I just realized this is the opposite view of Wolfpack's I-16 play through. While the full career is dynamic, the starting missions for most squadrons are usually the same. The unit Taff is playing here of HE's looks to be the same as the one wolfpack's I-16 unit is sent to intercept on their first mission.
If i may add some things: When using the Bombsight, you dial in the winddirection in relation to your position, and not like you did as absolute position. Fir example if you are flying a straight eastern heading and the wind comes from 180deg, you would tune 90deg from the right ;) Oh and for the altitude you too have to consider target elevation. in this case 45m so if you are at 2400m, you would have to dial in 2355. Hope that helps a bit :D

Nice to see someone flying the 111 :) You set your bombing computer up incorrectly though. The bottom left dial is the Wind Angle dial - that is the angle that the wind is hitting your plane, not the direction of the wind as given in the forecast. Forecast Wind was 235 degrees, if you look at the compass in top left of bomb computer you can see that 240 degrees is directly behind you ie you would set the ‘wind angle’ bottom dial to 180 degrees if the wind was 240. 235 degrees would, therefore, just be another 5 degrees counter clockwise to this so you should set to “175 degrees from the right hand side”. AI auto dropped for you I guess which is a pain but if you were manual dropping you would have found it even trickier as you had off set your bomb sight (possibly when you were trying to find the bridge at some point we don’t see in the video?) - you need to make sure the two red arrows in the middle top left of screen are centred before you hit ‘drop’ if you want to hit release at the right point.
Feldwebel (FELT-veebel) is equivalent to the British Army Sergeant and the US Army Staff Sergeant or Tech Sergeant. www.ww2.dk/misc/ranks.htm 1:04 - You have actually joined 1 (Roman numeral I) Gruppe of Kg 100. 15:16 - Polikarpov (pauli-KAR-pov) I-16. 15:48 - You have to ALWAYS remember to LEAD your target. Always lead him MORE than you think you need to. Your forward velocity will make the bullets seem to curve to go further behind you. Plus, the enemy's velocity will put him quite a bit ahead of where you're aiming, by the time the bullets get that far.
Iirc parked planes are only static planes, usually the ones in hangars or on the field covered. Any actual AI controlled planes are listed under their classification, even if bombed on the ground.

Yeah, well I'll give the He-111 credit for being pretty speedy. Those I-16s were struggling to overtake from behind but watch out for the Yak-9s. That'll be a different story! The He-111 is a pretty good medium bomber, but I still think of it as a flying dump truck. Give me a fighter any day! Hark! Do I hear "Hiss, boo" from the peanut gallery?
the realism of this game is unreal ... this is the result when WAR THUNDER & ARMA had a baby! i hope this game can become more mainstream though, its so underrated! and i hope to see future gameplays where you can play as tank crew or bomber crew with actual players playing every crew ... a full blown battle of berlin or battle of bulge with a tank with REAL PEOPLE AS CREW .. thats like a REAL ARMOUR COMBAT ROLEPLAY SIMULATOR ... thats gonna be fun.

Taff, you're not going to shoot down many enemy fighters with those peashooters at such long range, you're not playing B-17 The Mighty 8th now with unlimited supplies of ammo. You need to hold your fire until the enemy are closer in to be effective and the pathetic capacity of these ammo drums demand short sharp bursts or you're going to be spending all your time installing new ones. It has to be said that those escorting 109s were about as effective as chocolate teapots if they can't deal with those obsolete Polikarpov I-16s!
to give credit where credit is due the I-16 was surprisingly effective at the beginning of the war, despite being only armed with rifle caliber guns and an inferior design compared to the BF109's, they were quite nimble and had a fighting chance against the Germans, if flown by an experienced pilot who used the plane to its advantages... having said that in this particular instance, I agree that the fighter escort could have done a better job, having a higher burst mass and the higher ground...
sorry but how is it that when you are a fighter going for a bomber, the AI gunners are absolute sniper animals landing 9 out of 10 bullets.... when you are in a bomber your same AI gunners are blind as a bat and can't hit the broadside of a barn?

Probably because firing in a perfect line is essentially the default setting for any AI - in lieu of another way to set difficulty they've left the enemy AI with perfect aim and caused dispersion to affect the friendly gunner AI.

I commented about the capacity of the German defensive machine guns previously. It was a serious problem for them; they couldn't maintain sustained fire and (as far as I know), strangely never addressed the problem? Pax dudes

@@conmcgrath7502 Yeah they also gave the He 111 a 13mm mg 131 which was belt feed and deals more damage. Its amazing how in the Battle of Britain. German bombers defensive fire shot down a about 10% of British fighters. Which is about 105 aircraft and damaged way more which where able to be repaired.
Hopefully, those fighter pilots were either killed or captured by the Red Army. That way, we will probably have escorts who know how to face enemy fighters in the next missions. It is dangerous to fly bomber missions with escorts who cannot do better than that with Me-109s against I-16 Polikarpovs.
In 1917 Stuttgart was the capital of the Kingdom of Wurttemberg. The combined state of Baden-Wurttemberg didn't come into existence until 1952. But, that's down to the game makers and not yourself.
At a rate of fire of up to 1120 rounds/minute you can bet that these magazines don't last long. Only short bursts with those MG-15's, or the recoil will spray the rounds all over the target area and you will blind yourself to the target for a few seconds. This goes double for the MG 81 (1500 rpm) and the MG81Z(literally 2 MG81's packed into one gun, 3000 rpm...yes really). These were mounted mostly in the gondola where the belly gunner position is though. That position can also mount a 20mm MG/FF M to the front AND another 20mm MG/FF to the rear, for low level strafing. Rate of fire and ballistics made those poor defensive weapons however.

My mistake, they are MG15s. But they still have a firing rate of 1000-1050 rounds per minute. The MG42 could fire anywhere from 700-1300 rounds per minute. At 1300 rounds per minute that is 21 rounds per second and 210 rounds per 10 seconds.
I don't see how these bombers were shot down with all the guns on those things when most of the time the enemy was close enough to get shot up by all those guns 🤷♂️🤔
Oh awesome! I can tell by the tactical maps this was a day or so after 14th Panzer Corps broke out of the Vertyachiy bridgehead on the east bank of the Don River in the early morning hours of Aug 24th (I think) making a B-Line for the west bank of the Volga River. It reached the Volga near Rynok by nightfall having pushed a little over 35 miles through scattered Soviet dispositions clearly taken by complete surprise to the impetuosity of the move. Fiebig's 8th Air Corps was busy all that day providing all three divisions of the panzer corps with some of the thickest ground support ever provided by the Luftwaffe inflicting massive material losses against remnants of 62nd and 24th Army. The next day the Luftwaffe turned its attention to Stalingrad itself commencing carpet bombings of the city which would quickly prove to be a mistake in the coming weeks.
