A 62 year old man sobbing as he remembers like a bolt from the blue his father humming this after taking me to the film so many years ago. It brought rushing back the feel of my father’s hand and his back as he carried me. Thank you so much.
Lisa Hannigan used to sing alot and was in a relationship with Damian Rice. Two of my favourite songs they did are 'The Blowers Daughter' and '9 Crimes'.
@@laurawallis7093 she still does sing a lot... her solo albums are WELL worth checking out. Check out A Sail - you can thank me later ua-cam.com/video/om3KCO8YveI/v-deo.html&ab_channel=atorecords
Richard Sherman, who wrote this song, just died. He wrote Chim Chim Cheree, A Spoonful of Sugar, Trust in Me, I Wanna Be Like You and just about all the songs you loved as a kid. RIP Richard Sherman.
My dad would sing this song to me to put me to bed when I was a child. I am 40 years old-now! My father is with god for the last 8 years and this song reminds me of him. I really appreciate this song and it’s newer twist. Something I can share with my son from the next generation. Thank you!
Favourite childhood film. I sing this to my toddler every time I do bedtime. He demands it and it instantly soothes him to sleep. This is a truly magical version. Mind you, RH can do no wrong. Female vocals are entrancing. Love it .
Was just searching for "Hushabye Mountain" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and discovered this video. Wow! Awesome performance. Now I need to look up other songs by these singers.
If you haven't come across Lisa in particular then you are in for a real treat! She used to sing with Damien Rice but to our great benefit that did not finish well and she went out on her own. Enjoy!!
Same. For some reason I hadn't thought of that song since I heard it as a child from the movie. Never thought it I'd find a greatly improved version. Not knocking Dick Van Dyke's version. He did well too.
I'm going to weigh-in for the Hawley corner here (not that it's a choice, they're both astounding singers). Richard guest starred on 'The Fix' on Elbow's album 'Seldom Seen Kid' also. His solo career is the greatest presence in my musical life and I'd fully encourage you to check out 'Open Up your door', 'As the Dawn Breaks', Standing at the Sky's Edge', 'The Ocean' and anything else you find (those choices are based on you liking this song.) Enjoy!
Agreed. I think there may be some post production going on here where her voice has been compressed and the top frequencies emphasised to give it that raspy quality that differentiates it from Richard's very warm, middly sound. But whatever has been done, the combination of voices is magical and Lisa's vocals are stunning.
Dick Van Dyke is an actor who first sang this song in the movie " Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" in the 60s, he also starred " Mary Poppins. This beautiful version of Hushabye Mountain features Lisa Hannigan and was recorded in Dingle County Kerry Ireland in St James Church, a lovely tiny venue that has seen Amy Winehouse and Jarves Cocker and lots of othe artists play here.
Oh WOW. found this song by accident. It is so gorgeous. Both their voices are so well suited to this beautiful lullaby. ( A favourite of mine from a favourite film ) Lisa's quiet, slightly husky voice brings credibility to this gentle song. Perfect combination.
A gentle breeze from Hushabye Mountain Softly blows over Lullaby Bay, It fills the sails of boats that are waiting, Waiting to sail your worries away. It isn't far to Hushabye Mountain, And your boat waits down by the quay. The winds of night sdo softly are sighing, Soon they will fly your troubles to sea. So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain, Wave goodbye to cares of the day, And watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain Sail far away from Lullaby Bay. So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain, Wave goodbye to cares of the day, And watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain Sail far away from Lullaby Bay.
Beautiful lyrics to to this song.Shut your eyes and listen to the music and let your imagination flow freely,You can also feel that you are at Hushabye Mountain
deserves a wider audience and more publicity. Absolutely nailed the lullabye. I raised my daughter to this singing it to her as she went to sleep. until now I had never heard anyone other than Mr DvD sing it well. Brilliant.
Very outstanding performance by Richard Hawley and Lisa . Lovely song lovey music. Very relaxing music you can Listen to. Best wishes to you both lovely lady. Xxx💖🌹💐
OMG THIS LISA CHICK IS AMAZING! For some reason her voice sounds nostalgic . . . . She sounds like Leigh Nash from Six pence none the richer! omg I love her voice!
Richard opens this beautiful lullaby, and as Lisa begins, it makes you start dreaming. What an enchanting performance of the finest children's lullaby ever. briljant.
I love the music from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and is one of my top two! The other is Toot Sweet! This is certainly one of the best renditions I've ever heard! Beautiful! P.S. When I first saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the child catcher was the most frightening I could imagine and this song took my worries away!
I always knew that this was a song waiting to happen but that it wasn't in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. These two (and the band) completely nail it, revealing it to be as extraordinary a song as I oft suspected.
Beautifull lady. Lisa has a beautifull voice . nice to hear them both as a perfect duet together for this lovely song all the best Richard and the band. Brilliant song fantastic. the best 💖🌹💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

My wife sings this song to my newborn son every night. I had never heard it before, but now I’m obsessed and this version is mesmerizing. Well done!!!
It’s from my favorite movie when I was a kid, called chitty chitty bang bang (I think it came out in the 60s, but I was watching in in the mid 2000s).
Your wife might learn Inchworm maybe and sing that

Dad passed away today. 95. He was our Caractacus Pott. Sang this to us. He was my Dick Van Dyke. RIP. ❤
79 dislikes.... there are some really lost people out there. God luv'em
Lol I thumbed up and I really like both their voices, but I think this song would've been better with just him.
It was probably all Damien Rice......🙄😅
79 people who have no class.
Beautiful. 1:46
Some people just do like to dream I guess
That female singer's voice is otherworldly...

You'd love Joanna Newsom if you've not already heard of her.
Only 13 years late getting to this. These two together makes perfect sense. Lisa's voice is like brushed velvet.
Richard Sherman, who wrote this song, just died. He wrote Chim Chim Cheree, A Spoonful of Sugar, Trust in Me, I Wanna Be Like You and just about all the songs you loved as a kid. RIP Richard Sherman.
I didn't know. I love his music ❤
Always stuck with me from being a child. A hypnotic and beautiful piece of music
When you listen to this song the world is good again.
I am a stay at home dad, and this was always my go-to song to whisk my 2 to the arms of Morpheus. Beautiful rendition x
Always loved this song from the film, but Lisa and Richard turn it into a beautiful and haunting performance, its magical truly is.
This is my sons lullaby. My British wife grew up hearing this before bed.
I sing this to my daughter to bed as well. Cheers
What a strange and haunting song - what a treat these two singers have served up!
Chitty chitty bang bang
I remember going to see Chitty Bang Bang as a kid and crying when this song came on.
My dad would sing this song to me to put me to bed when I was a child. I am 40 years old-now! My father is with god for the last 8 years and this song reminds me of him. I really appreciate this song and it’s newer twist. Something I can share with my son from the next generation. Thank you!
Two beautiful voices……. A comfort blanket of music……

Thank you. Waited 42 years to hear this song again.
Richard and the band...the highest grade musicians..
Lisa’s voice is sorta husky and raspy yet she makes it sound so smooth and beautiful. kinda hard to explain.

True, so true. The soft haunting lull of her voice is exquisite.
Same! I love it :)
Yep Lisa Hannigan is really amazing
Why do I always cry at this song??
Same here. I keep trying to sing it and then my voice cracks about three lines in. This song (particularly as sung here) is a lot more than a lullaby.
I always knew that this was a song waiting to happen but that it wasn't in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. These two (and the band) completely nail it, revealing it to be as extraordinary a song as I oft suspected.

What a beautiful rendition! Excellent voices. Excellent musicians. That's all it takes.
Beautiful version.
Beautiful. Lisa's great but Richard too is fantastic. An under rated & relatively obscure musician. Quality.
