Prodigy in the making! Unfortunately towards the end of the lesson my camera ran out of space.....
Because Ruby is a shy, soft girl notice how my persona matches hers. I am also not too "humorous" because she wouldn't even get the jokes haha... I even whisper to her a few times so I don't scare her ~
Next time, I will film a lesson with a crazy 6 year old boy doing grade 1....
    Lesson notes:
    Flash Cards
Treble Clef - CDE, FG, ABC
Bass Clef - CDE, FG, AB
Rhythm - crotchet, minim, dotted minim, semibreve
Five finger singles exercise (see next lesson)
    RH LH 5x
    Both hands 5x
    C major scale (2 octaves)
    LH - practice 5x
    RH - practice 3x
    Both hands 5x
    3-4-3 turn
    John Thompson Part Two
    Page 8, 9, 11, 12 - new
    count out loud
    metronome beat = 96
    Bastien Primer B
    Page 10, 11, 12 - new
    Counting out loud
    metronome beat = 96
2 stickers + muso of the month

I have a piano student who has a tendency to play on the piano whenever I talk. You telling your student to put their hands behind their back is such a simple and effective tool!

I learned that its a great approach to learn them playing and listening, before the more dry, analytical approach, specially when they are so small. This doesnt reduce them to the small amount of notes. Also technically theycould evolve before studying from score. I prefer to start rhythm with words instead of umvers, let them create and write /draw their own
They soon can do pretty complicated stuff but it never feels dry or "in the head".
It s a charming class and sweet girl nevertheless. Imaging though, that the expessive, creative and thus technical potential could be included more.

Hi, I just recently discovered the channel. I was wondering are you considering making a version of the flashcards with the solfège (do re mi) system? They seem great but i dont wanna confuse my kids with the letters

Hi Louise! We don't teach piano that way and we are passionate about only teaching kids with letters. If you are interested in our flash cards, here are some details!

Never teach with fixed-do solfège. It only hinders the development of relative pitch. Movable-do is the way to go for solfège, otherwise why so many music colleges around the world are shifting toward this direction?

Hi there! To learn notes, we use flash cards. We also use John Thompson Parts 1 and Two, John Bastien Prima A, Prima B and Level 1. We do not use any further levels as we deem them unncessary.
      Some details below:

Muso Music Academy has a method designed to accelerate their students "through the grades" while still making it fun and maintaining high standards. They have several other videos about how they teach. These lessons are a part of them.
