    I have one too. It's not too heavy and the knife is great. It is definitely on the expensive side, but I'm happy with the quality of the knife. I think one can't go wrong with Victorinox.

    If you weigh 120 pounds, and you're a female, then this knife will be heavy for you. If you're not a 120lb female, it's not too heavy as far as hunting knives go. It's slightly heavier than a Buck 110, but not significantly.
    It's a beautiful knife, and pictures and videos don't do it justice. It's probably the nicest looking knife in my collection, and I have around 200 knives from the top brands.
    It's sharper than anything I've purchased in the past. And the sharpness has lasted quite a long time after first use. Victorinox knows how to sharpen their knives to where you can use it to shave your beard.
    I highly recommend this knife if you're an occasional hunter, or if you're a SAK collector. This is a must have for collectors, just like the Buck 110. You'll get a damn good knife, with a solid product warranty, for around $100 US currency.

    I recommend the non-Alox Hunter pro because the ergonomic is great and it is also cheaper than the Alox. I think the Alox versions are more adapted for collection, not so much for real use.
    The rather soft steel (56 HRC) used by Victorinox is fine, you just need to sharpen it regularly but it's very easy (I spend less than 1 minute and then it cuts like a razor again), so there is no problem. If you wish it stays sharp for a longer time, you can also increase the sharpening angle. I keep mine to a 25-30 degree angle. An advantage of this steel is that it is extremely resistant to chemical attacks, or corrosion. Therefore, it is an excellent choice for a hunter/ adventurer evolving in a wet environment such as a tropical forest or swamp area.

    Too bad you broke it cause one day in the future it would have been worth a lot of money.
    Regardless of quality, a first production Victorinox knife that totally changed in style from their entire collection will be a high value collection item in the future. I worked in Antiques and Collectibles. Imagine the value of the first production Buck 110, OMG. I live in Canada. Last year the government banned importation of this type of knife. My Victorinox Hunter Pro Alox is now gone up in value, big time. 40+ years I've been a carpenter, never broke a tool. BTW my knife works perfectly, using it today, no problem. You may not like it but you shouldn't tell other people not to buy it just because you don't like it.

      Thanks you for your comment!! I understand your point of view... But it's a possibility, it's not for sure, could worth something in 40 years or not, it's not the first victorinox. Also Italy borders with Switzerland, here in the north of Italy, victorinox are pretty common, knives, even book and newspapers shop has it. I'm sorry to hear that in Canada is a rare item... But unfortunately we have the same problem for some American or Japanese brand, so that's normal. Anyway I'm not a collector, I'm a user, so I just don't care to much about that value thing. I have used knives so much more expensive and rare than that. I care more about it's construction and it's cutting ability. The knife it's not broken, it has some blade-play, this problem came out pretty quickly, just after a few uses... Nothing too serious, no abuse or misuse, no chopping or batoning, just simple cuts. So that's basically not acceptable. Of course that's my opinion.

      Hi, I think you can squeeze the pivot point rivet with a vice or hammer it to tighten it. I'm 69 and I don't think I'll be around if it becomes a collectible. If I am then I'll be a collectible myself by then. I don't think it was meant to be a tough knife. Victorinox makes nice but not heavy duty stuff.
      Here they only banned one hand opening knives, like Spyderco from importation into the country. You can buy and sell within Canada, but not import into the country. Nobody knows what's going on. It's a new law. No problem, saves my credit card.

    Ciao, ho comprato questo coltello per scopi collezionistici, molte delle tue osservazioni sono condivisibili. Penso che la Vic abbia mantenuto i rivetti (al posto delle viti) per creare una continuità stilistica e costruttiva con gli altri coltelli della serie Alox, ed anche per poter utilizzare i pezzi della Hunter pro normale (lama, molla).
    Comparandolo con uno Spydrco Endura ne esce malaccio, comunque resta un buon coltello.
    Una precisazione: l'acciao della sereie Alox 93 mm è il 1.4110 l'Hunter Pro usa il 1.4116.

    • @zoroutdoor9
      @zoroutdoor9 4 роки тому +1

      Ciao!! Grazie per la risposta!! Si hai ragione il vic è in 1. 4116, un acciaio abbastanza modesto. Il problema principale sono il prezzo e la grandezza del coltello. Perché se fosse piccolo e costasse poco le forze che subirebbe sulla lama non sarebbero sufficienti a far allentare i perni. Costando poco, anche se dovesse succedere non sarebbe un problema. Ma viste le dimensioni e il costo, è assurdo che non sia in nessun modo smontabile o regolabile. Inoltre ci sono tutta una serie di problemi secondari come la clip, il bisello, l'apertura non fluida ecc. Insomma è meglio spendere in altro. L'endura è un grande coltello per quello che costa, anche il Delica.

    Ciao Zoro , concordo con te su molte delle osservazioni che hai fatto , possiedo la versione con guancette in polimero nero e almeno quelle sono rimovibili e sostituibili , risulta effettivamente pesante e scarsamente pulibile , stesso acciaio 1.4116 sabbiato , tuttavia la mia versione fu acquistata a 60 € , un prezzo tutto sommato abbordabile..... questa versione Alox è certamente fuori mercato e quella rosso rubino francamente incomprabile...riguardo la clip onestamente mi chiedo per quale motivo non abbiano creato una sede nella guancetta Alox , dal momento che sono fissate ai liner in maniera solidale attraverso perni a testa tonda , avrebbero potuto fissarla con piccole viti torx e renderla reversibile....per quanto riguarda il pivot non registrabile , effettivamente si tratta di una leggerezza , tuttavia il mio non ha mai manifestato i giochi abbastanza evidenti e visibili del tuo esemplare , malgrado un' uso abbastanza frequente , la lama risulta piuttosto spessa e con una bisellatura piuttosto bassa che come giustamente hai fatto notare , mal si presta a processare il cibo , sopratutto frutta e verdura , sulla carne il discorso cambia ...per migliorare l' affilatura ( che già di fabbrica non fa gridare al miracolo ) utilizzo regolarmente una cinghia di cuoio a mo di coramella , questo sistema consente di " lucidare " il filo , asportando eventuali piccoli segni d'usura e rendendolo notevolmente più incisivo....te lo consiglio nel caso tu voglia tenerlo , tuttavia l' 1.4116 se ben affilato regala anche qualche soddisfazione ( si tratta pur sempre di un' acciaio chirurgico....) e la ritenzione bordo non è delle peggiori , bel video.....alla prossima ....Alex steel....

    • @zoroutdoor9
      @zoroutdoor9 5 років тому

      Ciao Alex!! Grazie per l'apprezzamento!! Guarda come dicevo, secondo me il fatto che non sia smontabile ne regolabile, ne pulibile, un coltello del genere... Lo trovo assurdo. La lama è durissima da aprire eppure ha gioco... L'acciaio è onesto, ma per quella cifra uno si aspetterebbe un upgrade. Queste cose sono ok su un classico vic multi-tool, perché lì ci sta che non si possa smontare e ci sta anche l'acciaio, anche perché ha un prezzo onestissimo. Però qua si strizza l'occhio al mercato americano e internazionale, si è cercato di creare un edc in competizione con le altre Marche, fallendo miseramente. Per la stessa cifra ci sono decine di cold steel, spyderco e benchmade, con acciai migliori, materiali migliori, blocchi migliori, smontabili e facili da usare. Inoltre rispetto al tuo, che ho visto di persona, ti assicuro che questo alox è davvero pesante. Secondo me lo stesso tentativo, un po' meglio riuscito, ma comunque fuori dal suo contesto l'ha fatto la mora con il garberg. Anche lì il prezzo è assurdo per il prodotto che ricevi, dovrebbe costare la metà. Il fatto che sia tutta un'operazione commerciale lo dimostra il fatto che la versione al carbonio costa più di quella inox e ciò è assurdo, non ha nessun senso in relazione agli acciai usati.

      anch'io ho la versione in polimero, al prezzo pagato è stata una buona presa. ha dei difetti e l'ho riaffilato subito cambiando un po' l'angolo per usarlo a caccia. le versioni alox per me non si tengono in mano: troppo scomode perché il manico è alto e sottile. sul gioco degli alox non mi esprimo, il mio non ne ha.

  • @arindambhattacharjee1121
    @arindambhattacharjee1121 2 роки тому +2

    Using red alox for almost a year and honestly say that buying the knife is a wrong decision for me.
    The weight of 168 gram is not for ideal edc weight.
    You can't open it for cleaning after dusty use.
    You can't adjust the pivot for any play.
    It's starting vertical play after some day of use.
    After replacing through warrenty the new one starting vertical blade play like the old one.
    Steel is not bad but in this price point it should be better.
    Construction of the knife bulletproof and it makes it heavier.
    Victorinox is a world famous multitool maker but not everything from victorinox are precious.
    And each of their products are ridiculously heavy price tag.
    So if you need a quality branded company knife just go for it.
    But if you think For a good knife with better steel and price tag , think 10 times before buying it.

I wanted to know if it was a good choice for the price. But it wasn't in my opinion, that knife was full of problems after a few uses in the woods, nothing extreme, just cutting. Victorinox make some great pliers, super tuff and well made, they have the best multitool knife in the world and they also offer some great kitchen knives, with great prices. Lots of restaurants or professionists uses their kitchen knives. But that's it, no one is capable of making the best knives in every area. They are quite far from making a good edc, a good hunting knife or a good bushcraft knife. They aren't capable of offer a new super sinterized inox steel or a modern disassemble flipper (edc) knife. Others like Buck folders with plastic handles have side/side play straight out of the box. I think his criticism of this Victorinox is valid and it's his opinion which I mostly agree with which is why I didn't buy it. Not sure why you would question someone's manliness because you don't agree with him. That is childish. You said that this knife is better than he says it is but you haven't countered his criticism in any constructive way. Perhaps you can do a review since you seem to like the product and have experience with it. Saying that "it just works fine" is not too convincing.

      Hey grandpa, your antiquated views on manliness have nothing to do with the fact that this is a poorly thought out and overpriced knife. Weight is a serious consideration for EDC or camping/hiking applications in addition to all the other gear in a bag, an extra 20-30 grams can make a difference.

    You can read its weight online. You can see pivots and no screws online. You can see no clip screws there online. If you look pictures and specifications online then you know everything before buying it. So why did you buy it then? Buck 110 is a classic and doesnt even have a clip and dont have any screws just pivots. People still love it. Why? Because it lasts forever. Same with this Victorinox Hunter alox. So people dont give a sh!t… The Buck 110 is even heavier while being smaller. This Victorinox is a lightweight for its size. And it is easy to clean. Pump air through it, put it in soap water and oil it. My works perfectly since 4 years. No Play in blade and it is with me almost every day in the woods. By the way the Steel is not the same. Normally Victorinox uses 1.4110 Dura, the Hunter pro alox has 1.4119 Dura. Not much difference but there definitely is a difference. It is worth its 110 Euros since made in Swizerland and not made in China. USA made or made in Germany costs the same. Yes, even for simple Steel. Dont forget about the lifetime Warranty of Victorinox. How many knives did i sent there and they got replaced or repaired after 20 years of use. I never paid even 1 Euro for that. That Warranty alone is worth the money.
