All that they have coming at them is music as a product to sell in which they are buyers and consumers, not listeners.
@@inkyguy If nothing else my school puts a large amount of budget into the fine arts programs (we have band, orchestra, jazz band, marching band, choir, and art), and we see the arts as something that benefits every student (at least 2 years of fine arts classes is a requirement to graduate).

The fact that there were people that were smiling through the whole piece was amazing and can tell from the wind players too that they enjoy it and love it
I adore the Latin style rhythms in this. The Clarinet, Trumpet and Piccolo solos are amazing and I love the smiles of the players at the end as they start the gradual crescendo to the climax,

Antes de esta representación, Gustavo vino a México y asistió Al Salón Los Angeles...Icónico sitio donde se presentaron grandes bandas de Danzón y con tradición de baile. El bailó con su esposa ahí buen rato para absorver el sentir y el ritmo de llas Orquestas de Danzón que aún hay en esta hermosa Ciudad.
Márquez: Danzón No. 2 is a vibrant and colorful orchestral piece that reflects the dance style of danzón, which originated in Cuba and became popular in Mexico. The piece was composed by the Mexican composer Arturo Márquez in 1994, and was commissioned by the National Autonomous University of Mexico. It was premiered by the Orchestra Filarmonica de la UNAM under the direction of Francisco Savín.
The piece is written for full orchestra, and features solos for clarinet, oboe, piano, violin, double bass, French horn, trumpet, flute and piccolo. The piece has a rhythmic and melodic interest that is maintained through the use of varying accents and tempo. The piece is divided into four sections, each with a different character and mood.
The first section is a slow introduction that sets the scene with a mysterious and nostalgic atmosphere. The clarinet plays a lyrical melody over a soft accompaniment by the strings and the piano. The melody is repeated by the oboe and then by the violin, creating a dialogue effect.

I have been enjoying this recording for many months as it brings a smile to my face each time I hear these rhythms and see these young musicians performing at such a high level. Maestro Dudamel is a pleasure to watch as he is so expressive and gives his musicians positive feedback throughout the performances. A smile goes a long way with most anyone.
Because of all this, I was able to attend the New York Philharmonic this past Sunday performing Mahler's 9th Symphony with Gustavo conducting, and he did not disappoint. We had 2nd row seats just to his left, and it was an experience I will always remember. Can't wait to see him there as Music & Artistic Director even though I live in Michigan. Great excuse to visit NYC. Congratulations!!

¡Gracias por la recomendación de escuchar la versión del Danzón Nº 2 de NEOJIBA - Orquestra Juvenil da Bahia - Danzón nº 2 (Realização: IDSM/Governo da Bahia/SJDHDS). Definitivamente, es una ejecución magistral impregnada del realismo mágico que recorre América Latina. Mientras residí en Puerto Rico, tuve la oportunidad de adquirir una Edición de Oro de Danzones de México y fue una experiencia musical increíble, pero más lo fue después estar en Cuernavaca y en el Parque junto al Mercado de Artesanías de la Ciudadela en la CDMX y ver la ejecución de las parejas que se reúnen los domingos a bailar el danzón. Y aunque en Puerto Rico, bailamos el danzón de forma diferente un poco más impregnados de la ejecución Bahiana, fue un deleite ver la majestuosidad que dan los danzantes mexicanos y su forma de ejecutar el danzón. La ejecución de Neojiba da aires nuevos al danzón, inclusive un poco más al estilo quizás caribeño que nos define a los Puertorriqueñ@s, sin embargo, no puedo negar que la ejecución de Dudamel, me hizo recordar en todo momento a esas parejas mexicanas que se reúnen con toda esa actitud ceremonial y garbo que impregna las tardes de la Ciudadela y Cuernavaca. Saludos y podría extenderme y decir con un respeto y orgullo enormes: ¡Vivan Bahía, Venezuela y México!

Es La Habana, es Veracruz, es San Juan de Puerto Rico, es Cádiz en España... Es Lecuona y Percy Faith... Viva Venezuela y sus magníficos músicos, bajo uno de los cuales - Director Raúl Aquiles Delgado - tuve el honor de ser dirigido.
Extraordinario maestro Dudamel y la orquesta! Me hicieron sentir cada momento y cada nota sutil, cada respiración y ataque, y la parte del montuno magistral. Conocí a gustavo dudamel por una persona que fue muy importante para mi , si el supiera que escucho su música solo para recordarlo una y otra vez. Sin embargo poco a poco le cogí muchisimo amor a esta música , me encanta me deleita de verdad. La música es tan increible , amo la música.
