I met Rod after a game against the Magpies in the early 90s - Came away with a very strong impression of what a fine young man he was off the field. Had an astonishing strike rate in the mid 90 Something like 30 plus tries in about 50 games.
sea eagles fan forever and always but as a illawarra /shoalhaven teen through the nineties i always liked wishart especially origin time....... great player.
Agree, totally. Worse was 1999 with St George Illawarra, David Waite preferring his St George winger Ainscough and pushing Wishart to the bench - despite Wishy being a NSW winger every year up until then. Certainly paid the price in the Grand Final.
Rod wishart is the simply the best. Has always been my hero and even more so after meeting him in 2003.
Yep. Absolute legend!
Pure class.

His young fella is a fair player too
Wish illawarra had their own team still in the nrl
Great player
Guy was so strong
One of my favourite Blues. Selectors picking Hancock, or anyone for that matter, ahead of him for Australia was always a joke.

@@tasteofsteel I have a lot of time for David Waite but yeah that's an odd one.
8:47 was not rodwells first touch. He defused a bomb whilst doing a 360° in midair earlier in the game.
You are absolutely correct. Might see if I can edit that bit out…
