Is this math rock? I thought the defining trait of math rock was its unusual rhythmic features and dissonant harmonies, but this is just a 4/4 poppy major key melody played with tapping, so does math rock mean something different now or is it a loose genre term that can apply to either of these things? Very good playing by the way
It's always been kind of a loose term for me, I just love clean tapping in different tunings. Uchu Conbini and JYOCHO are two of my favorite Math Rock bands, that's the kind of vibe I was going for here
math rock isn't always dissonant necessarily, though that is more often found in mathcore instead. though I guess The Fall of Troy also has quire a bit of dissonant stuff and they're basically one of the OGs of math rock. It's definitely very broad as a genre, since CHON and TFoT are both in the same genre apparently.
this helped me pass my calculus final

is this even legal?
Very pleasing to listen to but not math rock. Midwest emo for sure though. Math rock implies odd time signatures
What's "math" about this?
Wait a minute... thats not a telecaster
