You run what you have to work with. Older barns were built originally for loose hay, but easily were adapted to small squares. I was never in better shape than when I was handling 10k square bales each year. Twice to get em in the barn and again to feed them! Great video, Bill. Keeping the old iron employed!

I learn something new every video! Thank you! I helped on the farm when I was a kid. Simple things. Pulling wagons in and picking rocks were among my tasks. I never really got to learn more in depth. We don’t farm anymore. We rent it to Mennonite’s. But still have some tractors and equipment. So this is really cool to see how things work.

I was a La and L junkie. I had 2 L's and 3 LA's. Knew every nut and bolt. Fixed a many a one for customers over the years. That little tractor will pull a farmall cub backwards all day. Glad to see you still have the original throttle setup.

Round bales have worked well for us for a while, but a lot of that has to do with the way you feed and where the fields are. We throw out a ring feeder in the pasture and let them go at it, we also have a bunch of small fields not all connected, so it is better to bring a loader tractor and the 1 ton dump truck than the baler, wagon extra pair of hands to stack and then drive the wagon home unload it then back to the field

@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 That was the point everybody can find a system that works with their equipment, storage, feeding style, help, field proximity. I like seeing other ways work. Back 30 years or so we had a 336 and 24t with bale throwers and sided wagons, but things change.

I realize there are reasons for round baling, large square baling and small square baling but I can’t comprehend when you see small squares to be dropped on the ground and picking them up later. Like you said put them in a wagon and they leave the field when you do. Also ground compaction is a big issue and why all the extra driving around the field picking them up. But to each his own.
