      +SecretYoungLink007 I thought he just got tired of Glenn's shit and left. They had a big fight ONSTAGE before he left in '80 i believe. But even before then, when doing the Hotel California tour, Randy wasn't hitting the high notes on "Take it to the Limit"... Randy wanted someone else to do it or drop the song completely from the setlist. Glenn basically told him to stop being a pussy and to do it.

      +Sitizen Kane The videoed disagreement is in the History of the Eagles in Part 2 . Oh Glenn was pissy during the concert, so was Randy and it got ugly. Randy walked out, went surfing they said lol....... oh the good days when people would just move on with no hard feelings. (they had eternal hard feelings) I am not a believer in saying good-bye, life never lets you know when you shall see someone again. Mentally, songs of the eagles will be a fabric in my life forever, wont ever wash out or fade. Just will continue to sound awesome! Glenn, take it easy

      This is how society should be. It's not about who gets the credit like society teaches, but, how many lives it enhances and how many more will be positively impacted in the future. We've lost way too much "community" over the last few decades and replaced it with "individuality" and self-righteousness. As McDonald's founder, Ray Kroc once stated, "NONE OF US IS AS GOOD AS ALL OF US"

      @@scrimmy45 when you see the documentary, it gives you a good idea of the dynamic in that band. It was Glenn's band, that's obvious if you watch this, Henley is a big part of it and very instrumental, but Glenn is the CEO. He isn't easy to deal with but the others are supposed to accept it and a few of them have successfully remained eagles because they accept it. Joe accepted coming into the band that he was not going to be a frontman, prominent songwriter or lead singer and he was a humble man, he respected Don and Glenn as they were leaders of the band, and accepted that. Timothy felt like they saved his ass when they hired him to replace Randy, and felt like it would be audacious to question them. Felder had an agreement with them, he wanted them to uphold their end of the agreement like gentlemen.....THEY ARE NOT, and he found that out. Randy and Bernie are cooperating as they likely know that Felder and Joe had to advocate for them to be a part of this ceremony as D&G saw them as irrelevant as they had left the band during the mid 70s and had been adequately replaced. Bernie looks like he would love to expose Glenn as a piece of shit that he is but he's too much of a gentleman. He will never see him again and he is okay with that

      I agree, he really showed class, dignity and respect. Schmitt is a great musician in his own right, but no one ever sang "Take It To The Limit" like Randy Meisner.
      The Eagles played this song in B back when RM sang lead. After he left they had to drop it two whole steps to the key of G (with Glenn Frey singing lead). Nobody could hit those high notes like Randy did. Frey didn't even try, even with the song dropped two keys.
      I kinda like Randy, can ya tell?
      Hotel California was their signature song, but I think Take It To The Limit was right behind that one in musical significance. Meisner has first writing credit on the song, he truly had a significant impact on what I consider to be the finest musical act of the 1970s.

      i really wish that Felder and Frey would have made up i saw what he said about him when he died it was very sweet. i have a feeling it won't be like that when Don at some point passes away but who knows maybe i'm wrong? i don't think it was just Felder but also Frey and Don as well that had to do with why they had a fallen out.

    I was 19 years old in 1971 when I heard "Take It Easy" for the first time. I've been an Eagles fan ever since. Their songwriting, musical ability, and vocals are second to none. They are the greatest American band of all time in my opinion and second place is not even close.
    As for their individual failings, well, you can't have a group of musical geniuses without having some occasional head-butting. I, too, wish Felder was still with the band but life goes on. The Eagles are one of the best rock & roll band groups and country music as well. Although the band have been separated for fourteen years but able to reunite together prior to the late Glen Fry, one of the original members and founders. The band have won six Grammy awards , five No # 1 Singles, 17 ( Top) 40 Singles and 6 No # 1 Albums.
    I have been a loyal and dedicated fan since the original band was formed in 1971.
    During the opening of the ceremony for acceptance of being inducted into the Hall of Rock and Roll Fame, I have thought that Don Henley , one of the original members and founders was extremely humble with his acceptance speech. It is a boy's dream to become a successful songwriter and musician by just picking up a guitar and playing a set of drum but unforseen his future to be one of the most noticeable and sensational rock and country band ever performed on stage with so many hit singles and albums. Secondly, it was a nice introduction of Randy M by Tim Schmidt. It was a nice appearance of Vern to be acceptance of the award. It would have been nice to see Don Felder who happens to be an excellent guitar player and a creative writer.
    I have thought that the late Glen Fry was humble for the acceptance speech and the style of his speech was be thankful and grateful that we are the main reasons for their success in all of these past years.

There was some tension when he left, but all was forgiven for this occasion. Stephen Silva Uh...that's why I said "for the most part." I DO acknowledge the contribution of Meisner, Leadon, & Felder. All three were/are incredibly talented. And all three wrote/co-wrote some of the Eagles best songs. But their songwriting contribution only represents maybe 10-15% of the Eagles output respectively whereas Henley & Frey get songwriting credit on about 95% of all the songs. So its clear they were the two main forces when it came to writing all their wonderful songs. And as for Meisner being the best singer, I do debate it. Only because Don Henley is also in the band. Between the two of them, they're two of the greatest singers in rock history imo.

Seems a bit of a stretch to thank only those 2 and to thank your own band members... It was nice when Timmy did it for Randy but Joe's... meh. • @TruthSurge
      @TruthSurge 9 років тому +8

      Lynn Turman He wrote Hotel California (sans lyrics). If that was all he ever wrote, it'd be more than me and I dare say (most likely) you would have ever done in our lives. I'm sure he wrote more music early on and less of it later as the notion of royalties became huge in the minds of the frontmen (Henley and Frey). Plus, they were the main singers so... just how things go.

    • @lynnturman8157
      @lynnturman8157 9 років тому +1

      TruthSurge Not to take anything away from Felder cause he was/is a great guitarist. But coming up with a guitar solo, a guitar riff, or a melodic line is not the same as writing the music. The music is defined as the harmonic structure (a.k.a. the chord progression) underneath the melody. And the only song he did that on was Hotel California (which is why he gets a songwriting credit on it). And btw, he DIDN'T write everything in Hotel California except for the lyrics, as you claim. You know those notes Henley is singing to the lyrics? That's called the melody. Felder didn't write that. Nor did he write the music or melody to the chorus. Felder's contribution to HC was the chord progression on the verse, the guitar duet at the end he wrote with Walsh, and the reggae feel the song has. So like I said: he wrote less than 5% of the music in the Eagles.

    • @TruthSurge
      @TruthSurge 9 років тому +8

      Lynn Turman You're very condescending. I saw a vid on YT where Felder said he'd bring in music ideas on tapes and they'd cull through them and that was part of how they created the songs. I think it's called... collaboration? Not sure. But you have a good day.

    There are people and things that are so timeless that you think that time has a different set of rules than those used on people like you and me. For me one of those things is a band called the Eagles and it's founding member, Glenn Frey. I remember seeing them for the first time in Kansas City as they were just beginning to get noticed. Believe it or not the Eagles were opening for Jethro Tull. We bought tix for the JT concert not knowing who the opening band was. When they opened their set w/ 'Take It Easy' I kind of forgot about the JT band and sat listening to harmonies, guitar parts, and lyrics that were as close to musical perfection as you could ask for. Here are a few of my favorite Glenn Frey penned songs below. He will be sorely missed by this world but enjoying his new life in another.
