There used to be a bin place buy me every Wednesday everything was $1 and they were closed on Thursday to restock! I found a lot of fun stuff lots of holiday decorations! It closed but looks like there’s a new company in that spot will have to check it out someday! I would get there right when it opened most people were nice but some people are just rude just going crazy through the buns throwing stuff or shoving everything to one side! I would just side step them and go to another bin and come back to it later!
Not saying this is true with Bidfta, but there's something similar around here but it seems like a lot of the boxes are damaged. I think you can pay an additional fee to have the option of returning something but add on that fee (optional), the buyer's premium fee, this fee, that fee and you really have to watch your spending or you'll spend a lot more than you were thinking. Read and reread the FAQ to see what fees there are. (Nothing wrong with fees...just make sure you know what they are and factor them into the price you're willing to pay, like you said with the buyer's premium.) You can't go look at the item, you have to base your purchases on the one or two usually poor pictures. I haven't taken the plunge yet but it is tempting. I just don't know if there's any real value there. That said, I do look at the local estate sale company's online auctions and have gotten some good deals there. But again, watch the fees and look at the photos CLOSELY. lol.
You're absolutely right. I've been flipping for over 20 years so I've dealt with dozens of companies like this. Some I've even caught shill bidding. Just like anything else, you need to do your own research before you buy, check reviews, etc. I partnered with BIDFTA because they're a stand-up company and I was buying from them for years before the partnership.
Bidfta is so overloaded. Too many people know about it. If you're purchasing to own....it's not bad....but to flip is really hard nowadays. 17.25% + $1.0 + tax%....it adds up quickly.
It does add up quickly but I've made my money buying the less glamorous stuff on their site. They have a ton of bidders but I've still been able to find good deals. Thanks for watching, Daniel!
How do you really feel about sites like this? Is this a viable way to stock/boost your inventory? Maybe now when garage sales are done for the winter, but I can't see this being a decent long-term option. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like this is hurting the future of "the picker" more than helping.
I do think its viable, I've made a good chunk of money buying from BIDFTA over the years. Picking and reselling is one of the oldest professions there is. Over the years its changed so many times. I personally just see this as another feather in your cap if you want it to be. Thanks for watching, William!
@cincinnatipicker That's good to hear. As someone with zero experience in picking it's hard for me to see the big picture when it comes to how these opportunities can become income streams. But I guess success is best found in multiple avenues, being flexible, and ever-innovating.
@@WilliamDusing a good rule of thumb is to zig when other people zag. Back in the day I was making a killing finding old toys and video games at garage sales but now those are in high demand. Every sale I go to, people are asking for those. Now I buy the weird, obscure, "boring" stuff and I make really good money that way. Is a blender fun to buy? No. But it makes money! I bring that same mindset to the auction websites.
Didn't see it mentioned or listed anywhere, but this felt like a 10 minute long sponsored ad.

To own but not to flip. Fees add up too quickly. Especially with the number of people on the site. Too many people with deep pockets and no sense.

Very interesting. The population of my country is so small that there just aren't enough buyers!!
What a great video. TY for taking the time to go through step by step.
thanks for watching, Heidi!
Wow, none on the west coast at all. Closest is Phoenix.
That was interesting. Thanks for sharing. I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year.
Thanks Jane! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well!
Thanks..

If they're REALLY anything like me, keeping them occupied with literary interests should work.
CP!!!
Well there go the deals...bummer.
It's been going downhill the last few years.
Nothing is a secret or bolo anymore thanks to social media and channels like this.
