@Alden there never were any official plans for a HSR line north of Sacramento. It is certainly possible that they are harvesting trees that were expected to survive. They started doing that after the Valley Fire 2015 until residents complained. They stopped. How ever, it’s been 3 1/2yrs since the Valley Fire and this winter they had hundreds of trees fall....trees that should have been cut down. A couple of trees smashed through recently rebuilt homes. Paradise will be rebuilt, though it will never be the same.
My heart breaks for these folks! I have been burnt bad twice in my life. once when I was a two years old, I fell against a red hot pot bellied stove. My uncle grabbed me before my face hit the stove. that was in 62. in 07 I was in an explosion and blown 20 feet. I was burnt bad up and down both legs. I am in agony thinking of all those poor folks that burnt up in the fire! God Bless them and all the familys affected by this horror.
Gosh, that is a lot. We have something in common. When I was two I crawled under the ironing board and the iron fell on my calf. I screamed but my mom didn't come right away because " I was always crying about something," she says. The iron sat there awhile burning into me. I never really think of that anymore but perhaps you just helped me connect something. I am very concerned for these people in Paradise, as well. My town, Santa Barbara, burns every couple of years. Hope to keep surviving all this.
I have shot several areas from the air that I have not posted in a couple of weeks I should have most of those posted before returning to Paradise for the Christmas , the aerial footage of Paradise I have shot shows some areas where the tress were destroyed by the fire crowning out, the majority of the other trees that will soon have to be removed will die because of the radiant heat, there are many areas of in my videos of green standing trees that for the time being look healthy from the air. It is important that the dead trees be removed ASAP so hopefully prevent bark beetles and other critters that may move into the area and start to kill the healthy live conifers.So sad this fire happened ,my heart aches each time I visit the area and tears come to my eyes when talking or hearing about the great loss people have suffered.

To know this is an intentional fire, we only need to look at the simple fact that the only thing burned and destroyed are homes. The fires burned right through the trees without even so much as catching them on fire, while it devastated every property within sight. You don't think there's something wrong with this scenario?

Right about the pools of water , same happened during the Tubbs fire . I have designed a plan on how you can retrofit an existing pool that under certain conditions will give you a water source to help keep a fire from burning up your home and also give you a safe underwater place to go if all hell breaks loose and you get trapped in a firestorm. Yes, it would costly, but some of the large homes that burned down in the Sonoma, Napa, Redding and Paradise fires were owned by folks that for sure had the means to put in a fire protection pool system, the retrofit would cost maybe about the same as an in door sprinkler system.
