured it was like the difference between a globe and a flat map... When you take an object that's rounded and try fitting it to a flattened surface, you're going to get some distortion of the object. It looks wider because you're squishing it out of it's normal shape.
I know cameras aren't exactly "squishing" the image but like it's not showing it in a 3 dimensional image either. I mean a regular camera. I would guess the question doesn't really deal with VRs.
WHEW. WHAT A RELIEF. 😌 NOW I CAN DIE IN PEACE.

Meh, I search for the first one anyways
did you know geico can help you save 15% or more on car insurance in just 15 minutes?
*comment about other comments thinking they help but are just adding to the spam*
Malte Koot insert the same exact comment for the 10th time and think it's not the same kind of spam
*insert comment about how cancer all of those things are*... exept the comments thing
I look the worst on group photos
cuz you are fucking ugly
davvidess no haha
Same
If cameras really do add 10 pounds, then do African kids even exist?
Wah wahhhhhhh
Francis Lappin I'm fucking dead
Na fam I always look like shit in photos. I don't look that great without the camera on either, but a little better lol
That's why meeting People online sucks....
I've heard the thing about the focal length being to blame numerous times and I expected this video to just regurgitate that, but the part about the binocular disparity made a ton of sense and I've never heard that explanation before!
This is amazing !
"It's not the dress that makes you look fat. It's the fat that makes you look fat."
-Al Bundy
There is a mistake at 1:15
Focal length is explained incorrectly. It is the distance from the LENS (where the light starts out parallel and starts to converge) to the point where the "light rays meet" as you put it. This spot necessarily must be ON the sensor. Conversely you can say that the sensor is the SAME distance from the lens as the focal length.
What you describe, the distance between where the "the light rays meet" and the image sensor, should be zero.
I love hearing about these illusions !
Could you please do an episode on cerebral aneurysms? I had one rupture when I was 19 and I would love for people to learn more about them!
I'd really like to see someone do a study with a 3d camera to see if the same subject appears 10 lbs heavier with a 3d image as opposed to a 2d one, just to see which of the many causes given actually have how much of an effect.
video needed a side by side comparison of pictures from all the different cameras you mentioned
I've also noticed that most people (that I've interacted with) tend to be much harsher critics of their own bodies than any stranger would be.
Its not my fault... there's at least seventeen cameras on me!
Thank god for the uploads 🍻
Added bonus fact: You can get a closer equivalent to what the eye sees with your camera if you take your pictures on a 50mm lens. It's one of the reasons street photographers consider it to be the best focal length for street photography.
Technical note, crop factor plays into this a bit for those of you looking to try it out. It's 50mm on a full-frame camera but depending on sensor crop factor that number changes. That gets complicated so... Google that.
bullshit.
I got a crash course ad lol
So basically you just described why the statement "It/they look better in real life!" exists
Zonyae Ambrose Plus cameras don't capture color properly and have to be calibrated afterwards with imperfect results. Compound that with poor color reproduction and relatively low resolution in most monitors and pictures tend to look washed out!
If cameras make you look fat then why are models so skinny?
Master Therion pictures are taken from a distance
Master Therion Photoshop and anorexia.
Hope Starr I think you are right! LOL
because they are skinny. cameras don't make thin people look fat, they make fat people look fatter.
Photoshop.
The problem I have is that I am overweight, but whenever I look in the mirror I actually really like what I see, including my body. I am completely fine with it. But when I see a picture someone took of me at a family party or a group photo I look terrible. It's like my face and cheeks puffed up 10x bigger and so did my gut. I wanted to know which one is the real me, slightly slimmer mirror me, or extremely fat picture me?
Same
Yes, if the camera weighs 10 pounds and you hold it.
the camera adds 10 pounds, but Photoshop removes 15!!!
I'm so fuckin baked rn and man those morphing faces tripped me out
I appreciate the most comment when talking about seeing through two eyes. I wonder if that means I see like a camera does? Maybe that's why I think people look younger in ID photos.
I love how he said "probably" fine. Like theres a slight chance my selfie turned out like crap but meh. Its "probably" fine 😂😂
Damn you Perspective!!!
No, it's the lifesaver vest.
Is it possible for the whole internet to be shut down? if so, are the data still there if we were to get it back online?
I see the world with 4 eyes.
thats it???? where is the solution to the problem????? which vision of us it the real one????how to we take a pic of our face where there is no distortion...what is the optimum solution???
The mirror closely resembles the real one
1:33 Oh! My! God! I used this picture in my research paper about photography like 10 years ago :D internet truly doesnt forget. Geez.
you could resumed this whole 2 minute video into one word : Distortion
"They say the camera adds 10 pounds... looks like you've eaten five cameras."
My local radio station would play this clip sometimes. I don't know what it's from, but its hilarious
Just got a CrashCourse ad. :D
What causes an "itch" and why does it begin to hurt/ tingle if you don't scratch it?
It isn't the focal length of a lens that affects how the scene looks, it's the distance between the camera and the subject. A 20mm lens and a 200mm lens will show the same distortion if you don't move the camera back.
Focal length does not have any effect on distorting features. Distance to subject does.
All focal length does is make an image bigger or smaller in the frame at any given distance-- wide angle lenses appear to stretch out your nose if and only if you're very close to them. Close enough that a longer focal length would not capture enough of your face to actually see the effect that close distance would have on perspective-- unless the image circle projected is large enough to use a larger sensor or film.
Stand far away from a mirror. The perspective distortion from standing too close is now gone, and you've "added 10 pounds" the same way a long-focus lens would have. That's what you look like to the rest of the world. ("Telephoto" just means the lens is designed to be physically shorter than the focal length.)
What are stretch marks and do those creams/lotions really work?
This would be a good one

lol
If a camera doesn't add 10 lbs then sitting here eating an entire bag of chips should do it.
why does the sun make me sneeze?
How do scars form? Do they appear only in the skin?
They appear in eyes too
Guuuyyyssss, my mom says I'm not fat, I'm just big boned!
When I read the title my first thought was who has a camera that weighs ten pounds?
Heck I hadn't even realised cameras made people look fatter XD
Its time for two-eyed cameras
if different species have different ways of seeing things such as access to different parts of the spectrum, how do we know what things "really" look like? or is that a little too philosophical? just something ive been wondering.
Yes it does!
why is he always wearing a vest isn't this shot in CA?
Ok when I see my self in a mirror I look a certain way. When I take a picture using the front camera of my phone I look a certain way but different than when I look in the mirror. But when I take a picture of my self with the back camera of my phone (not a mirror selfie or anything) I look like how I see myself when I just look in the mirror. Anyone know why that is?
the camera doesnt add 10 pounds but college sure does
Well, Michael's 90'S vests certainly add 10 pounds ;)
Finally, mystery is solved. I AM NOT FAT, it was always my shitty camera or UR EYES. lol
Why when I scream it doesn't hurt my ears? But it hurts other people's ears
the sound waves don't go around to the back of your head it bounces back to you from the wall and loses some energy making it sound more quiet than it actually is
Idk if its just me but selfies have made my face look really sharp but when I look in the mirror my face looks almost fat in most mirror at my house, so if the camera doesn't add ten pounds does a mirror in other words add weight to your face/body?
phone camera lens is typically wide angle or ultra wide angle lens, this guy refers to professional camera with not wide angle lens.
My camera used to add ten pounds but then I started weighing myself carrying a lighter camera.
ya so how many camera are on you?
What happens to balloons when you let them go in the sky? Video Request. Please and Thank You.
The camera adds ten pounds... to your face!
Please turn up the heat for the guys.
The lens does not affect the perspective, only the distance from the subject does that. Take a picture of a subject from the same distance with different lens and the perspective will be the same.
It would be cool if cameras had two eyes.
this doesn't make sense to me. I always see my face as longer, and narrower in photos
ohhhh okay... 1:43 the camera "seems" to add ten pounds. This whole time I thought it actually added 10lbs. Thanks!
not me! I have cyclops vision D:
The only time a camera add 10 pounds, is the when the camera weight 10 pounds and you are holding it while standing on a scale
I once saw a guy eating dominos pizza
He said his camera makes him look fatter
I saw his other videos he does look skinny so he definitely is right
QUESTION: how the heck do Biore strips work?
focal length is equal to half of radius
where is the old guy??
And how exactly does it add the ugly smile I always seem to have?
also blubluhbluh anus joke, hahaha, give me likes, curtain.
I never want to get metric about anything
I look like norbit in videos and pictures
no wonder im so ugly in picture
So those models are thinner than we see them, damn
It substracts them for me xD
aliencoin dats not my face hun
What if I don't eat the whole thing?
why is lpb refered as pound
I swear to god I knew there is no way in this world that my face would be so fat in real life.
Guy says, The camera probably adds ten pounds. But that selfie probably came out fine. How's it fine if you're 10+ lbs more?
I've never heard of this saying
Just answering the question before watching the video. I agree with this, my sister is skinny to everyone and anytime I see pictures of her I tell her she looks "fatter" in pictures.
So to fix this... Why not have two lenses?
how dose radioactive affect animal dna genetic code
Yes, but the department store mirror is definitely losing me 10 pounds. Therefore, a photo taken with a camera into a mirror into the department store will be an accurate image.
But then the iPhone 7 plus has two lenses! ;)
cameras have depth of field tho bc of f stop so like ? huh
