I don't mean to sound like a downer or dramatic, but it's genuinely sad seeing someone who puts so much effort into concise, helpful information have such few subscribers. Still, it's not vacuous engagement and your videos absolutely have a marked effect on people's quality of life and knowledge. Thank you.
You are welcome. My focus is not on me or for my ego, but on solving the viewer's problem. I am having fun making the videos and do enjoy helping people. I've read that some of the very popular channels game the system and pay for views & comments. All of the views and comments on the channel are genuine. OMG!! Thank you so much for this! I am a disabled vet but I can do things for myself If I learn how - so thank you for your channel and sharing your knowledge!...hehehe, I rent and live alone, so when things "irk" me, I don't like having to put in a maintenance order or ask a neighbor (males everywhere!) - instead of just helping me, I have to listen to, IMO, why they "know so much more than me and it's not my fault because I'm a woman and women aren't supposed to know stuff like this"... take care my darling! holiday season is coming up on us ...HAVE A SAFE ONE
Just stumbled onto your channel. I can’t even believe the plethora of short concise informative videos now available to me! First time homeowner so thank you so much for making these videos!!
YOU. ARE. BRILLIANT! We just moved into a new apartment and the 3 smaller burners refused to lay flat, even when using a heavy pot or pan. After several exhausting, and expensive, trips to the hardware store for different drip pans I tried your hack of wrapping tin foil around one of the legs and PRESTO! suddenly it no longer wobbled! THANK YOU!!!!! As this was driving me nuts every time I used the stove you have saved my sanity!🥳
i'd like to thank you personally dor showing me how to level my burner.this maybe dumb but i suffer this uneven burner for quite sometime now.this is a life saver for me.
Wow, this was super helpful! Definitely going to follow and use your videos for other things too! You don’t over complicate things like almost all the other videos do!
Thank you so much for this video. I didn’t know those connectors points were flexible. My eyes have been slanted for like two years and it’s totally made me hate cooking and I’m a pretty avid cook. I moved into a new house and I’d never had this problem before. I just fixed it in two minutes. Thank you so much!!!
Your videos are fantastic! I have owned and worked in a Handyman business for several years and I'm learning new skills from your channel! I will be using your channel as a resource for new technicians in the future. Thank you for making this content!!
Wow, that's a huge compliment. I do almost all of my own repairs. I do a lot of research to find good practices and best solutions. I hate to see all of that work wasted. So far, I am having fun making the videos and hearing from people who watch the videos.
Thank. You. So. Much!! I just bought a new stove & both large burners were super wobbly & uneven. I could get it in flat, but then they wouldn’t heat up…the only way they worked was if they wobbled 🤦🏻♀️. I was just about to call for warranty service, but thought I’d check UA-cam just to see if someone had a solution & I came across your video. This worked great….thanks for saving me the embarrassment!!
Find the model number on the stove, look up the part number and check eBay. I recommend OEM parts. Be careful, there are a lot of sellers that imply it's an OEM part, but it's not.
Super helpful, thanks! I never thought of using the level inside the oven. Great idea. Have you levelled a wash machine and dryer? I was having fun yesterday doing that in my old bsmt with the terribly uneven concrete floor. Side by side top load washer and front load dryer. That was fun 😖
this looks very similar to my stove. But I can't figure out what year it was made.. Also, the oven knob still lights up when it turns to warm, which I believe is off?
All four of the coils on my electric stove or warped like you demonstrated, when you place them upside down they rock back and forth. Is the only solution buying new ones?
Not that I know of. If it's a good quality older stove, it is worth replacing them. The new appliance don't last long. It's best to get OEM parts. Look up the part number for them, then shop around. I sometimes find OEM parts on eBay at a reasonable price.
Open the oven door, get the model number off of the plate. Go to one of the online appliance parts stores. Get the part number for the new coil. Buy genuine GE Calrod coils. A lot of the parts stores will try to sell you an after market part.. they are very tricky. Make sure it is a genuine ge part. I usually look up the part number on eBay. and buy it there. They should show you a picture of the item in a blue/white plastic bag. I think I paid around $40-55 shipping included. I sort of think there is something weird about looking up the model of the stove. Maybe you omit the "J"? If you can't get the part numbers, get back to me with the model number off of the stove. If it's the same as mine, I check my notes. I'm pretty sure I have the part number for both size coils. Subscribe, like watch some videos on the channel... no one else will bother to help you as I just did.
If you have a cooker with coil elements, throw it away and get a sealed unit that has flat sealed plates. No more having to adjust, file, bang and swear! Just level the cooker and everything is done. Voilà
The range in the video has been in service since 1989. I have several friends who bought new ranges and guess what? One never worked right from the factory. Another broke after a few uses. They had to wait weeks for a part. The repair guy told her, buy a hotplate until we get the part. If you want to swear buy a new stove.
The only way I know is to remove the burners, trim rings and pans, then try to clean underneath. I have a video that shows how to remove the burners. ua-cam.com/video/bwNClydVJ6I/v-deo.html
What if mine is super wobbly? Like the left and right legs don’t touch the sides. I also don’t have a silver ring around each burner, is that the problem?
Maybe the rings are missing? Somewhere on the stove there is a tag with the model number. Don't forget to open the oven and look around there. After you have the model number, go to one of the online appliance parts sellers. Search for the burners and look at the parts diagram to confirm that the stove did have rings around the burners.
I've had many "careers" and am a life time student. I love to learn new things, wonder how things work and like to solve problems. It's fun to share solutions with other people.
Unless you can take the bottom drawer out and reach the feet, then you'll have to slide it out, guess at the adjustment, put it back in place, check. Repeat until it's level. I keep super sliders on the feet of my stove. It makes it easy to slide back & forth and doesn't damage the floor.

Pans were literally sliding off burners.. lmao!!! I never thought of bending the electrodes. Thanks

Very helpful video, thanks alot.

Hey there my burner is to hot and does not go down in temperature. Do you have a video to fix that problem, thank you.
It's probably the infinite switch, that's the switch behind the control knob. They often stick. I don't have a video that shows how to replace it.
If you have a cooker with coil elements, throw it away and get a sealed unit that has flat sealed plates. No more having to adjust, file, bang and swear! Just level the cooker and everything is done. Voilà

I hope you didn't get a lemon.
No I got a cooker😂
Well, maybe your cookers in the UK aren't rubbish.
Awesome! Thank you!
You're welcome!
In the case of my stove, the stove top got warped. Would your trick help my unleveled burners case?
Without seeing the situation, I might give you bad advice. You could give it a try.
Thanks. I never even thought of leveling the oven. Duh.
You are welcome.
Thank you!

I have this stove, I need to clean the area under the burners but the top part doesn't just lift up like other stoves I've had. Can you help please?
The only way I know is to remove the burners, trim rings and pans, then try to clean underneath. I have a video that shows how to remove the burners. ua-cam.com/video/bwNClydVJ6I/v-deo.html

@@Know-How-Now thanks for the reply very interesting!
I need to replace what you are calling a "leg". Not having any luck
You never have uneven bottoms on cast iron pans plus they are heavy and weight the burner down.
❤
Back at you!
Can you come and do mines
electric stoves are the devil
Oh that's too much to do 😢
Well then your eggs are going to run to one side of the pan. lol.
Again ,how do you level the back feet in an enclosed space? No one has a clue!!!
Unless you can take the bottom drawer out and reach the feet, then you'll have to slide it out, guess at the adjustment, put it back in place, check. Repeat until it's level. I keep super sliders on the feet of my stove. It makes it easy to slide back & forth and doesn't damage the floor.
How to replace burners is more accurate than how to level them

Ummm you can't figure out if your burner is not warped that you can bend the electrodes and file the legs on an existing one?
Just make a shim out of folded up aluminum foil and place it between the base which the burner coil sits on and burner coil.
Yep, I mentioned that in the video.
Thanks for this!
