Great video. From my experience, when I see most people practice, they will never practice 1) very tight lies, 2) heavy lies, 3) heavy lies that are into the grain, 4) balls that are sitting down in holes. There is no better way to improve your short game confidence, than tight lies, heavy lies, and finally, semi-stand on a ball and learn how to get it out of there with a toe-down Ray Floyd technique. Practice hard shots - you will get better.
Great demonstration. Thanx. I am thinking perhaps I try to hit too hard out of bunkers. I have substituted a 60° wedge for my sand wedge and am loving it.
Another excellent video Neil, well done. How we all wish we played at golf clubs with this type of practice facility. How many times do we go to clubs that have a notice next to the putting green saying 'no chipping to the putting green'. This is totally understandable because many of us fail to help the ground staff by not repairing areas we've just used. It's great when a club is willing to spend a little bit of money to create a good quality chipping surface in the corner of the practice facility, close to the first tee where this type of skill can be developed. A long thin green with 2 or 3 reasonably maintained bunkers and areas of rough and thicker grass to practice from and members who help maintain the quality of the facility. On that note a video on playing short shots to the green from difficult lies would be really helpful. How many amateur players go for a lesson on playing that kind of shot and appreciating the effect of thick grass on the club face?
Excellent tips. It's always useful to get new ideas.
