Well, after 15 years we sold the beloved 1998 Minnie 22WK and upgraded to a 2016 Itasca Spirit 25B also made by Winnebago. I am going to leave this video up to help those who are considering buying this model or one similar.
Mike and Willene Gladu thanks for leaving the video up im a class b fan i have plans to travel in the future my taste is less than 25 feet long im not a fan of big rigs or class a i never knew this rv was out there thanks to you i got see something new and small this could wotk for me im the future
Thanks for leaving it up also. Like Christoper 600cc we are Class B/B+ fans with a Pleasure-Way on a Ford Cutaway Chassis with the V-10 E350. I really like the floorplan of the Minnie 22WK. Wish they still made it.
Rust can be an issue with vehicles or RV's from the Northeast. We have a Ford Explorer that came from that area that has some rust. Hopefully you've already found the worse of it and your RV is good overall.
I just bought a 2002 Winnebago Minnie Winnie There is a massive finished bed in the back!! I can't imagine you too climbing a latter to bed every night. Glad you sold it :)
We just bought a 1998 Tioga by Fleetwood. Almost same layout except shower is across from the bathroom. If passenger didn’t have cab cup holder thats a deal breaker! 🤣. Its a nice motor home with low miles. We are enjoying it so far!!
ITS NICE TO SEE OLDER MODELS VANS STILL IN SUCH GREAT CONDITION AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF. ALL THESE NEWER VERSIONS ARE VERY NICE BUT NOT ALL THAT NECESSARY, OLDER VERSION MUSH CHEAPER... THANKS FOR THE TOUR...
Love the camper. Lucky you to get a new one. I want a camper so much but my husband is not even interested at all. I told him in my next life time I will have a camper.
Kathy Hodges lol me too Kathy! I love the thought of randomly traveling the us in an RV-of course visiting family, exploring cities and towns would be so fun. Right now my husband and I are empty nesters and live in a 3200 sq foot house with a large yard and above ground pool. I know it sounds nice but we're in our 60's now and maintaining everything is tedious hard work. I would be ecstatic to size everything down and live in an RV.
Just stumbled across your video. It’s funny because we just purchased our first RV (Thor Four Winds 22B) from a rental company (Great Alaskan Holidays) in Anchorage.
After we sold the 1998 Minnie, we bought a new 2016 Itasca Spirit 25B from Great Alaskan Holidays. Besides the rentals they sell new one's too but haven't seen them sell any new Class C's for a while.
I enjoyed video. I appreciate tour. I'm considering a small class C. Being "solo lady" I feel safe not having to exit upon arrival anywhere were if I was towing an rv. Iv heard leak complaints in the over cab area. The repair you had done looks very nice. I keep my RV in a garage since brought. from factory new. which keeps fad at 16 years at none. Happy Trails to you both. Dog is precious. Jp
Love your old rig - it is so much like mine which I am about to renovate. Mine is the rear kitchen & bath as well and I don't know how anyone lives in any other layout! I sure wish I knew the people you had to your cab-over work because I need that done as well. Hmmm...that seems to be the weak spot in Class C campers... Happy travels in your new rig and thanks for keeping this video up.
I hate to even say how expensive it was to have the overhead cab professionally rebuilt. We did use the RV for a long time afterwards though before selling it.
Vinyl. Yup, especially with a dog. I just pulled the carpet out of our bedroom area. I would love to get it out of the cab area, too, but I have to think about that.
thanks for the video as the old rv's is the only way to go. am looking at 90's class c's now. quite making quality over 15 years ago. everybody turns out nightmares on wheels since then with lousy build quality, cheap materials and parts etc. only a couple of quality manufacturers building b+/class c, like born free, pleasure way, leisure time. even airstream is apparently turning out junk now as i saw a post from a guy that bought a airstream b new that was in the shop so much and spent so much time down and out waiting on parts he gave up and got rid of it.
I plan to do a tour of the 25B soon. We are presently traveling with it from Alaska to Georgia. My video tour is going to include pros, cons and mods. A lot of the RV tours I see on UA-cam are done by salesman and seem sugar coated. So I will do a real unbiased review. Thanks, Mike
We bought from an RV rental company when the motorhome was 3 years old and had about 40,000 miles on it. We paid $26,500, we then used it for 15 years and sold it for $12,500 when it had 91,000 miles on it.
Yes she is! She is almost the perfect dog. If it wasn't for the excessive barking, the hoarding, the separation anxiety and the chewing on things Slippers would be the perfect dog.
Was the dry rot repair from the improperly sealed awning installation covered by the awning installer? Seems like it should be, since it most likely was fairly expensive! By the way, that is one of the loveliest looking campgrounds I've ever seen, and I've seen a ton, as my husband and I were full time RV'ers for the last two years of his life
The company who installed the awning was a RV rental company that we bought the Minnie from and had paid extra for the awning to be added. By the time the water damage had set in and we had the body reconstructed the rental company we bought the Minnie from was no longer in business. They may have disputed liability and cause if they were still around. RV owners should inspect their seals every 6 to 12 months and fix them but the place on the awning was kind of hidden.
Thanks, the 1998 Minnie we sold did not have a ladder when we bought it in 2001. We got to the top bed by stepping up on the back of the dinette seat. Our new 2016 Spirit does have a ladder.
OVERHEAD REBUILD - Please tell me how much the rebuild cost, how long it took and who did please...I have the same model with the same problem and I'm researching my options now...thanks!
People might think I'm crazy for spending so much on the repair but we lived in Alaska where work is more expensive and we did use the RV for years after the work without any structural issues. It was done by Karen's RV of Anchorage, Alaska. They had it for a couple of months in the winter. The total cost was $11,000 for replacing the overhead structure and included resealing the entire roof. I was pleased with their work.
That does seem pricey to me but if it's worth it to you that's all that counts. I asked because I'm buying a '98 Coachmen Catalina 195 for $1900 and the cab over is shot even with a split below the window. I think I can seal it all up until I'm able to do the repair properly. The rig is just like yours with the V10, working generator so well worth it I think. Currently I'm in a 32' Bounder which I love but I want to be able to park anywhere. Being able to park downtown anywhere is HUGE! So, I'm beginning a new adventure and have a pretty big rebuild job in my future. So we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the feedback. How many miles on your Mini? What's the gas tank capacity?
The Minnie had 91,000 miles on it when I sold it a year ago. it had a 40 gal. gas tank. My understanding about an RV that has structural dry rot beneath the shell and a delaminated skin is that sealing the joint gaps doesn't repair the problem, the whole assembly begins to come apart. The only remediation is to replace the rotted wood and reskin. I had tried sealing the cabover a few times and gaps just kept getting wider, good luck.
It's a learning experience, we did get a lot of fun out of it for 15 years and it was in a harsh Alaska climate most of those years. You do think how you can do better now with the next motorhome. On the up side the Minnie was in excellent condition when we sold it, the buyers inspected it thoroughly and are very pleased with it.
Yes. Thanks for the response. I always need to remember that we learn as we go and can move on. Nice to know it has a good new home. Look forward to see the new digs.
The 1998 Minnie we sold did not have a ladder when we bought it in 2001. We got to the top bed by stepping up on the back of the dinette seat. Our new 2016 Spirit does have a ladder.
Just uploaded a video Tour of our new 2016 Itasca Spirit 25B motorhome, also made by Winnebago. If you watched this video, you might be interested in the new video of the Itasca. ua-cam.com/video/wLyKZhTIAoM/v-deo.html
I am wondering if you would be interested in selling your motorhome...I'm looking for one asap I had an engine fire in mine 3 wks ago and I have been living in it for 3 yrs...
Great video,i just purchase a very similar MOTORHOME but is 1994,and your video help me a lot...
Congratulations! Thanks for watching.

Thank you for leaving it up. I'm heading to Cape Cod from Northern VT to pick one up tomorrow. Nice to have a video to obsess over until I get there.
Hope you enjoy your Winnebago. We never had to do any repairs on the V10 accept for replacing a couple of sensors.
Mike and Willene Gladu thanks for leaving the video up im a class b fan i have plans to travel in the future my taste is less than 25 feet long im not a fan of big rigs or class a i never knew this rv was out there thanks to you i got see something new and small this could wotk for me im the future

I would definitely live out of one of these, way more freedom and luxury for the cost, the apartments for rent near me are terrible.
I really like these class C units with the fridge in the rear, they are hard to come by
I just bought a 2002 Winnebago Minnie Winnie There is a massive finished bed in the back!! I can't imagine you too climbing a latter to bed every night. Glad you sold it :)

Thanks for leaving this up. I am hoping to buy 1998 Minnie Winnie in November, 2018.
Id buy this if it was still available based on the care taken to make this lovely video. Cheers
Nice. Seem like a lot of room and comfort for two people.
Sure love that model class C but that dog!! Haha he wants to be on TV!!
Love the camper. Lucky you to get a new one. I want a camper so much but my husband is not even interested at all. I told him in my next life time I will have a camper.

Get your camper. We grow as an individual and not loos ourselves. :)
Divorce is an option

Thank you, we have our new Class C under a carport. You need a 12 ft. high clearance carport or garage for most Class C's.
how much I miss the road, once we are clared to go back to a semi regular normal life I will hit the road for a week
great video
You can do it!
the mini wini campers are very nice, I am in Gastonia about 90 miles from Ashville

Thanks!
I really like the rear kitchen
Love your old rig - it is so much like mine which I am about to renovate.

Thanks for sharing this.
Been a near life long dream of owning one of these...
Hi Slippers! lol...
~D.S.
you know that nobody builds as good of a tire as GOODYEAR, they are a little more but are worth it
Thanks for doing this. Im interested in buying one. Really helpful!
Nice old RV'ers
nice rig! thank you for sharing
Vinyl. Yup, especially with a dog. I just pulled the carpet out of our bedroom area. I would love to get it out of the cab area, too, but I have to think about that.
Very nice, cute dog!!!
great motor home from terry schnell
if your back end is too low you might want to consider air bags under the back to lift it up a bit
thanks for the video as the old rv's is the only way to go. am looking at 90's class c's now. quite making quality over 15 years ago. everybody turns out nightmares on wheels since then with lousy build quality, cheap materials and parts etc. only a couple of quality manufacturers building b+/class c, like born free, pleasure way, leisure time. even airstream is apparently turning out junk now as i saw a post from a guy that bought a airstream b new that was in the shop so much and spent so much time down and out waiting on parts he gave up and got rid of it.

Finally posted the video tour of our Itasca Spirit 25B today.

Mike and Willene Gladu If that was a typical sample of their work I am not surprised they went out of business!
Nice video on your old Minnie Winnie. How do you like your upgrade? Let's us know.
Posted a video tour today of our 2016 Itasca 25B
Very Nice ..
Cute dog. Thank you for the info. Next video you might want to tie the dog to a tree.
Have you had any problems with the V10 engine. I heard they thrown plugs. High fuel consumption.
Other then replaceing a couple of sensor, we never had any problem with the V10. It averaged 10.5 MPG tested many times.
Really nice RV, how do you get into the top bed? is there a ladder? and where do you store it?
deezie
Thanks, the 1998 Minnie we sold did not have a ladder when we bought it in 2001. We got to the top bed by stepping up on the back of the dinette seat. Our new 2016 Spirit does have a ladder.
wow no ladder, thats great you have one in the new RV.
deezie n
Is it for sail and the lowest and located at
I sold it 6 years ago in Anchorage, Alaska.
Practical camper and comfortable. How much was the purchased from a rental company?
We bought it in 2001 with 41,000 miles for $26,500, prices from the rental company's on 3 year old RV's have increased since then.
OVERHEAD REBUILD - Please tell me how much the rebuild cost, how long it took and who did please...I have the same model with the same problem and I'm researching my options now...thanks!

Hello, do you remember how much this can pull when towing
No, we never towed with it. I believe there are some specifications on paper inside the closet door or the manual.
It always sound like fun till someone shows you how many problems they've had with theirs. That can get expensive.
It's a learning experience, we did get a lot of fun out of it for 15 years and it was in a harsh Alaska climate most of those years. You do think how you can do better now with the next motorhome. Yes. Thanks for the response. I always need to remember that we learn as we go and can move on. Nice to know it has a good new home. Look forward to see the new digs.
What’s your gas mileage
We averaged 10.5 MPG with this RV.

The 1998 Minnie we sold did not have a ladder when we bought it in 2001.

Probably dumb question but do YOU still have this
No, I sold it last year when we bought a new 2016 Itasca Spirit 25B also made by Winnebago. We did a video tour of it also.
I am wondering if you would be interested in selling your motorhome...I'm looking for one asap I had an engine fire in mine 3 wks ago and I have been living in it for 3 yrs...
I sold the one in this video 7 years ago. Hope you find a replacement.
