Came here after easy french. This is very motivating. I started learning french 4 years ago and I can say that I'm getting somewhere but every once in a while I feel like we need videos like to these to keep us going. Thanks.
I love your video - inspirational! I went to France for 6 weeks when I was 10 years old and was able to speak a little bit by the time we left, but then I didn't speak again until high school - and really just got the basics. Since that time, I've tried several times without success (Alliance Française) but then during the Pandemic, I decided now is the time. So I've been taking French for 2 years - private classes and group and am getting better and better. I am often embarrassed, say the wrong thing and get stuck but I decided it doesn't matter. This is something I am going to work on little bit by little bit for the rest of my life! Oh, and did I mention I'm 60 years old? Hard to learn now but not impossible.
Hey, just wanted to say: I'm an Indian living in Norway, and I have a french oral exam to give in a month. I studied French properly in school for 2 years, and this last year I'm doing self-studying, and watching your video just makes me so much more confident!!I will be trying harder than ever after watching your videos so thanks!!
Hey Aditi! Look up question papers or ask your teachers/seniors for the questions asked previously in these exams. I have an impression that exams are easier to prepare for because there's a set syllabus. Get your hands on the questions and practice answering them to a mirror. Good luck!
I have just started learning french for the past 6 months and I would say I am able to understand 40-50% of what they speak here in Rouen. But the first easy french video i ever saw was the one with you in it. I was so intrigued to see that someone from India is able to speak this language so well, but now i see that you have put in your efforts(huge ones). Thanks for inspiring. I will take your steps and get better. keep up the good work of motivating "normal people" like us.
This video was something I was really looking forward after watching your collab with Easy french.. Great Work Man.. Keep Inspiring with your journey :)
Hey Josh! Thank you for the inspiring video. I did the same thing for english and moved to the states and when I felt I am really fluent in english with proper local accents and what not, I quit my job and moved to montreal to learn french. Although I know it's not the same french, however, my next goal is to move to France as a next step to continue my journey to become fluent in french. Your struggle and story gave me a realistic idea and the needed push. Appreciate it.
Hey Josh, how did you find to work in farm? Iam looking for similar kind of thing to move away from the busy life and improve French by living with locals
I’m more interested in the 3 months in the farm man! I’m just another curious kid like you who wants to come france exactly to learn french and live french. My god you just pump out positivity man! Hope ill meet you someday in a queue for printing papers. Keep creating man!
Thank you so much for sharing this,Josh. It has given me a lot of confidence that I can definitely progress and acquire French. The great revelation was that I'm focusing only on French and missing out on so many other things in life which is kind of leading to a frustrated state. But this video has precisely pointed out my mistake. Thank you so much again 🙏
Glad I could help Viji! wish you the best with your French. You're already fluent! one of our most active and dedicated members at FrenchMesh! So glad to have you on board :) You motivate me to do this too!
Josh, like many others I found your channel through easy French! I currently speak three languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese. French will be my fourth God willing (I just started in May 2024) I just want to thank you for sharing your story, it's very valuable to many of us that love learning new languages. Just watched your video and and was motivated to keep working hard on my french. I am struggling right and yes I would like to know if there is a site where one could have a conversation in French. I have seen websites but are too expensive for me. Thank a lot.

Will plan it out this weekend :) In the meanwhile, you can check out on google, there are many websites that help you find farmstays. I'll talk about my favourites in a video soon ;) Good luck with your journey!

Hi Arun! Nice to have you on my channel :) good luck with your learning at Alliance française ! There are many websites where you can make pen pals. Check out interpals.net. would a video about my experiences on this site be useful to you?
@@JoshuaBalata this is the first time i commented on UA-cam and also got a reply. Thank you . i got some language partners through conversation exchange. I just have normal conversation without any goal as such, feel nice. But do you think when making conversations it is necessary to have goals?
@@arunnarayanan8015 Whatever floats your boat my friend! If you're having casual french conversations, that's already way better than doing no French, but I would catalog my French into small families of things I can do like: 1. Introduce myself, profession etc 2. Talk about my day so far 3. Talk about my past week 4. Talk about my week ahead When your buddy does the same, you get elements like TV shows, music, big political news and so on that enrich your language and cultural knowledge. Just doing that with each friend (make like 20 friends) every week is a game changer. Good luck! Hope this helps too :)
Focus on the basics. Introduce yourself without mistakes, talk about your dreams and passion, slowly but surely you'll hack into french conversation. Good luck!
Hey Richa! Learning a new language is super frustrating, focus on a few things- Introducing yourself without making mistakes, Talking about your past week, Expressing your goals in life, Talking about your hobbies. Once you nail these few topics without making any mistakes, you'll see that you have most of the words you need for general conversation. Then it's just a question of keeping at it, consuming more content and talking to more people. You can do it! Good luck :)
Everything helps. Just make sure you keep doing it. If you're a beginner (like my level of Dutch) movies and music may overwhelm you, although you can start with tv shows for kids. Read a couple of blogs that break down self introductions in French. Once you have that down and a few other topics, study a classic song and understand the lyrics with an online guide. Bottom line is- make sure you're consuming good content(listening and reading) and practice production (speaking and writing). As to what content to pick- do what you enjoy. I made a video about what media works for me, that should help you get started, else observe what you do in English, what you consumed watching in English as a beginner. Before trying the complex scary ones, secure the basics. Sticking to what you may enjoy ensures you keep doing it. Having said that, I got so focused on picking french words that I watched a lot of Dora the explorer in French 😂 to each their own!
It will happen. How many kids do you know that dont speak their own language? Language learning is something everyone can do if they do it right and they spend the time. Subscribe for ideas and motivation :) Hit a like on the video if it drove you value See you around Richa :)
@@JoshuaBalata Yes, I am at A1 level at AF... long journey ahead. 🚶🏽♀️ I did 5 yrs of French in school and college, but it was a big joke. Focus was grammar and lessons completion rather than oral or listening skills. I literally know nothing, can't understand a word of French. I still don't know how to grasp. As you mentioned, it is important to interact with native speakers while you are learning which seems to be difficult for most of us here in India. All can't travel to France. I think we will have to watch movies and listen to French songs 😄
You're right, immersion does help. I'd like to share my experience in Amsterdam. I spent 6 months there for an internship and had plenty of time in the evenings and the weekends and didn't end up with any Dutch. I tried really hard but it was difficult a. Because my level was too low to be helped b. I felt so uncomfortable, I quit trying. My french was pretty decent when I moved to France, you can see it in this video's graph. You need that before you make the move. Else your experience with the language will be sour. Best place to work on your french is where you are and moving to France could be a bad move when you're not ready. Good luck!
Bro i am not able to learn French at all. I am not able to learn not even single sentence. It's vocab and accent is so hard and it has no similarly with English

Now, I know where I have seen you, this whole time I thought this face is familiar.
Where had you seen me !?
💚💚
I want to speak French as you speak... Please please help me🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Hey Richa! Learning a new language is super frustrating, focus on a few things-
Introducing yourself without making mistakes,
Talking about your past week,
Expressing your goals in life,
Talking about your hobbies.
Once you nail these few topics without making any mistakes, you'll see that you have most of the words you need for general conversation. Then it's just a question of keeping at it, consuming more content and talking to more people. You can do it!
Good luck :)
@@JoshuaBalatawhat helps the most movies music or self writing.. And thank you so much for reply it means alot..
@@JoshuaBalata 😂😂 that's cool.. Your French is just awesome.. I wish some day I'll speak French like you do
It will happen. How many kids do you know that dont speak their own language? Language learning is something everyone can do if they do it right and they spend the time.

Could you please tell me the UA-cam channel you used to watch at the beginning?
Hello! A lot of "petit ours brun" and Easy French. Back then it was with a different host, but it was still the same principle.
@@JoshuaBalata tq so much for responding I have been learning French from last 6 months.
the pre u time were u here or in india?
You spoke so well in Easy French videos.. amazing fluency !!
Thank you! 😃 Are you learning French too?
@@JoshuaBalata Yes, I am at A1 level at AF... long journey ahead. 🚶🏽♀️
I did 5 yrs of French in school and college, but it was a big joke.
Good luck!
@@JoshuaBalata Merci for sharing your thoughts and experiences learning !
how can you speak French so well?
A Lot of practice with friends and media. That's the short answer, but I've made videos on specific topics for the long form answers. Welcome aboard !
@@JoshuaBalata thanks for reply. I hope that i can learn from you more.
