You’re starting point is lovely! Wouldn’t change it... how about a uv shade on the glass area so when you are not using it you could have the shades down. I don’t know if they exist but just a thought...

We had a great experience building a house too. Then my husband got a different job when the market crashed back in 2007, and now we live in a 1961 ranch style fixer upper.
Ok, fine, we are DIYers, however, I’m so excited to build again once this one is sold! I’ve got the house all picked out!

Thank you Gwen! I didn't keep up with my color choices, but I do remember going onto Pinterest and searching for "interior white walls" and using that as inspiration!

To remove coffee stains/smells from your cups and thermoses use an Efferdent tablet (those tablets you drop in a cup of water to soak dentures and mouth retainers in). You can find organic ones if you search on Amazon. I wish I could remember which DIY youtuber talked about that, but I tried it and it does work!

Beautiful home just stunning, do you have at least a single burner store a way for the guest house, just to warm up a can of soup/leftover on a burner would be fantastic for traveling nurses !
We do have one from camping but our guests have access to the outdoor kitchen, which has a grill :)

The ladder is my FAVE!! We actually had a local carpenter build all our shelves, cabinets, AND the ladder!
OMG your house is one of the most beautiful & closest to my style I have seen on UA-cam & your land is to die for!!! We are about to start the design process on our custom build & I would love to know approximate dimensions of ur closet, I need it in my life 🤣... also if you could do a video on building tips, regrets ect. that would be 👌
Awe thank you! The closet is about 20x20. Funny story...we actually added about 6 feet to it from the blueprints because we couldn't fit the island in it at first. So we pushed the whole other side of the house there out 6 more feet hahaha

We are considering doing concrete countertops after getting a quote for quartz and granite! 💰💵
Maybe I missed it, but can you describe how they’re not holding up? Any tips or suggestions to make our process easier?
Hi Michelle! I just realized I didn't include an up close shot of the parts that haven't held up! So, we cook A LOT, and where grease and oils have splattered, the finish has come off and also darkened the concrete. In other spots, where more acidic foods have spilled, over time, it ha also removed the finish. I believe if we recoated it again, it would be fine. I would say, if you are ok with knowing you'll need to refinish/coat the concrete every 2 years or so, then you'll be happy with them :) Hope that helps!
