@shaynadufresne oh wow! Really?? I know here in the states sometimes B&B works or VS has semi-annual sales on their products 🤔. I assumed Costa Rica 🇨🇷 would have them too. If not, what a shame. I would literally buy one item at a time and make it last then! 🤣😂
@@amywamalayes they do still have the sales but still more expensive due to the crazy import taxes here in Costa Rica which makes the original prices that much more, so even after the sale price it's still a lot more expensive than in North America. A year or so ago we were lucky enough to be at this mall when Bath & Body Works had their semi-annual sale on and even though it was still more expensive than I'm used to I treated myself and stocked up on 8 of the 3 wick candles! I still have some that are not even used yet 😅 needless to say, I will have lots to give away soon when we move! 😂

Yes much different than the beach! They enjoyed finding some things they wanted. Living in Samara has taught us to enjoy shopping and not go overboard with instant gratification of stuff. Something we'll continue to do even in the cities we'll be living in.

We just went, I was sad to have missed their amazing Christmas trees.
Funny! We were just there this past Friday for our friend's birthday party. We went to Tinto Y Blancos on the ground floor next to H & M and the movie theater. We sat outside. The wine selection was pretty expansive. Our food was good to very good. Mostly Tapas and some bigger plates. We didn't go inside the Mall at all though.

surprised that all the store spaces have a business in them..there is a small mall in grecia and it is about 80% unoccupied-been like that for over a decade,..i don't shop in any mall, the price markup is 30-40% higher...crazy...good tour
All of the big malls are fully rented out, Costa Ricans in the city have money and they are very Americanized and like to buy stuff. For some things you have no choice to shop in a mall and the mark up is the government import tax which needs to be cut in half. It's robbery

I noticed that the majority of the people are wearing long pants, but the weather is so hot there. I noticed this phenomenon in other hot clime countries as well. I'm not certain about it but I have formulated an educated guess, can it be that covering the skin from the sun actually helps?

The central valley ranges from 15 to 28 degrees, the locals are climatized and it does rain quite a bit up there. Plus they spend a lot of time indoors so yes their skin isn't used to the sun, covering your skin also blocks vitamin D which is very important from entering your body. The reason so many people get sick in North America and Europe, especially in the winter is lack of vitamin D from no sun or too much sun block in the summer.
Yes, you are right. Northerners get MS a lot more than southerners, apparently because of lack of Vitamin D.
I'm a local, don't know how to explain it but short pants feel very informal and rural and don't feel belonging in the middle of the city. So in the central valley and specially when hanging out in a very urbanistic place, you use an outfit similar to what you would use in a job interview without falling into a full on suit.
I'm also the only weird one using a hoodie at high noon, but i really hate the sun, it feels like needles in my skin, i rather have a bit of sweat than the piercing sun in my skin.

We did actually, our condo unit was scorching hot when the sun was coming in through all of the windows! We had mostly full sun and blue skies for the whole week we were there which was nice but it definitely was warm!
