Having watched the show twice now, I truly believe it deserves much more attention then it has seemingly gotten so far. There is genuine heart and soul here, yet that didn't become an excuse from it being any less cool and impressive in the execution and technical side of things.
While I hope new viewers can watch the show as I did and simply jump into it with little to no prior information (for that maximum surprise factor) but I will be immensely thankful if this video can help convince anyone still sitting on the fence about it .

Chicago Typewriter sets my standard so high when it comes to kdrama. the hardest part after watching this is that I don't know what to watch anymore it feels like no other kdrama can suprass how this drama works. it just so magical enough for me to stop watching others because the feels is so hard to forget.

This song makes me feel nostalgic for some reason. It fills me with emptiness, like I've lost something I used to love and it's so strange cause the story is also is about that. The singer's notes really hits me.

I am confident in saying that Yoo Ah In is that Korean actor whose filmography has no holes. Each project of his is brilliant, not only for his superb acting but for the production in general. His ability to choose a project that is not only beautifully written but is also compelling and has great societal impact makes his portfolio far greater than any of his co-A listers today.
So, just a tip, if you want to watch something magnificent, choose any Yoo Ah In film or drama and you’re surely in for a treat.
When I first watched this drama I thought it was super famous but it turned out to be super underrated...

Their stylist did well. They all fit well in the 30s costume. Especially yoo ah in. He's sexy and handsome af. And chicago typewriter itself is soooooooooooo underrated kdrama
Can someone teach me how to move on from this wonderful kdrama?? I am speechless because this was perfectly written, it does not any plot holes. I just love how the twists unfold every episode. So, you should not miss this drama out!!!! Definitely worth your time!!!

The problem is-after watching Chicago Typewriter,I don't like watching any other cliché KDrama anymore. This drama raised the bar really high.
This OST really hits in the feels.
Edit: A lot of ppl in the replies are recommending Mr.Sunshine. I'd say from how much I've seen they got, like the best actors from the KDrama industry in it but the storyline is too detailed too complicated for me to keep up with.

Listening to this song felt like you're missing someone you haven't met or grieving for someone you don't even know. its hard to explain. This is such a nostalgic and magical song. It somehow flashes back all memories and emotions I have and felt for this drama as the song plays.
It's 2023, and Chicago Typewriter is still on top of my favorite kdrama list

I just completed this drama and I need to write a review somewhere.
When I first started watching I didn't like where the story was going and how it was involving all the past events and affecting the mood of the characters in the present. I even wanted to stop watching it. But I kept going cuz I wanted to know what happened to the ghost lol. I DO NOT regret watching it till the end. The story unfolds so beautifully, it made sense for them to know about their past in order to move on live in the present. The love story was mature and realistic. I'm so glad it was not an immature love triangle between the three of them and how it didn't affect their friendship. Also the last scene was so touching I'm glad that shin yul went in the novel to relieve his life with his friends. He was a puppy who deserved all the love and cookies.
Secondly, the cast was awesome. Yoo ah in. That guy was no joke. I literally fell in love with him after watching six flying dragons. His expressions, the way he delivers his dialogues just pulls me in.
Third, the character development was so good. All three of them. You can just see how much their personalities improve after a certain period of time.
Fourth. The ost was made in heaven. If the songs were not there I don't think I would have cried much xD
Fifth. I don't know anything about directing and production but the cinematography was gorgeous💜
Lastly I never wrote such a long review of a drama ever on youtube that I know no one's gonna read xD

For those who still didn't watch this drama I'm telling you, you are missing a masterpiece. The actors gave justice to the characters, the scenes and ofcourse the OSTs. This drama will make you feel like you are in a roller coaster ride. Top tier drama yet underrated, this deserves the hype also. It is different from kdrama clichè. If you are fond of second leads, the second lead is good here too. And for those who want to learn K history or simply history, this is a must watch. Just watch the series.
I’ve watched lots of kdramas and I can say they’re all good BUT this is the One that really move me.. the story of friendship and love transcends time and space! As if the universe listened to their longing and wishes for being together again in another life and it happened! Really touching and inspiring story.. 👍❤️🥰
their story of 1930's, Friendship, Chemistry, Hardships and misteries is just amazing. Their past life just touchs my heart, With their Ost's, acting, misery, Story the drama is just Incredible.

Someone please recommend me dramas in 1930 to 1970 setting like this one and Inspiring generation. Not Joseon setting with traditional clothes. I just love the classic vibe. That era had so much style.
@@dominicsimonacfan541 Have you watched The Hymn Of Death?, it's set in the 1920's but has the same fashion as 1930's. It's only 3 episodes long. Also the 2020 drama 'To All The Guys Who Loved Me' has flashbacks from past lives set in those times

@@rosii_jjk2258 i’m sorry but i’m referring to tv ratings in korea. chicago typewriter only had 2.6% while the world of the married couple, which is now the highest-rated kdrama of all time, had 18.829%. not sure where u got that number but koreans DID NOT rate the drama high nor is it popular there.

This drama is so underrated. This is not your typical love story. This is a story of an unconditional love, friendship and sacrifices. The feeling it leaves you after watching is just... I cried a lot.

Mr. Sunshine is a must if you liked this one. It's set somewhere between 1890-1920, the plot is very captivating, the cinematography is amazing, the costumes are gorgeous, the actors are first-class and is a very good combination of history, romance, drama and a little bit of politics. And I think you can find it on Netflix.

tvn is producing gold i was in a kdrama slump after angel's last mission: love because i cried my eyes out on that kdrama but this one raised my standards so high. it has slow plot but it was delivered perfectly everything about it is like a dream and its just so beautiful. im still stuck with other kdramas its refreshing to watch a kdrama continously just like what i did in this one.
Hi. I dont know anyone I can talk to about how heartbroken i am right now. I just finished watching this drama a few days ago. The ending was really good. I have no problem in the ending unlike some great dramas that ive watched. there are dramas that are great in every episode but the ending wasnt really satisfying, so i was worried that this drama would be like that since it also has a lot of questions to be answered. But fortunately, the ending was really great!
That is why im confused with myself. Despite the good ending, my heart was still left aching. Maybe bc of how their past lives ended. It was just so tragic that whenever I listen to this song, my heart always break. This ost is my favorite, and I would love to listen over and over again, but I know that my heart wont be able to handle the pain. Im still hurt though im trying to comfort myself with the fact that they had their second chances and their wishes were fulfilled in their present life.
Me too. I finished the drama days ago and until know my heart aches. The plot, characters, the story, the flash back, the guns, the watch clock. Everything in past is so fascinating thought that my heart breaks into piece. I jus cant move on. Satellite has been my top 1 OST after watching this drama. Yoo Ah In, such a brilliant actor. I watched most of his drama and movies because I couldnt move on from Chicago Typewriter.

I have watched this 3 times and i always have to skip the part where he’d rather die than be taken alive. But the dialogue there was so heart rending too and also the character of Ah In looking at his girl imprinting it to his future reincarnated self.
I agree it was a good ending unlike 5/10 of kdramas that alaways seemed to have awkward /unreal endings. The writers of this drama are also good. Kudos to them

Everytime I hear this song I cry. This was such an awesome drama. How their past and present lives connected to tell the whole story. Their past lives were just so tragic. I have watched so many times and it always stays fresh.

I just watched this drama few days ago and I can't believe I'm missing out of my life, I love how the story unfolds the past was connected to the present. It gives so much respect to heroes who fought to claim the liberty of their nation under the colonialism. It broke my heart when Shin Yul wasn't able to reincarnated into present time it's because he did the biggest sin for his own nation and I certainly believe that people who sacrificed their lives in their past will have a good life in their next life. I really love this drama so much and it gives me so much love and respect for history and appreciation for books also.

Not a crowd favorite, but for someone who can appreciate good screenwriting and an atypical combination of concepts such as love, friendship, history, and ghosts, this is truly worth the watch.
It is only my second time watching the series kahit pa I consider it the best (the first was in 2017). It broke me so much that I needed mental preparations before I rewatched it.
I ended up watching chicago typewriter 2 years after it was released. Let me tell you- it's NOT to be slept upon. Its been a hot sec since I've been so hooked to the storyline. I think the periodic side of the drama was done tremendously well and wouldn't even mind seeeing a spin off of the trios stories, call it 'The Tajagi's Stories'. I'm not crying you are.
I can feel my gut wretching in pain and sadness especially after watching the drama. This song is so touching and powerful. Probably one of the best romance that crosses the boundries of time and fate.

I just want to thank every coincidence that came between this drama and me. And how sad it could have been to never have seen it. It’s simply a masterpiece. It has become my favorite drama and I don't think anyone can beat it, it's just magnificent. I lament and breaks my heart to know that there are people out there who have missed it. And I thank my youth, my pair of eyes and everyone who taught me to have an open mind and see beyond myself around, beyond my borders and the west for taking me to "Chicago Typewriter".

I don't know why I only watched this now. This is such a masterpiece and one of the best kdramas I've watched.
April 2019 and I still think this is the best drama. I hope Yoo Ah In makes a comeback soon.

This drama got everything from fantasy, drama, romance, comedy, mystery, thrill, fight scenes, heartwarming scenes, historical plus awesome actors! I feel sorry for myself having discover this just a week ago.😞 This deserves recognition. The storyline is very interesting. Every episode has something to offer like a surprise. I love this so much that it's now my top favorite kdrama. Hoping that a lot of people will discover this too. Now I'm a fan of Yoo Ah In. Superb acting! ❤️😍
I knew this drama for long time but i didn't watched it..now finally I decided to watch ...it's a masterpiece ... I can't move on from this drama..
Whenever I hear this song I just recall the whole drama...every feeling I had by watching Chicago Typewriter...really It's a must watch drama...so so underrated... best of kdramas
I completed this while its running on-air in 2017 and I am proud of It...

Before Goblin used to be my favourite k-drama but right now I'm totally into this k-drama 😍😍 ....I really don't know why this drama is so underrated....... Story, cinematography, cust,OST everything is so perfect!!😍😍

I just finished watching the drama yesterday and I have got to say this drama is so so so UNDERRATED!!
Sure, it has its flaws - the first 4 episodes were a little bit slow-paced for me and the ghost writer plot made me kinda uncomfortable.
But it turned out to be such a beautiful story, especially the 1930s part! How the three main characters fight for the independence of their country and how they are willing to sacrifice for a greater cause/others - I literally couldn't stop crying in the last few episodes TT
And the chemistry between Yoo Ah In and Im Soo Jung is crazy! Love both the "present" and "past" couples, they are just cute together ♥
I am also glad that it's not a story only about romance. The friendship between Se Joo/Jeon Seol/Jin Oh & Hwi Young/Soo Hyun/Shin Yool are simply beautiful. They understand and respect each other's choices. They genuinely love each other. It just makes me think that somehow they will always find their way to each other, no matter how many times they are reincarnated.
And the OST is also insane and on point!! Everything about this drama is just so perfect for me TAT
I really don't understand why the rating is so low (at least not up to my expectation)...

2020 and i'm still crying., i really can't move on from their past 💔 this underrated drama really raised the qualities., this is so beyond the limits.

Just finished this. I don't know why I didn't listen when they recommended it. It is really worth it. The story, message and of course it gave me thoughts on valuing more my life because someone out there, there once was those people who have fought for the freedom I have now. I really love this drama. Plus it's OSTs made me cry buckets of tears on the final episodes. So much emotion right there.
2023 is nearly approaching but still no other Kdrama can top this one.
This is my favorite kdrama of all time tbh. It sets my standard so high that the new dramas right now can't even surpass this masterpiece.
