This was the first event in the game that actually made me feel really sad. I almost started to cry. Tellah’s character is a really good message about hate, and how it can lead to your own demise. I haven’t beaten this game yet but he’ll probably be one of my favorite characters throughout the entire series.
Golbez underestimated Tellah And Just stood There taking ALL damage like It was nothing Then...With technically 0MP, Tellah goes with a 99MP Spell without even being able to cast at his fullest(limit 90MP) feeding the Spell with his life And pure hate And so, the game delivers the message "Hate only consumes you until nothing is left" on a pretty powerfull way...
I like the editing for the opening screenshot. A nice nod to the pre-boss battle preparations common in latter RPGs, and to Tellah's characterization both.
It's something IN the game, not edited by me. This version of the game added thoughts for whichever character you were moving as and this changed every time the story developed a bit, you get a loooot of new "dialogue" for every main character.
Oddly if you give him a soma drop, he gets 10MP. But with how much those spells cost. You are just wasting em unless one wants to see meteor used early
While not true in this version, in the original release (which this scene follows) Golbez has over 60,000 HP! As for why he didn't bother...To be blunt, Tellah wasn't doing much and wasting most of his energy. There wasn't any concern, and any injury could be healed away easily. Then Tellah pulled out Meteor and landed a very, very severe blow out of nowhere. Not lethal, but had Tellah been capable of repeated casts he would habe been in a lot of trouble!
Wrong game, but Sephiroth wanted to cast Meteor in FF7 to damage the planet so badly so that the Lifestream would emerge to stop it, whilst placing himself between Meteor and the Lifestream to absorb its power and essentially become a god.

You know, reading all these comments about Tellah and how his own hate led to his own downfall and me think of something: what other character in the game has a strong connection to Golbez, and whose hate makes up a major part of his personality? None other than Zemus. Where Tellah was consumed by hate over the loss of his daughter, Zemus lost himself to his hate of not only his fellow hungarians, but humans too. He considered them below himself, no doubt enraged at having been imprisoned by his kin. Yet where Tellah finally saw the error of his way as he lay dying, Zemus did not. Zemus died, but refused to accept it, his hate alone living on as a monster that sought to destroy everything. I wonder, what could have become of Tellah if he had been strong enough to cast Meteor and survive?

One of my only complaints is how this version of the game dropped Bio (or "Virus" as we knew it as kids) from Tellah's offensive.
Right? Virus had such an unsettling sound effect too on the SNES. I loved it. I also miss the Fire3 splash effect at the end of the animation.

Only at supreme levels does his INT and SPR increase. And yet Galuf can get all stats gains. Strago with his magicites.

I remember upgrading Tellah in something…. And then this happened. Fuck it made me stop playing the game I wish I had finished it
