I have 3 players that have a synergy I've never seen before. All 3 spent over 6 in game months training young Griffin hatchlings and all took the mounted combatant feat at lv. 8. Now we have one of the most fun campaigns I've ever run. The meeting with the Long Road Hippogriff Corps was an amazing session. Thanks again Professor!
This is my favorite "flying horse" too, so I'm 100% with you AJ. Great coverage of the beasts. I actually had a human tribe that can only be accessed by the most skilled of climbers who can avoid traps... or fly. That tribe uses Hippogriffs for all travel. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to "mix it up" for different bird half depending upon the region. My version of what the meat tasted like was a bit lame compared to yours. It was like horsemeat mixed with turkey with almost zero fat that was extremely tough... a bit tastier than the official version. Now I know the official version, I will switch my reality to that. Thanks.
“Poor little kobolds” in terms of personal wealth, sure I could believe that. In terms of innocence, not a chance, even Deekin still played a part in the near assassination of Master Drogan. Still, vile actions can leave a taint on the soul regardless of how deserving the recipient.
Oh no they're adorable goofs!! The only way this could get any better is...... owl hippogriffs. 🦉 Bonus points if they do the 180 degree head spin thing and make silly bird and horse noises.
Not as dangerous as a Griffin, not as intelligent as a Pegasus but definitely a dependable mount. I on the other hand prefer more devious flying mounts like Dire Bats. Bird themed mounts are too closely associated to "Good" for my tastes.
I prefer the Warcraft version that looks like it's part deer instead of horse. Those antlers add a bit to it that makes it more than just a less cool griffon.
Great Video, I always love learning about these kind of monsters and Hippogriff are one of my resent favorites. Thank you for making such great content and keep up the wonderful work.
I once read that the hippogriff was a symbol of true love conquering boundaries because they were a cross between a horse and a Griffin which would normally eat horses
The way you describe some of the creatures makes me feel like I can almost reach out and touch it. From the way they look, all the way down to the way they taste. Splendidly done!
I had an idea of a unique species of Hippogriff. It still has the front of it's body be that of an eagle, but, it's back half is that of a unicorn, and, as such, has the horn of a unicorn. In terms of ecology, I'll have to think on that.
Who you calling insufficiently pure @Jacob Wilson? My LV4 Dragon Heist Way of the Exulted Monk Chef always washes his hands before making dinner for his party and he'd be such a good unicorn owner, feed him and pat him and groom him, take him for walks, clean up after him.... come on, let me have a unicorn, pleeeeeeease!
1.) How do Drakes fit in to that trio (Griffons, Hippogriffs, and Pegasi)? 2.) Would they think to use their power dive to kamikaze a large, tough, but slow or detracted predator if it came to that protecting their nest? 3.) how rare are these sort of exotic mounts in a normal setting like Forgotten realms or Greyhalk (Drakes, Wyverns, Griffons, Hippogriffs, Pegasi, Unicorns, Manticors, Nightmayers, Diaranimals, etc.)? 4.) Is that rule about needing a saddle to fall of for all mounts? 5.) Do orks normally ride them?
You better not tell me what happened with the Kobolds, I love the little buggers. (I wonder, what would you think of allowing someone to commission or construct a stone horse for themselves in 5e? And to add to that what about making one that can fly, or at least making them a size category larger?)
This one is off-topic, but I was wondering how Kobolds would approach a half dragon individual? (Or what they might think of them, if they would only seek to use them, etc.) Edit: By the way, have you enjoyed the Dungeon Synth Archives channel? I believe they have many D&D inspired albums somewhere in their playlists, or their uploaded page.

@@AliasEliahus 3.5 warlocks only have access to a handful of evocations as the level up, so choose carefully.
