I don’t agree with this just because I live around an Indian community and was raised in NJ. Most of us are proud.
I did my arangetram in bharatanatyam and have been dancing for many years now. Most of the dancers are NRIs or children of NRIs.
I also travel a lot in the states and I find that they try to stick to their roots.
I personally might go back to India if I get married. I want my children to be raised there for the first few years of their life to know who they are and where they come from. Also, it’s important to me for them to learn Telugu and understand the culture better.
I was born in Hyderabad and usually go back to visit India every year.
