My thoughts exactly. I usually try to take an optimistic wait and see approach to how big changes affect the meta-game, but this card is so mind-bogglingly broken out of the box. Glacier was barely playable before, but who the hell would even try to play some glacier jank with this thing in the cardpool? Signed, A guy who kept on pretending that the RP dream is alive.
I really liked this year end summary, especially the overview of the paradigm shift in ANR from the utility of the classic glacier style towards asset proliferation and more effective tagging mechanisms. Respectfully, I disagree that Rumor Mill belongs on this list as one of the best cards. An impactful card? Yes. A meta-defining card? Yes. A monstrous game-changer? Absolutely. But for all of that it is a weak design because it applies so broadly to many of the cards that made glacier viable. At one credit and two influence, it is also too easily imported into other decks. Compared to cards like Pol Op or Councilman, effective cards that required the Runner to anticipate the Corp's strategy and time their effects accordingly, Rumor Mill does not require the Runner to have any skill. It's a blanket effect that has pushed Netrunner towards Notrunner because it is very non-interactive. Coupled with established recursive effects, this card will continue to be a headache. I'm especially concerned because by your own admission, it's very difficult for the Corp to score a 5/3 without using a decent defensive upgrade (most of which are unique). Guess what? It's very difficult to score a 5/3 in almost any Corp deck. So now we exist in the transition zone as glacier fades away and the asset spam that all the Runners complain about continues to rise and get strong support from cards like Friends in High Places. I always enjoyed "classic net runner" because it was my ice against your breakers. Now the designers are pushing all of us into another playspace that may not be as enjoyable as they think, RM is a symptom of that intent. The only good thing about RM is that it will eventually rotate out.
Great content on the channel! :-) I've been out of Netrunner since Honor and Profit or so, and your videos are a really good source for catching up and getting a feel for what the game is like these days. Go you!
Good Vid as usual. Sadly Temujin doesn't fit all runners tho theirs 2 that can't use it Prof & Apex not that their top tier runners but them not having access to it doesn't help IMO.
Another great video. Rumor Mill definitely makes me the saddest out of all the cards released. Seems a little heavy-handed and clumsy when it comes to card design to me.
Here's a question, what can be done to build more intermediate Netrunner spaces? Maybe it's just me, but my local meet ups are filled with people who are really good, like top level Worlds good. So if you want to play but can't devote your life to it, you're outta luck it seems.
This is a very difficult question and one that's provoked a lot of community discussion. I don't have a great answer. Alternative formats such as 1.1.1.1 are an interesting start, but they don't deal with the expert players' mastery of the cardpool. The game could really use a more casual-friendly format such as draft/sealed deck. FFG hasn't been very proactive with promoting the draft packs. I'd like to see more Game Night Kits focused on limited. Also, Terminal Directive shows a lot of potential for what can be done with product releases. This problem is on the community's radar, but I haven't seen a good answer yet.
I find temüjin is not a so good money card in the earlc game yes but after it not. That my thoughts on it, yes it is very good but when u not have money to break the ice u get no money from it. And i saw sometimes that problem after that card came out. I think it is more a agro card in the mid game so that corp plays more ice on the choosen server from temüjin. Mfg. Lancelot
But Street Magic is like, borderline useful. It just has the syndrome of the 46th card, but I did use to play it for a while in a Sifr Whizzard deck as a one-of against ice like Archer or Little Engine. Akshara Sareen is just... bad.
You are the best Netrunner content provider on UA-cam. Period.
I was optimistic for the future of Netrunner, then Sifr...

To notch video, I would love to see another video like the 5-for-3's analysis but focused on 3-for-1's and how to make them better.

great vids as always, you should do some more of the game analysis vids, like your zap video

When are you going to make more videos?
Worst card is not Akshara Sareen. wot.
Haha. I could see her upgraded from garbage to marginal if/when 3-for-2s stop being the main agendas. But yeah, she's awful.
