      Thank you!! though it has been years since this video was originally cut, Isuzu has maintained the agility and ergonomics. and now with the Cummins engine - Power!

    What is the gearing?

    • @MichaelOlden
      @MichaelOlden  3 місяці тому +1

      The FTR and FVR now comes with the Cummins Diesel engine. Also in standard and lo profile tires. This affect the rear gear ratio. Do you have a preference?? How can I help sell you your next truck?? Thanks!

    @ 4:13 looks like 2300rpm @ 77 mph. That is good to know. My old company bought a new Chevy(Isuzu) W4500 with 4.8L Diesel (don't remember year) and it was geared so low, that the RPM was maxed out(3000rpm?) @ 75 mph and would get 8 mpg with a stake bed and lift gate.

    We have a 2014 NQR diesel and its gutless (not to mention the slew of seemingly endless after treatment issues) I can't imagine that same engine in a bigger heavier truck.

    • @jetstream454
      @jetstream454 4 роки тому +2

      I can assure you the little NQR you mentioned does NOT have the same motor as this truck.
      This truck should, IIRC, have the 7.8 6HK1. The NQR uses a 4HK1 4 cylinder diesel.

    • @jetstream454

      Sweet jesus...nevermind that. It's a 4 cylinder 😳, must be uprated for that model truck

      No regrets - the engine was turn up to maximize the fuel efficiency and the torque was compensated through the 6.14 rear ratio. But we have since moved to the Cummins 6.7L engine due to emission standards. My regrets for not being available to answer this question. Let me know if there is any current question I can try to do better on. Best Regards,

    I biuld these trucks. Nice to see all the positive feed back👍Recently started biulding these with a B series 6.7 Cummins, way more power!

    • @MichaelOlden
      @MichaelOlden  3 роки тому +2

      Ian - thank you for the feedback! I agree there is going to be an amazing shift in the power curve with the upcoming introduction of the 6.7 Cummins ISB. And I believe the improved torque will be a boon to those in more mountainous areas. What are you feelings about the strength of the Allison and Cummins power match?
      I think it will take Isuzu to the next level in acceptance as the go to truck for Maneuverability, Lowest Life Cycle Cost, And now POWER!.
      Shoot - with the three year unlimited mileage engine and transmission coverage AND a built in rest bunk!! too awesome for the regional operator. AND, did you know there is a way to mount a sleeper to this amazing truck?
      Thank you again for the feedback!

    I’m assuming the truck is empty while trying to get to freeway speed?

    • @MichaelOlden
      @MichaelOlden  4 роки тому +7

      No, this truck was loaded with steel plates to the GVW rating. The purpose of that was to simulate the real world use. This particular unit was the cross country test and show and drive unit. Pretty impressive drive - at least I thought so.

    • @StrikerV3
      @StrikerV3 3 роки тому +1

      @@MichaelOlden you were going 70 loaded up? I would have to attach some turbine thrusters to our Hino 268 to even BEGIN to dream of that. Even unloaded the truck hates going speed limits. Anything over 55 and it gives up

    • @MichaelOlden
      @MichaelOlden  3 роки тому +1

      @@StrikerV3 Suggestion: Often national fleets will speed limit their trucks to maximize fuel. If you are the secondary purchasers - make an appointment with your technician - have the check for a speed limit setting and clear that setting. Hino is an okay competitor - and 55MPH is abnormal. So - I think you'll find a governed speed setting 'enabled'.
