    I'm a Dutch-American Ajax fan and I can tell you that Lily Yohannes is a true baller, a generational talent. She is the real deal.

    I'm excited to see her on the roster and I hope we get a chance to watch her play

    Calm down with the new “stars”!
    You were talking about Joannes......she didn't exist against Barcelona.
    You were talking about "Kafaji"...she was totally destroyed against PSG. (especially by Albert)
    The next big thing in the uswnst is Eva Gaetino. She will very soon be the best defender in the world. What she is doing at UWCL is just next level. Imagine she's only been a professional for 2 months...

      you dont see why that's important for the growth of this player? she's 16... even this hype about her is good for her in maturing.

    • @aletapequena
      @aletapequena 2 місяці тому +1

      Of course Yohannes did not exist against FC Barcelona... for that Ajax should have had to play against Barcelona
      Regarding Kafaji, she was not destroyed against PSG. She played really well considering her team was 2-3 steps below PSG level
      Gaetino is interesting but concluding she will be the best defender after 2 matches it is certainly optimistic

    I like it but at the same time we're getting closer to the olympics and theres still so many toss ups in terms of roster spots. Is she being seriously considered fornan olympic spot? I'd hate to waste an opportunity if shes not.

    She reminds me gedion zelalem. Hope she doesn't go down the same path that gedion went.

    Usa scouts recruiting big, strong and fast. Not very technical. They are looking for the next mia hamm. This 16 year old is good but she doesnt give the usa team anything more from the midfielders we already have.

      I'm an Ajax fan and you are dead wrong. Yohannes is a generational talent. She is only 16 but she has been dominating the Ajax midfield, playing very well against PSG, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea. She is physically very strong for her age, and an American sports mentality, paired with a Dutch technique on the ball. She is a brilliant player.

      it's in investment in a huge talent.. of course nothing to add now but her to give her talent, energy and faith. AND uswnt needs to play more for ball posession, Yohannes is there for this kind of game play.

    • @aletapequena
      @aletapequena 2 місяці тому +3

      Actually, Yohannes offers exactly what the USWNT midfield does not have... a player able to play possession football (soccer)

    This player has not been on the radar, but looks promising. If I were her, I would ask myself this question when deciding if she should play for the US or NL: After watching the USMNT/Berhalter play Gio as a 6, to go fetch the ball from the center backs because they don't have any ball-handling skills, is that going to be her path as well? Because Ajax/NL wouldn't and don't do that.

    • @RobertHawkins
      @RobertHawkins 2 місяці тому +5

      Literally Kilgore said she has been on the radar and playing for the US? Whose radar is she not on? or are you suggesting Kilgor is misleading us?

    • @WilliamMunny1880
      @WilliamMunny1880 2 місяці тому +1

      @@RobertHawkinsMedia radar, probably, in a way that she has not made any headlines or attracted any attention from US media so most of the public does not know her?

    • @WilliamMunny1880
      @WilliamMunny1880 2 місяці тому

      MNT and WNT will be operating very differently, considering that Berhalter doesn't know what he is doing half of the time.
      Plus we don't know what the NL would be utilizing her. Maybe she would end up as a 6, anyways?
      Being a 6 is not a bad thing. A good 6 is key to winning championships, and they are hard to find.

    • @r2dad282
      @r2dad282 2 місяці тому +1

      @WilliamMunny1880 it's not that I disagree a 6 is important but there are good reasons out country has never developed a world class #10 and this player looks like she might have the chops to do it. Hays might be different, but she will be running headlong into a USSF system that doesn't know what to do with a 10, starting at the youth level on up. At least she isn't in the US club system, which is miles behind Ajax.

    • @WilliamMunny1880
      @WilliamMunny1880 2 місяці тому +1

      @@r2dad282 Your point about USSF not knowing how to utilize a 10 is solid, so hopefully with Hayes that will change. I don't know how the Ajax system translate from men to women so cannot comment on that. I believe we did produce some world class Mids, not your typical 10s but close to be 10s (USWNT system did not utilize 10s often). Let's hope Yohannes can live up to her potential with USWNT.

    Lily, apart from the physical attributes accorded her by her Eritrean and Ethiopian DNA, has not in my opinion, acquired most of the skills needed to blend in with a top UEFA team. The very fact that Ajax, a second rate team, should want to include her, with her mediocre abilities, speaks for itself. In my opinion some University system, from the USA should entice her with a scholarship and get her to play in the US system and groom her accordingly. There is every chance that once she reaches the required threshold for gaining Dutch citizenship, she might fall in there.

    • @TheGrun13
      @TheGrun13 2 місяці тому +5

      Come on. Ajax won their Champions League group for the first time in history, largely because of Lily Yohannes. Sure, Ajax is not as good as Chelsea, but they did beat PSG and Bayern Munich. Besides, she had a true Ajax education, and that shows in her brilliant technique on the ball and her mature understanding of total football. It is crazy that a 16 year old can be so dominant. She is a genenerational talent.

      “… by her Eritrean and Ethiopian DNA …” - Rubbish!
      Lily is Eritrean American, born in Virginia, USA. Nothing wrong with being from Ethiopia or any other country, but let’s not misinform readers.

    *Stop this madness. No soul has seen this player performing. It's insane. At this point, you should already have the official USA Olympic roster. Vlatko was a bad influence on the coaching staff of this team. This man destroyed the combative spirit of the team. I hope the new coach steadies the ship.*

      What nonsense are you spouting? Lily Yohannes is a baller. I follow Ajax in the Women's Champions League and have seen her dominate. Just because you are ignorant doesn't make you right.

    • @WilliamMunny1880
      @WilliamMunny1880 2 місяці тому +1

      I have to respectfully disagree with you on this. I think VA lost control of the locker room before Olympics and some players really brought in the bad influences. Of course his staff was not world class, either, so that didn't help. I am ok with team trying to explore options and using this Olympic cycle to test out, send the messages to the rest that your spot is never a guarantee.

      For a new reign you must foresee. Young talents like Yohannes are important to get them aboard early to see how they're doing on the highest level (training, maybe 10mins of play, how do they carry themselves in a group of pro athletes, etcetera)

    • @aletapequena
      @aletapequena 2 місяці тому +1

      The fact you think no soul have seen Yohannes perform says more about you than about her.
