These whiskeys don’t seem like they’re suited to being a replacement for the main spirit in a drink. They’re usually heavily sweetened, which isn’t the case for normal whisky, and much lower proof. When it comes to any drink variation (using a flavored liquor or additional mixer) I generally leave out the simple syrup to start. I figure you can always reintroduce it, but you can't take it out, and most of these always lean too sweet with their full measure.

I feel like a few of these could make their way to the local mid-priced bistro's cocktail menu. You know, the kind of place that offers an old fashioned but they use an ounce of simple syrup because people want incredibly sugary drinks.

Hey all, great channel. I been taking it easy but tonight my mom is getting near the end. no more hospitals she's home here with us now where she belongs. but to the lighter point I went out to grab something to feel good with. I came home with a 1/5th of Carolans Salted Caramel Creme and my very first 1/5th of Plantation. EPIC. a bit of the creme on rocks with a splash of that sugar.. it's helping. and that's one of it's purposes. we're lucky to have such things to enjoy. cherish every sip of life. I'll call the drink "Cilla's Send-off". awesome channel & group.

I don’t know if alcohol suggestions exist on this channel, but I figured that I’d throw Balcones whiskey into the mix. Their “baby blue” whiskey is their main item, but I am a big fan of their bourbon. It has a pleasant apple nose with a creamy pecan taste. I know that they ship it across the country, but I’d even be willing to send a bottle myself to the channel for them to use.

at my bar, our liquor rep gave us some beach coconut whiskey and some cinnamon whiskey and we were tasked to come up with drinks for them. the beach coconut makes an excellent sour with pineapple. the equal amount of acids and sweetness from the pineapple but still sorta tasting like a whiskey sour is a WILD taste and it is certainly a nice refreshing summer whiskey cocktail

I have to say that the longer I watch this episode the more I want the format to change a bit, I really like the idea of Greg just spinning the wheel three or four times, picking a corresponding number of cocktails from the skull, and then matching them to make what he thinks would be the best pairings. Maybe just so he'll hurt himself less, but I also think that it sounds like a better show.

I like flavored whiskeys and trying to make different drinks with then. My favorite so far is a “old fashioned peanut butter cup”. I use peanut butter whiskey, cocoa bitters, instead of simple syrup i use a dark chocolate liqueur, and ice. It’s a dessert drink for sure.

Needs a part two with the rest of the flavored whiskeys. And there needs to a quest to find the best classic cocktails to use the ones already used. Plus if these are already sweetened, cut back on any syrup being added to balance them. You really won't lose the essence of the cocktail if you dial that back down if you're already using a sweetened main spirit.
